SOMA KUMARI TENNEKOON DEAD

Soma Kumari Tennekoon, a leading campaigner for the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party, died while campaigning for her party in the Southern Provincial Council elections.
She died of a heart attack at the Hambantota Hospital after suddenly taken ill during the campaign.
Soma, who is a member of the Wayamba Provincial Council and a former parliamentarian was 47 when she passed away.
She is the daughter of the late Mudiyanse Tennekoon who was popularly known as the Podi putha being the youngest member of the 1956 parliament.
