There are suspicious circumstancesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the manner in whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Ms Navi PillaiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ hasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ so far conducted her meetingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ During her recently concluded tour of North and East, she had organised and attended two secretƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unscheduled ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ meetings,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ During her visit to Trincomalee, after meeting the Governer Mr Mohan Wijeratne, she had hurriedly attendedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an unscheduled meeting at a Holiday Resort at TrincomaleeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with Civil Society representatives.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The media was not allowed to cover the proceedings at this ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ meeting by NPƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ though she shouting otherwise ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for media freedom.
Then there was a second unscheduled meeting at the Centre for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights ( CPPHR).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Director of this centre was none other than Father V Yogeswaran, co-leader of Tamil United Left Front, who himself is a Attorney at Law.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At the entrance to the CPPHR a white man was seen shouting ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- NO MEDIA PLEASE, NO MEDIA PLEASEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢.
A large number of people were gatheredƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to meet and present ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a petition outlining the grievances faced by them under LTTE and seeking justice.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They were denied access to meet Ms Navi Pillai and the Petition was received by one of her agents.
The Sri Lankan Government has given her full access to meet anyone of her choice without any restrictions whatsoever. If she is a freedom fighter for basic human rights globally, what was the necessity to prevent media access to these meetings?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Has she come to Sri Lanka with a secret agenda of her own?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
On her first day of series of meetings in Sri Lanka, during her meetings with the Hon Minister of Justice Mr Rauf Rakeem, the High Commissioner has questionedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as to why the new Ministry of Law and Order has been set up under a Ministry other than ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Ministry of Justice?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ MinisterƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s polite response was that the allocation of Ministries is a prerogative of the Executive President.
Then during meeting with the Minister of National Languages and Reconciliation Mr Vasudewa Nanayakkara she has questioned whether 13 Amendment to the Constitution be altered. In his reply he asserted that .there are no indications at the moment.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (It is noteworthy that Mr Vasudeva Nanayakkara bow down with his body low down to Ms Pillai, as if he was receiving Queen Elizebeth the II).
Ms Pillai is likely to question on the missing 40,000 persons during the last phase of the War, as reported by Mr Marzuki Darusmaan, a bankrupt politician of Golkar Party of Indonesia of ex Dictator President Soeharto.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Is she able to provide the list of names and addresses of those missing 40,000 persons or simply attempting to discredit Sri Lanka based on a report which was prepared without ground work. Is she courage enough to acknowledge the killing of thousands of civilians by the LTTE, the details of which have already been reported by several writers on Lankaweb?
Conducting unscheduled meetings, preventing Media representation, questioning matters completely outside her terms of reference,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are clear indications of her lack of neutrality as a diplomat.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ By end of the tour, there is no doubt the South African born Indian Tamil Ms Navi Pillai will take home few new lessons to refurbish her diplomatic credentials.

It is obvious that Mrs. Pillay has a biased approach to what constitutes a human rights violation. Metaphorically speaking this woman has “cleared her desk” of any other more pressing issues burning across the world and focused all her attention on Sri Lanka which begs the question is Pillay acting on her own or is she being influenced by the Global Tamil forum or India?
While she made the visit to Sri Lanka, of course by invitation, she has failed to address more pressing human rights issues that need her immediate attention. Right now the Coptic Christians of Egypt are facing massive discrimination where their churches are being destroyed, bibles burned and Christians killed. The Coptic Christians are literally facing extinction by the hands of the government. In Myanmar the Buddhist are literally pushing the Muslims out into the ocean while entire Muslim villages are burned to the ground. They too are facing a future where even their homeland of Bangladesh refuse to accept them and like the Coptic Christians o of Egypt face death.
In India massive violations of human rights occur on a daily basis as her abnormal Caste system reduces the lives of the lower casts to less than animals and on a daily basis their human rights are not only violated, they themselves are violated for according to the present practice of the Caste system higher casts can rape a Dalit woman or even burn down a Dalit village with little consequences. India professes to have on her books anti Caste regulations but in practice is a litany of caste based regulations applied to even those who have converted to other faiths. Many government documents demand they report their caste in a similar manner that Nazi Germany demanded that all people report what faith they belong in order to filter out the Jews. Then there is the ever growing sexual assaults on not just women but little girls again on a daily basis. One only has to Google “Times of India” and check the section labeled “city”. Every day a child, even infant females to grandmothers are raped as India’s culture is metamorphosing into a culture of rape.
In Syria the Assad government has been accused of using nerve gas on her people killing over a thousand men women and children to the extent that the US is willing to engage Damascus in a war. These are events currently taking place where the life of so many are about to be snuffed out and somehow the issue that happened in 2009 take precedence over these issues.
When viewed under this the head of the UNHRC’s comments have to be summarily dismissed for she is not addressing any human rights issues but playing politics. Considering this bigoted woman’s extended term will end in 2014 while Sri Lanka will continue on, one of the best things to do is do nothing till this woman is removed out of office. Sri Lanka cannot bow to any organization, entity or nation whose biased views demand wrong actions by the powers in Sri Lanka.
Under George Bush the US boycotted the UNHRC for including nations with human rights violations. The US being a member nation had the right to do so and in the same light Sri Lanka being a sovereign nation has the right to dismiss the arbitrary racially biased findings of this woman Navi Pillay. As long as the UNHRC remains hijacked by this Tamil woman Sri Lanka should ignore her and the UNHRC till they deal with the issues of those who supported LITE commit the genocidal acts first and foremost before dealing with the end of a war.

I just got some news from a friend in the island nation. He tried to put a paid advertisement in the Daily News and the Island news papers. The DN Advertising manager refused to publish it even it was a paid advertisement. The Island took it and the money but later refused to publish it and offered to refund the money.
The ad was a 2 columns by 5 cm:
” Navi Pillai; Hon UNHRC You are an Indian colonial parasite from Africa Hence you should keep out of the affairs of the subjects of the Indian Empire”
The DN is a government run news paper and the Island’s owner Upali Wijeyawardana was blown off by the Indian colonial parasites of Malaysia, agents of the Indian Empire.
