Chinese Naval and Air Bases in Sri Lanka

We cannot and we should not tolerate the constant insults by India and threats by America. What India wants is to annex our country which she tried after many years of planning and failed miserably. I have always asked them to send us another IPKF and we would welcome it.
America has many plans the first being to destabilize any country so that it can be carved out and exploited but in this case they are smarting under the refusal by MR to permit the core of the LTTE to leave to a third country. When this was refused America threatened us with their marines but very wisely dropped the idea. What clearer evidence is there to prove that America actively supports terrorism in all countries that they want to exploit? They are accusing us of human rights violations that never took place while they have been, are, and will be the single largest violator of human rights the world over.
For over 60 years China has been not only our benefactor but also the benefactor of all African nations that have seek her support, all given with absolutely no conditions attached.
In the context of the present world where the UN is now being used to exploit the wealth of all nations in Africa, Asia and South America our government should seriously consider granting naval and military facilities in Sri Lanka to China. Also at the rate that China is expanding it may be a good idea to introduce Chinese as an optional language at school.

SL fast losing options.
Imagine if there are Chinese military bases in the island. Will Indian illegals INCLUDING Menon, land here? NO.
Menon had threatened to INVADE SL unless SL stops Chinese and implement 13 amendment in full.
Now is the time to invite the Chinese.

Yes, China in Hambantota, and Russia in Trincomalee.. China and Russia are the real super powers. US/UK are playing bluff, trying to throw their weight around. They won’t last long. They dug their own graves.

Even without China the Indians will have to seriously think before invading Sri Lanka. This is not 1986 where they just walked in. Now Sri Lanka has teeth. Very serious Teeth. Maybe the US might bully Sri Lanka but India will not be able to dictate anything to Sri Lanka anymore.

BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES ….no more. But they always WAIVE THE RULES, when it comes to appeasing the TAMIL TIGERS for Votes. As Vis8 says, they are Bluffers.
I do hope the President will soon get China to establish Military, and Naval bases here. Russia too should start digging for oil, along with China, in the Mannar Basin. Hope that L J would lobby the GOSL to take his proposal very very seriously.
All Sri Lankans like L Js proposal. This is the only way Sri Lanka can thwart the Blue Flies from India, popping in and out of Sri Lanka, buzzing zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Now Saudi’s too coming. Earlier Kazakhstan, Qatar, Singapore, South American lot had talks with Maha Raja.

Dham, we have to antagonize INDIA. If we don’t then following will happen. The vote against Sri Lanka was to save Sri Lanka from been occupied by UN forces. So says India. British Colonial press in SL will take this up and add their spin and tell the public that that INDIA did this to SAVE Sri Lanka, so we must never do or say things to upset India. What Rajapakse administration should do now is to present to the UN, a proposal: if India is given VETO power at the UN, then Pakistan too should be included in the UN with VETO power.

Sorry Chaps, beg to differ.
What SL need is not China or Russia or any other super power on our soil, we have our own natural and very good savoir-faire elephants, and we need not import these super powers to trample us or do battle on our soil. Please note of this ancient proverb “When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers”.
The solution is in our LEADERS, sadly MR have the numbers but not the skills to manage these super powers also his focus and priorities are questionable off late!

I don’t know if you are joking. One bullet and you have an elephant carcass. Every country has its big brother.
MR’s power is only within SL. That cannot do ANYTHING internationally. SL is the WEAKEST country in the region (except for Maldives and Bhutan). SL is in the middle of shipping lanes. So all the super powers want to control SL. We have to pick the LEAST NASTY superpower to us and befriend it/them. Otherwise we are in trouble.

Anyway bloody Indians will know by now it is the MUSLIMS AND SINHALESE who are against Indian colonialism. Tamils are for it. That means India will treat Sinhalese and Muslims as enemies.
And that is true. Similarly India is the enemy of SL.
Now it is too late to change this. India will never ever change its stand now.

I wrote this same response in another thread too.
India knew for decades that smuggling via the straight was a problem. Yet, it does not stop it’s citizens poaching in our seas.
India has given a LTTE-proxy group TNA the same status as GOSL by talking to TNA instead of talking only to GOSL or the governing party leader and the opposition party leader.
When India is this concerned about Tamils, does not it automatically prove that Tamils are indian migrants ?
Probably, by talking to GOSL (and not to Ranil, He goes to india looking for their help) and TNA separately, so they consider that Sri Lanka is already AN UNITED STATES as shiv Shanker MENON has used the word UNITED Sri Lanka in his press briefing.
