Tamara Kunanayagam and GL Peiris

It was Tamara’s outburst against GL Peiris that attracted my attention as to how a public servant could stand up to another public servant at a higher level using such forceful language. There has to be a reason for this outburst and we the public have the right to know why Tamara has been demoted.

Having watched her defend the country I have nothing but admiration for her and she has done a very good job.

Was she demoted on the orders of America? It is well known how meekly Sri Lanka takes orders from India. So anything is possible with the way things are happening in our country.

Or could it be something personal between GL Peiris and Tamara arising perhaps out of her not being so humble towards him? Whatever the reason or reasons may be, we the public have the right to know and we demand an explanation.

GLP meets Hilary on May 18 in USA. Most likely USA-India duo want Tamara out for speaking out for Sri Lanka.

At the same time TNA leader dictates terms to the government.

This is the reality in the entire government. Indians influence Sri Lanka and there is nothing the government can do about it unless the people step in. I have personally experienced how Indian-submissive some renowned patriotic MPs are. With a two thirds in parliament, the government serves India. When there was a weak government it was forced to serve the people just to hang on to power. Never should people give any party an absolute majority in parliament. A repetition of 1987. JR’s two thirds majority did nothing good for the nation and so is the current two thirds majority.

GL should leave and Tamara should stay. It is simple as that. Hats off to this brave lady for speaking the truth and trying to save Sri Lanka.

This spineless politico should thank Tamara worshiping her feet for what she stood for and for her performance.

Tamara, do not get discouraged. You are a true daughter of Mother Lanka! Keep up the good work.

You are someone of Kadiragamar caliber and a person like you is a threat to these spineless politicians and their handlers.

Do not give-up. Stay firm! All the best and good luck!!!

Absolutely true. It is like helping the head to get detached from the body, and engage in frolics of its own.

Granted GLP is quite knowledgeable and could deliver a great speech quite fluently. However has he achieved anything substantial for SriLanka? I dont think so, and the reason is he is not forceful enough and bends backward. As GLP’s spineless diplomacy hasn’t worked for SriLanka, we need people who could practice forthright and hard diplomacy like Tamara Kunanayakam, Rajiva Wijesinghe, Ravinath Ariyasinghe and Dayan Jayatileke. Though being forthright may not bring immediate results, it certainly will embarass and damage the reputation of those bully boys/girls pushing unfair agendas and probably in the longer run we will benefit. So rather than try to please the bullyboys/girls, at this sensitive moment we need Tamara to remain in this position and finish off what she started. In the short term, I hope she along with like minded persons will be able to stop biased and one track minded persons like Navi Pillai getting extensions in their current UN positions.
