Presidential Poll: Now, Ranil wants to contest

UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, yesterday, told a group of senior lawmakers that he would definitely contest the forthcoming 2019 presidential election. Wickremesinghe told the gathering at the Temple Trees that those who didn’t accept that could take a political decision.
Party sources said that among those who had been present were UNP Chairman Kabir Hashim, Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella, General Secretary of the party Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, John Amaratinga, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Ravi Karunanayake and Daya Gamage.
Sources said that Sajith Premadasa faction had been represented by Kabir Hashim, Ranjith Madduma Bandara and Malik Samarawickrema. At the onset of the meeting, the PM said that he would like to contest the presidential poll as he had the backing of all segments of the party, including the grassroot-level people.
Wickremesinghe said that the proposal in respect of his candidature would be soon made to the Working Committee. The meeting concluded after they agreed on one-on-one between Wickremesinghe and Premadasa on Sunday (8)

Finally Ranil got the backbone to stand & head to think. First Ranil lost to Mahinda in 2020 he can loss to new comer Nagananda. Plan now itself where to run Therupathi or Welikada with Mahendran & others.

Chief Thief Ranil Wikunanasinghe does not care if he loses the Presidency or the PM’s post, but he STRONGLY CARES about keeping hold of the Party Leadership which is his SOURCE OF POWER!
He wants to DIE in office as the Maximum Leader of the UNPatriotic Party… he DARE NOT LOSE THAT, even if the party is banished to the wilderness by the voters!
If Sajith, or ANYONE ELSE, becomes President, he may lose BOTH the UNP Leadership, and maybe even the PM’s post!
That would be SIMPLY AWFUL would that be to the Conniver in Chief! He would rather be Leader of the Opposition than lose the UNP Leadership!

What is unbearable about this Ranil FIASCO is that his stand is a open and brazen flouting of all this country holds as SACRED. It goes to show the absolute powerlessness of the masses to challenge his arrogance and ir-real perception of himself.
In short what this proves is that democracy has been a total failure in Sri Lanka. But most of all it proves the total failure of the Buddhist renaissance in Sri Lanka after centuries of colonialism.
What we really are experiencing is governance by divine decree…our rulers are monarchs by divine right. The so called peoples power is an absolute farce, a downright lie.
An individual proven to be an inept politician and a crook is challenging the voters. He is saying ‘stop me if you can’. Such is the corrupt power of the system or what we call the three branches of governance: legislature, executive and judiciary.
Furthermore this is an affront to Buddhism because these three branches of governance have constituted themselves into a HOLY TRINITY. This Ranil (as everyone else operating within this system) is literally proclaiming himself to be the INCARNATION of that Holy Trinity: the God-Man. What we are seeing in Buddhist Sri Lanka’s political system is a fully operative Catholic Faith.
Catholic Faith in action? Absolutely yes. There is the Triune God camouflaged as Legislature, Executive and Judicary and there is this Ranil (an epitome of the system) declaring himself to be the incarnation of the God-Head. And our Buddhist leaders are totally blind to this fact. All they do is decry colonialism and its evils. They pride themselves in the Panadura Vaadya. But they are publicly and overtly upholding the very Faith that they condemn as having been a disaster to this country: as having been the source of its political, social and religious woes.
I repeat this Ranil situation is a brazen revelation of the operation of the Catholic Faith in its political dimension.
We know that Rome conquered Greece. Yet in the final analysis it is the conquered Greece that led Rome by its nose. Captive Greece took captive her conqueror. Not I who say so but the great Horace. so too conquered Catholicism has in reality conquered its conqueror Buddhism.
The entire endeavour of Buddhist Sri lanka was to throw away the shackles of colonialism with its religious weapon the Catholic (taken as the embodiment of the Christian) faith. But in the end Catholic Faith that has triumphed under the very noses of the Buddhist leaders and flock who erroneously and ignorantly are trumpeting their falsetto Cock-a-Doodle-Doo.
Try to understand this Guys, all that Migettuwatte Gunananda Thera, Olcott, and Anagarika Dharmapala did was like throwing POL-LELI into gushing waters of Sri Lankan post-colonial development. The have served for nothing. Ultimately what has really triumphed is the Catholic Creed the very first verses of which read: I believe in the Holy Trinity and in the incarnation of God as Man.
This is the absolute truth that our political system and all its partisans openly profess while holding PUJA at the Sri Dalada Maligawa and worshiping the feet of these good for nothing Mahanakayes.
