Afghanistan has won all three matches in the qualifying round, beating Scotland, Hongkong and Zimbabwe. The wicket keeper and opener Mohammad Shahzad scored 142 runs in 99 balls in the three matches. Mohammad Nabi, the low order batsman and bower scored 59 runs and taken 6 wickets.
In contrast Sri Lanka lost both warm up matches against New Zealand and Pakistan. The New Zealand gave a drubbing to the reigning World Champions Sri Lanka. In these two innings, Dilshan faced 5 deliveries and failed a score a single run. Our all rounder Tissara Perera had taken 2 wickets and given away 69 runs, whilst batting had scored 11 runs in 11 balls faced, in the two matches.
Beating Afghanistan today is an uphill task for Sri Lanka. No one should be surprised if Afghans annihilate the current World Champions. The morale of Sri Lankan team is extremely low.
During the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka played and lost a losing battle with Pakistan, as both teams failed to reach the finals. Even though this was not a Final, the VVIP stand was full of Sri Lankan disgusting dignitaries, such as Thilanga Sumathipala, Dayasiri Jayasekera and illustrious but dubious Wijitha Muni Soysa dressed in full European suit. After all Sri Lanka is now a very rich country, even these pedestrian VVIPs could enjoy perks wily nilly, even though shamefully the Government is failing to provide power supply to the country. Any hopes of watching the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and the entire tournament live will be at the mercy of “Most inefficient Post Independent Government of Sri Lanka”
The hardworking players comforts and their basic grievances are not being addressed. They are being given Lectures on Leadership by convicted criminals like Sarath Fonseka. Do you listen to convicted criminals to enhance your morale? The entire Sri Lankan Cricket is run by lethargic corruptors.
It is very hard for me to mention the name of a single team in the 2016 World Cup fixtures, that Sri Lanka is capable of beating. Beating Afghanistan will be a miracle. If Sri Lanka can produce a miracle today, full credit must be given to the Team. We wish them very best.

the country. Tamils, mussies and catholics always vote for them and in return UNPatriotics always
look after them. So with some pathaloical lies, they can fool some Sinhalese donkeys and
they always win. So who wants to do any work?

They almost lost to Afgans when Sangakkara Mahela et al was there. I think they were 6 for 50 or something but managed to win.
This time around, I don’t know MR is not there to support but his ex-friends Thilanga Sumathipala, Dayasiri Jayasekera and illustrious but dubious Wijitha Muni Soysa will be there dressed in Indian Suit with Red Saatake.

Jokes aside, Dilshan ( who shouldn’t be there at all but thanks to politics he is there) will fire today. Ir means all will fire. Score 200 + if we bat first.
But if we bowl first, it will be a disaster.
I am optimistic we will win. Regardless of politics.

Its true however that to say Ranil , Siri and CBK are in the centre of thigs not only cricket is an understatement albeit the previous regime having a different approach to sports where mercifully the Rajapaksa sons et al had no part in cricket!!
If Sri Lanka does not beat Afghanistan resoundingly they should do an ILLA ASWIMAK ( VOLUNTARY EXIT) FROM THE T20 WC.and go home

Why not give Ambassador post ( Zim) to Dilshan and send him there ?
There is no shame at all to loose to Afgans. As I said we nearly lost to them last time. It is the way of looing that matters. As long as “every ball getting hit, every hit getting bowled” doesn’t happen loosing is OK.
