There is a saying in the West, “everything has a price”.  The $4 billion dangled by the western co-chairs was enough of a deal maker for then prime minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and his right-wing cabinet, to agree to sell our mother.

Similarly, Ronald Regan’s promise to come to the aid of J R Jayawardena – Wickremasinghe’s uncle – was another instance of bungling by a traitorous leader of Lanka who was ready to sell our mother Lanka in order to sing his glory to the world.  That bungling antagonized India and the Soviet Union and got us embroiled in the white-man’s cold-war politics.  For Indira Gandhi, however, that was just the excuse needed to expand India’s hegemonic goal – the Tamil terrorists were just the cat’s paw.

Speaking of traitorous leaders, Don Juan Darmapala comes to prominence.  His price was the protection of European Portuguese Plunderers, to stay in power in Kotte – no different from the more recent Kotte traitors who tried to sell mother Lanka.

Things have changed!

[It would be good for Mr. Sullivan to take a tour of Tamil Nadu to see the “ƒ”¹…”civilian administered’ squalor, and see the condition of the low-cast Tamil Dalits, who may need the big dollar aid.  Then with “ƒ”¹…”free and unfettered access’ to the millions of Tamil Dalits there he can offer US aid through the services of the international NGOs, ICRC etc.

Mr. Sullivan shouldn’t  forget to tag along the Human Rights Watch (HRW) people, and Mrs. Navinathan Pillai, a Tamil herself, of the UN Human Rights Commission, to look into the “bride-burning” issue in Tamil Nadu.]
