Malwatte Chapter, the Church and Fonseka
Posted on February 12th, 2010

Dr.P.A.Samaraweera, Australia

Ven. Tibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera, chief Buddhist Monk of Malwatte has said, “… It was a grave crime to imprison a war hero who had done an immense service to eradicate terrorism…Even if such a person does something wrong he should be pardoned…”

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ With due respect to the Malwatte Chief Monk, we wish to ask him if he knows about what the Military Act says regarding the release of Military secrets to the enemy. Human Rights Organisations and some western countries are waiting to take Sri Lanka for war crimes before a War Tribunal. So we hope that Malwatte Chapter could separate the chaff from the wheat without aligning with the Church and supporting Fonseka, who overnight became greedy for power.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ According to the Union of Catholic Asian News, Fr. M.Sathivel, and Fr. S. Iddamalgoda, Catholic Human Right Activists have said that the, “… arrest is unfair and undemocratic… the arrest is political business, not democratic action…”

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The support given by the Church to Fonseka is not surprising because the Church was always for the division of the Buddhists and in the long term separation of Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Church which backed the LTTE from the inception has now made a twist and is backing Fonseka. The reason why the Church supports him is because he is sponsored by the UNP whose leader is Ranil. And Ranil has no Buddhist family lineage. His father, the late Mr. Esmond Wickremasinghe, was a practicising Christian belonging to the Church of England. It is no longer a public secret that on the day of his marriage in 1995, Ranil took his fiancee early in the morning to the residence of the Bishop of Colombo for his blessings.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Will a practicising Buddhist ever seek the blessings from a Christian Priest when he happens to be the Chief Dayakaya of the hallowed Kelaniya Rajamahaviharaya?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is because of Ranil’s linkage to the Church that the Christian Church is shedding crocodile tears for Fonseka. Perceptive observers had publicly accused the Church of being the invisible hand behind the LTTE’s violent campaign to destroy the unitary state of Sri Lanka. And now they support Fonseka who aligned with the Tamil National Alliance which is a proxy of the LTTE.

What a load of crap from these hypocrites who have left Sri Lanka for greener pastures. There in anarchy here in Sri Lanka and it is the responsibility of all citizens immaterial of their religious beliefs to unite to safeguard democracy. To make a blanket statement like “The Church which backed the LTTE for ther inception” shows your ignorance and narrow minded outdated attitudes. Please stcik to the affairs of your adopted country and leave us address the issues here

There are thousands of patriotic Sri lankans livinng all over the world who love their country and take interest in their motherland. Their interest in their motherland is not “a load of crap!” as gemgem says.

Besides, the term “a load of crap” is an American term, which leads one to believe the writer is a lover of American-English [who might himsel/herself be living in an adopted country like the USA], and cast doubt in his rant “leave us address the issues here”.

You better say that to the LTTE diaspora, USA, EU ,UN who try everything on earth to stop the war ans SAVE LTTE leadership. All who write here has been defending our country against such forces, putting thier time and effort to save the country from all external evil forces.

Mike from Australia-Weiss is a dumb idiot. How can a Sinhalese abuse President Rajapakse and Gotabaya? What sort of blood run in their veins? Mahinda is the greatest leader SriLanka ever had.

Gota, from the start planned to liberate SriLanka. With the President’s assistance, he established liaison with countries like Russia, China,Iran,Chechniya,Pakistan and India and bought weapons, then He strengthened the defence forces by adding thousands and thousands of new recruits. Massive funds were allocated for the war effort. Thank Gota for the victory and not abuse him. If not for him Paraba will still be in charge. So another woman starts crying in SriLanka. First it was Sirimavo Bandaranaike then her daughter Chandrika kumaratunga and now Anoma Fonseka. If you all had safeguarded your husbands by moderating their behaviours this would not have happened. The Bandaranaikes destroyed the country by their racist policies and created division. Now Fonseka divulged state secrets and publicly stated he will be a witness before the war crimes tribunal in Geneva. Dont cry for me SriLanka! Only traitors will oppose Mahinda and Gota. The Monks who support Fonseka are JVP supporters. Be weary of them.
