Did Retired Maj. Gen Ashok K. Mehta of the Indian Army have other motives to attend the Defence Seminar 2012

Retired Maj. Gen Ashok K. Mehta of the Indian Army has disputed the Sri Lanka governmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s position as regards the post-war military presence in the Northern Province on the basis of unnamed sources as having contradicted the Sri Lankan governmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s stand on de-militarisation. This has been reported in a national Island newspaper dated the 8th., August 2012.

Naturally the Indian authorities as well as the international community have been pumped with false information and gullible statistical figures by the NOGƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s, INGOƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s and some of the VIP opposition parliamentarians of the Sri Lanka.

These white lies are poured out as anti-Sri Lanka jargon at cocktail parties and so-called briefing meeting after a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-shot or twoƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of whisky which is provided to these characters by the anti-Sri Lanka hosts when they are in the brink of loosing their senses at these gatherings. Retired Maj. Gen. Metha would have collected some such information which he would have refered to as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-unnamed sourcesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

Furthermore, Retired Maj. Gen. Metha may have lost his own sense when he queried whether the government would consider a presidential pardon for 383 ex-LTTE combatants undergoing legal action. Where is his sense of responsibility of having served the IPKF then which waged an all out war against the LTTE cadres, now to come to Sri Lanka and ask for clemency to these terrorist.

Rather than embarrassing our Secretary of Defence, the way he had done, Retired Maj. Gen. Metha should go back home to India and request Madam Sonia Ghandi to free the LTTE terrorist who have been imprisoned for killing her husband Indian PM Rajiv Ghandi.

The Retired Maj. Gen. blady well knows that even the India’s former president Pratibha Patil had rejected the mercy petition of the three men + one woman convicted for the killingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Rajiv Ghandi in 1991.

How dare he suggests Sri Lanka to set free these hardcore terrorist. Maybe Retired Maj. Gen. Metha is in a pay of the LTTE diasporas rumps abroad to come to Sri Lanka and try a long shot to get these terrorists clemency at this Defence 2012 Seminar.

Or was it that the Retired Maj. Gen. has an inferiority complex issue of not having defeated the LTTE during the IPKF presence which our Secretary Defence, RetiredƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Lieutenant Colonel Gotabaya Rajapaksa of the Sri Lankan army was able to accomplish in May 2009.

Was the Indian retired Maj. Gen. trying to redicule our Secretary Defence in the presence of a distingushed audience of national and international defence digniteries. The Secretary Defence and the Minister of Foreign Affairs should be commended to have shot down the foolish suggestion made by this retired Indian Maj. General with facts and figures.

Ashok Mehta of the IPKF came to Sri Lanka in 1986 with 800 soldiers to disarm the LTTE in 3 days. And then had to stay taking the wrath of the terrorists for one and a half years with 120,000 soldiers. Finally pulled out after more than 1500 Indians had died. He is lucky he did not get killed by the LTTE. Now he had become the mouth piece of the LTTE diaspora , the TNA and anti Sri Lanka elements.

How did this Nizam comfortably forgot the BIGGGGGGG help by UNP government to LTTE terrorists? Further IPKF never had the mandate to FULL WAR . I think this guy is a fool and cry at an Indian army officer who fought the LTTE.

The entire UNP cabinet of Premadasa must be punished for treason for supporting LTTE. UNP bastards gave a new life to the LTTE. If the UNP government supported the IPKF, LTTE was a history in 1988.

The issue we are discussing is about Retired Maj. Gen Ashok K. Mehta of the Indian Army and the dispute that the Sri Lanka government’s position as regards the post-war military presence in the Northern Province on the basis of unnamed sources as having contradicted the Sri Lankan government’s stand on de-militarization. The other issue is about the Retired Maj. Gen. Mehta having queried/making an inquiry whether the government would consider a presidential pardon for 383 ex-LTTE combatants undergoing legal action, at the Defence Seminar 2012. The contents published in the above article are very clear in presenting an appropriate “REBUTTAL” to the issues raised by the Retired Indian General which was given publicity in one of our Island newspapers. No matter who Gotabaya Rajapaksa is, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Gotabaya Rajapaksa is a dedicated, disciplined and honest Senior government Civil servant who stands for the “truth” and fights the “wrong”. A humble and dedicated administrator who showed leadership to the security forces under the guidance of the Head of the State and freed the Nation of Sri Lanka from the brutal threats of the LTTE, which history cannot erase, India conceived, natured and finally made it into a de-facto army against the sovereign state of Mother Lanka for more than 3 decades. The patriot Gotabaya Rajapaksa cannot be allowed to be humiliated or ridiculed by any internal or external force, be it political, the media or former army officials. This is very clear in the contents of my article. The comments made by you (M.S. Mudali) has no relevance to the issues discussed. Please do not disgrace the dignity of the Right of the Freedom of Expression and publication by writing crap content as comments.

This retird Major General might be trying to cleanse himself of the war crimes committed by the IPKF under his command by brutally killing, raping and robbing the Tamil civilians when their task was only to defeat the LTTE. If he thinks that the equally brutal Tamil Tigers now in prison should be released, then he could first ask India to release the Kashmiri and other Liberation movement prisoners languishing in Indian Jails and also tell their American friends to release those muslims arrested for being muslims. India is lucky that this man is now retired as his judgement seems so very flawed for a head of any security force to hold.

    Nizam:
The SL government already released thousands of LTTE terrorists and rehabilitate many in cluding the notorious THAMILINI who was the woman wing of the LTTE. Thamilini was caught by IDPs and handed over to the army. She involved directly in catching small girls to LTTE. Many witnesses are still there and alive.

Sofar, we do not know who are those “hardcore” LTTE and their offences? The government sofar never called the public to make complaints against LTTE or give evidence.

Many Tamil IDPs identified the prominent LTTE cadres in the IDP camps. But some of them enjoy FREEDOM and become broadcasters too. Why is this kind of selective attitude.?

Col.Mehta may be wondered about this “selective” cases and questioned. It is not a big deal for crying against him. He did not “redicule” Gota but he asked why charge some and release many! Gota is still taking about those LTTE terrorists and still a military matter and not a CIVIL matter. Case of Rajiv killers is always a civil matter. You cannot compare both. If the cases of the “hardcore” LTTE to be tried in courts, they must be handed over to Rauf hakeem who is the minister of justice.

In my view all the LTTE cadres must be punished and send to the jail or gallows. I expected the SL government would establish a military tribunal to try the LTTE terrorists but nothing happened.

But you are still silent about the UNP which gave NEW LIFE to the same LTTE.

Remember I also have the same rights of freedom of expression.
