Western Provincial Councillor Malsha Kumaranatunga asserts that she and her father have no intention of crossing over from the ruling UPFA  government.

Denying rumours that she would join the common opposition she said that President Rajapaksa deserved to serve a third term.

I believe President Mahinda Rajapaksa deserves to serve third term and I pledge my fullest support to him,” she said.

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Kumaranatunga said crossovers were unconstitutional.

I know people will not believe me when I say we will not cross over. But we will not.  Many people crossed over for personal reasons.

Mostly from what I see everyone who crossed over to support the common candidate did so for personal reasons. I respect their opinion because everyone has a right to have his or her own opinion. But I believe it is unconstitutional. That is why my father and I will not cross over,” she said.

Ms. Kumaranatunga said that they were elected because people voted for them and their party.

People have voted us and the party as well. I do not want to be a traitor by joining another party with the votes I gained from this. For a person to cross over he or she must first resign his post and then join. I will not go,” she said. (Chathushika Wijeyesinghe)

    Seems like a sensible person.

Loved Malsha’s ice bucket challenge. That was fun.

But do the right thing Malsha.

    This says it all:

“People have voted us and the party as well. I do not want to be a traitor by joining another party with the votes I gained from this.”

I just DISLIKE NOR TRUST, ship-jumpers from any party …. especially on the eve of an election when they suddenly develop a “BURNING CONSCIENCE” after happily feeding at the trough of their party for years!

If you develop a tingling sensation that mandates a JUMP, do so a couple of years BEFORE an election when there is NOTHING IMPORTANT HAPPENING that your party needs you for.

To JUMP after HIDING IN THE GRASS like a rattlesnake at the MOST DEADLY and DAMAGING TIME to EXTRACT MAXIMUM PERSONAL PROFIT & POWER is just RANK TREACHERY that REEKS of GREED and GREAT DISHONOR!

CROSSING OVER seems to have become a PARTY GAME in Sri Lanka; but it is NO GAME, but a display of the sad degradation of PERSONAL HONOR and PERSONAL INTEGRITY among politicians in Sri Lanka.

When PERSONAL INTEGRITY vanishes, what else of value is there to hold close to one’s heart? NOTHING!

A ship is going to sink. Another ship has come and want to help the passengers. Those who be lives ship will not sink will stay. Those who sees the danger jump to the other ship. This is called Operation Health and Safety Procedure !

  4. Ananda-USA Says:

A ship has been sabotaged from within, it is definitely going to sink if the bomb is not discovered and defused. An enemy ship has arrived alongside promptly to help the bombers, unwilling to wait to see the bombs go off, to escape before they do. That certainly is conducive to maintaining the Health and Safety of the bombers, but rather unfortunate for the other law abiding passengers on board the bombed ship, blissfully trusting in the rules to preserve their health!
