Ranjit WickremeratneƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Dear Mr.President same way you rescued our Motherland from ruthless terrorism please help to save our children from evil human beings and bad habbits. You and your Government is doing so much to uplift the standard of our young generation and your Education Minister was helping you and the country on this noble mission and we are very greatful to you and to your Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Children are the most valuable asset any parent can have. Every parent’s wish is thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their children to have a good Education, being smart and good in their behaviour and to be in a nice position when they grow up.

No parent likes to see their children go wasted in their life. When we were small first thing we learned was Discipline and to respect elders and so on but unfortunately now adays you dont find children adhere to those principles. The Government is doing everything in their power to disciplined our society including the children but Government alone cannot do thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ we as parents must take the responsibility too. Most of the blame should go to the parents and teachers for the deterrent situation in Schools and in Universities.

Discipline should come from home. If the parents were little watchful of the behaviour and the activities of their children from their small days then they can expect a fairly good child when they grow up. Religion can help the children to be a better person in my thinking and the parents should encourage their children from their small days to worship the parents, worship the books before start learning, worship the Teachers and eldersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and so on. Private tution makes children forgets all the disciplines. It’s heartning to see children waste their time and energy on roads, busses, movie theaters, parks etc. when they supposed to be in classes.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Children needs Tution to pass their exams and get higher studies but not the way it happens today in our society roaming around in couples and behaving disgracefully on street corners and in places where children not supposed to be. We need to take stern action and there should be a law prohibiting children visiting movie theaters, malls and other places during the school hours. Mr.President you are a father to our nation visiting far far places and always embracing the children’s hearts around the country. Your Government give them food, books and facilities where no other leader has given and you are encouraging children to be more educatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and be good citizens to serve our Motherland.

If you can make arrangements to stop this tution classes and hire more qualified teachers in all subjects toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  schools around the country where they can extend their class hours and teach the children in their schools itself will be far more better and we can expect more useful children in the society to serve our country. You may have read in the newspapers recently regarding what theseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unscrupless educational pandithayas were doing to the children in our society.

They open classes around the country in cities and in towns and amass millions from these poor children and do dirty things which ultimately they get in to trouble. Like checking Hotels and other business premises, Garbage and so on the Goverment should check tution classes around the country and see whether the teacher or teachers were qualified and the same time check their personnal character and issue licences accordingly to carry on their classes. I think that will help to avoid bad elements poisoning our young generationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in our society.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Mr.President nowadays we hear very bad stories regarding children and sometimes couldn’t believe such children exists in our society.”Son rapes his ownƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mother” Brother rapes the sister” Ten year child pregnant, Boy stabs his girl friend for having an affair with another boy” unbelievable headlines in our newspapers. What has happened to our society? Can we allow to go on like this with our CHILDREN? If the parents were much more careful and behind their children checking every move of their activities then we can save these children. We need to be very strict with mobile phones, rated R books & Movies and mushroom clubs in street corners where they organize wild parties etc.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tough laws should be introduced to erradicate drugs, sex, phonography and child abuse. Police should be tough on the children who break the law and punished accordingly.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Children must be taught in their class rooms to be away from bad habbitsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and check their behaviour all the time by teachers for bad elements.Teachers should have a close cooperation with the parents and have mutual understanding each other to bring up a good child to the society. Daham pasala will be a perfect place to mould a better child and every parent should encourage their children to attend classes and encourage bigger children to participate in religious activities in their own worship places. Our society cannot be a murderers society. We are famous for our kindness and gentleness.

We cannot produce Prabakaran’s in our schools. We need sons and daughters who will be useful to our Motherland in the likes ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Anagarika Dharmapala, Munidasa Kumarathunga, D.S.Senanayaka’s, Mahinda Rajapksa,SWRD, Sir JohnƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ , Sri Rahula Himi etc who was brave enough to stand up for their principles.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Any violent act by school going childrenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ should be severly dealt with iron hand. University chidren should not be allowed to indulge in ragging innocent students. All violent acts in schools and universities should be stopped and must not allow politicos to use children for their own benefit. Child is a child and we should protect the child from any danger and allow him or her to grow as a child until he become a man and a woman where we all can be proud of and useful to the society.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Government and the parents should unite together and try to save our children fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ wolves roaming around them to make a good educated, loving society for everyone to be proud of. We whole heartedly appreciate what this Government does to the youth of this country. They can use all the resources availble in the country to enhance their studies and to be in a good position when they grow up. All the religious leaders in every faith can help our children in various ways in their capacity as religious leaders.

Buddhist Priests should be away from dirty politics and do their duty to our nation as pupils of Lord Buddha to make our Motherland A JUST SOCIETY.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They have an enomous duty to the nation at this hour. They can help the young generation more than anyone else because everyone respect the religion in my country. We are a Buddhist nation with proud culture and civilization. We cannot allow foreigners to destroy our beliefs and tarnish our Image and our young generation by introducing all foreign bad habbits to our society. After the victory we got a new feeling and love towards our Motherland and this is the good time to correct our past mistakes and to move forward. We are fortunate to have a leader who loves the Motherland and show the way to be righteousness people. He wants every child to be educated and to be a perfect child not to be a burden to the society.

Your fight against drugs, Alcohol and smoke should be commendable Mr.President. We need leaders of your calibre not traitors who teach bad habbits to young children and who talks foul language in front of children like Ranil, Sarath Fonseka, Somawansa. Their phrases were Hora, Balla, Buruwa, Halagemba, Nariya etc which these wordsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ can be ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ easilyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ remembered by children. These leaders cannot be an example to a societyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as they were poisoning the people’s minds.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ To be a better person your mind should be clear and clean first, to do that we need spiritual learning from the begining, that’s the reason we should encourage children to be more close to theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Temple and learn about our religion BUDDHISM where it teaches to be a good person.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Most of our children dosen’t know the history of our religious places and cities around the country. We should have small booklets with pictures where they carry in their pockets printed in Sinhalese, English and Tamil where every child and adult as well as tourist can learn more about our land and culture in every historical place around the country. Mr.President take advise from educationists who loves our Motherland how to move forward in this educational area to give our young generationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a solid education to par with other western countries and to be usefulƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to serve our homeland.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Sincerly we appreciate what you and your Government does to make our country LIGHT OF ASIA with good educated society. We are proud to see your achivements in short period after you became our beloved President. We have to remove the drug menece, Phonography and underworld same like you eliminate Terror FROM OUR BEAUTIFUL LAND. Our whole nation should be united in this endeavour if we want our children to be saved. Please help Mr.President as you have some beautiful children on your own. Think of this whole nation as a father and help us to build a just society for every one to live in peace and prosperity.

Thinking of Childhood days, just something that came to my mind. From small days upto almost being teenagers, before leaving home for school, we had to kneel down and worship the Parents, and Grand Parents. If any relations are there, we had to worship them too. We were never asked to, but that was the accepted practice.

Can someone please enlighten me whether this practice is still being adhered to, in Colombo or Outstations ?

Then again, by 6.00pm we had to go to the shrine room and recite prayers, and then get on to studying and doing homework.

Presently there are many distractions like TV, and also drugs. So parental supervision and guidance is MANDATORY.

Discipline in schools have to be closely supervised. I remember when at College, a Prefect reported to Father Rector, of a student smoking in a hotel opposite the College. The student was called to Father Rector’s Office in the evening, and was told to come with both his parents the next morning. When the Student faced Father Rector with his parents, he was given a packet of cigarettes, and a box of matches, and requested the parents to take him home. They all broke down. That was in the name of DISCIPLINE. The talk went round the corridors that XXXX was sacked. Smokers went into hibernation.
