Compromising ‘Chinthanaya’ – A National Treachery!

‚ Addressing a media conference, at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Headquarters, National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said that even if the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) won the NPC election, the Council would not be given more powers than others.

After failing to get the JVP-â„¢s support to run the government, President Mahinda Rajapakasa had to look for MPs in order to secure the numbers in the parliament after his first election as the President. Although the President was elected with a clear majority to lead the country according to the pledges he made under -ËœMahinda Chinthanaya-â„¢, his party (SLFP) had only 57 MPs in the parliament and he has had no other alternative other than compromising his -ËœChinthanaya-â„¢ for survival. All hardcore federalists led by old Marxists groups surrounded the President and pledged their support and managed to direct his -ËœChinthanaya-â„¢ towards 13th ‚ A (plus). ‚ Vasudeva is one of those who believed and preached us that the war against LTTE was un-winnable and hence any solution should be acceptable to the LTTE.

It is not surprising at all that a personality like Minister Vasudeva has now rose to a level of government spokesperson, after the President-â„¢s decision to go ahead with the NPC election under the existing 13th ‚ A, without any changes, ignoring the warning from nationalists groups in and outside the government. ‚

The sinister motive of those opportunists is to start with 13th A for the time being. They know very well that whatever the President proposes as a so-called solution, at this stage, will be blindly accepted by the people. Both Vasudeva and his brother in law, Wigneswaran , TNA-â„¢s CM candidate , are aware that implementation of 13th A is the beginning of implementation of the Thimpu demands (distinct nationality, traditional homelands, self-determination) as claimed in the following statement of Indian PM Rajiv Gandhi to the Indian Parliament on July 31, 1987.

The Agreement meets the basic aspirations which have animated the Tamils-â„¢ struggle, namely, the desire to be recognised as a distinct ethnic entity; political autonomy for managing their political future; and appropriate devolution of governmental power to meet this objective, the recognition of the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka as areas of historical habitation of the Tamils and the acknowledgment and designation of Tamil as an official language of Sri Lanka.

The Agreement constitutes the Eastern and Northern Provinces of Sri Lanka into one administrative unit with an elected Provincial Council; and a Chief Minister. Powers would be devolved… to ensure a full measure of autonomy to the Provinces in Sri Lanka.”

On August 2, 1987, Rajiv Gandhi told a public meeting in Madras that “The Agreement secures everything that the Sri Lankan Tamils had demanded, short of breaking Sri Lanka-â„¢s unity. In fact, it goes well beyond the initial demands of the Sri Lankan Tamils. Under the Agreement, approximately one-third of Sri Lankan territory will be made into a single province where the Tamils will have a clear majority. They will have regional autonomy comparable to State governments in India … “ (-ËœThirteenth Amendment plus … a look at probabilities-â„¢ by Foxwatch -” Sunday Island dated 19/07/09).

Whatever said and done by those who promote 13th A as a starting point, the above declared reality of the treacherous Agreement and the resulted 13th A to the Constitution would have known better by Rajiv Gandhi, the Indian PM, than anyone else since it was the Indian civil servants who were instrumental when drafting the Agreement.

While addressing at the ceremonial opening of the Fourth Session of the Sixth Parliament on 19th May 2009, President Rajapaksa said that there are only two communities in this country. One is the people who love this country. The other comprises the small groups that have no love for the land of their birth. Those who do not love the country are now a lesser group.

The said two communities were quite visible during the last two presidential elections. Those who love the country strongly supported the candidature of Mahinda Rajapaksa ‚ (MR) while the other group were either not visible in the campaign in support of‚  MR or‚  openly supporting the opposition candidates.

‚ It is very unfortunate if the candidate chosen by those who love the country is now committed to an undisclosed third party, due to the influence of those small groups that have no love for the land of their birth, to implement the concepts of traditional homeland, knowingly or unknowingly, paving the way for the gradual disintegration of the country on racial basis.

Minister Nanayakkara, according to the said media report, said the UPFA could easily win the North-Western and Central Provincial Councils, but was uncertain of the outcome in the Northern Province.‚  It is definite that the TNA will interpret the election results in NPC as an approval of their claims in the manifesto.‚  At the same time, it is also quite possible that those treacherous opportunities within the government may claim that the UPFA win in North-Western and Central Provincial Councils as an approval of 13th A by the people in the South, in order to provide the moral support to the President to not to abolish the 13th A.

If the sinister motive of those opportunists succeeds, in decades to come, it will be the future generation who will have to face the consequences since any attempt to reverse such move would be disastrous.

“Mahinda Chinthanaya” = handing over the entire northern province to LTTE (TNA).

What a cursed traitor we created with sacrifices in lives, flesh and blood.

IF there is some patriotism still left in him, he has to take EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES to save SL. Unless he does that I see him as a worse enemy of the nation than FAT VELU.

At least FAT VELU died for his nation (imaginary). SL dies to keep MR happy!!!

    Lorenzo!!

I think you have gone too far this time … calling MR a CURSED TRAITOR!

President Mahinda Rajapaksa liberated and reunified the nation that we are now trying to prevent from disintegrating again. If he had not done that … we would not anything to defend and protect now.

Let us not be ungrateful by ignoring his patriotic achievements; let us maintain a balanced perspective. What we should be doing is giving him all the support and incentive necessary NOW to repeat his sterling performance in waging Eelam War IV!

  3. Lorenzo Says:

    Ananda,

War was won by the sacrifices of MANY.

    MR gave the political leadership.
    GR did the strategies.
250,000 SINHALA soldiers (Tamil and Muslim very very small)
People paid taxes, remitted money to buy weapons, etc.
26,500 virtually all Sinhalese soldiers died.

This was how the war victory was achieved.

It is not MR’s private contribution.

So MR has no right to take FULL CREDIT for war.

And MR ha NO RIGHT to allow TNA.

If a farmer nicely milks a cow and then drops ONE SMALL piece of shitt into it, is there any worth?

MR collected milk into bucket with the sacrifices of others and now he has dropped a LOAD of shitt into it.

Ananda, Your assessment is correct. That is the scenario of things to come and only way to remain in power. Our people should not fall for that. Will it not be a big league affair?.

  5. douglas Says:

No one either deny or forget the contributions, politically and logistically, contributed by the President and his team in eradicating the LTTE menace. Also we must not and never forget the supreme sacrifices made by the men and women of all the armed forces. Let everyone remember and talk about this war in many more generations to come. If anyone makes an attempt to distance those who fought for us and brought us peace, I consider him or her to be insane or traitorous.

MR did what was entrusted to him and expected of him by the people and for the people. Yet, that does not mean he is empowered to do the rest of governing the country afterward as he pleases according to his whim and fancies. We know his “Mahinda Chinthanaya” was the result of denying that “Manifesto” to be put out by the SLFP, by the then ruling elite of the party. This is where the “Chinthnaya” became the wild ass, because MR failed to “discipline” his own “Chiththa” and became a “slave” to his own mind set of “delusion of personal self” (Sakkayaditti) – the mother of all egoism. Having identified this “weakness” in him the “vultures”gathered and today we see how they are having a “feast” and the real people who put him in power (the voters) have been pushed to a side until another election is held. MR himself says we have to look after “ape miniha” and we know who these “ape minihas” are.

It is good for MR to be reminded of Lord Buddhas supreme advice: “SACHCHITHA PARIYO DAPANAN,ETHANG BUDDHANU SASANAM”. In other words “Discipline your chittta and your “Chinthanaya”(a product of chitta) will also be wholesome and beneficial to the rest of the world. As at date the “chitta” has gone wild and so is the “chinthanaya”.

    Lorenzo,

I share your sense of disappointment and frustration … and even anger … at what is happening now; but we must maintain a balanced perspective.

Yes, Eelam War IV was won by the combined skills and sacrifices of MANY, but without the LEADERSHIP of President Mahinda Rajapaksa … none of those PATRIOTS would have had the opportunity to contribute to the Defeat of Terrorism and the Reunification of our Motherland. We have to only look at the SORRY ARRAY of previous Presidents of Sri Lanka who failed to confront the Eelamists as President Mahinda Rajapaksa did.

More than any of us, MR knows the pressures and the enemies arrayed Sri Lanka. He knows well that the CONSEQUENCES of making the wrong decision would be to LOSE ALL THAT HAS BEEN GAINED. It is EASY for us to complain, but hard for him to do. Uneasy lies the head wears the crown!

Therefore, even as we OPPOSE the PC Elections and the foreign imposed 13th Amendment, and propose ways and means of confronting Sri Lanka’s internal and external enemies, let us not cut-off our noses to spite our faces, by bringing down the PRIMARY BULWARK able and willing to resist the DISMANTLING of Sri Lanka. INstead let us CONTINUE to support him, criticizing him SOFTLY where needed.

  8. Lorenzo Says:

    Ananda,

It is far worse than that.

He is the ONLY president in this country who allowed an election in the north on a provincial basis. Even in 1988 it did NOT happen.

If you look at election results you can see the damage. TNA campaigned for a separate state. Now the international community will say Tamils have a right to SELF DETERMINATION. They have showed it in votes.

MR may know the consequences of his decisions but he is too CHICKEN to take the RIGHT decision.

That fools Namal and Yoshitha will learn a very nasty lesson now. Tamil people have TOTALLY rejected those idiots. They were the ones ran the UPFA election campaign in the north. Even the buggers who came to their meetings had NOT voted for them!!

UPFA spent at least a BILLION rupees in the north BUYING votes. People took the money but voted for TNA. ONLY EPDP (LOW caste voters) voters have remained faithful.

IF MR is continued to go along this path, there will be NO nose, face, etc. of SL.

SOFTLY criticizing is NOT the way to go!! What he has done is CRIMINAL and equals to NATIONAL DISMEMBERMENT.

If a 5 year old breaks a TV it is OK. But if a 5 year old kills his mother it is NOT OK (to say the least).

  9. Nanda Says:

    Well said Lorenzo.
We have a 68 year old , killing his mother and escaping to New York. What worse could it get ?
