On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as you celebrate the 63rd anniversary of independence this February 4.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ª
Since Sri Lanka’s independence, our two countries have had a strong relationship based on mutual interests and a shared commitment to the ideals of democratic governance. We hope to continue our efforts to strengthen this relationship by assisting in post-war reconciliation to bring about a peaceful, prosperous, just and democratic future for all its citizens. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ªƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ª

Honorable Secretory of State Clinton, I as a Sinhala American, thank you for your congartulary letter. Please may I humbly request you remove Robert Blake from the operational sphere of Sri Lanka at the state department. This is because what he did and said was not that favorable to Rajapakse adminstration or to an avarage Sri Lanken. Only people who like him are Tamil Nadu Tamils with a notion of annexing the Northern and Eastern Provinces to Tamil Nadu.
Proud to Be a Sinhala American.

As the Sinhala saying goes, Ms. Clinton is ‘kissing the hand which cannot be chopped off’. Come on Lady, be honest just once and reveal your administration’s true intentions with regards to Sri Lanka.

We should accept with appreciation, the good wishes from the US Secretary of State, on the occasion of SL Independence Day, as I am sure we’d want the US to respond when President Rajapakse sends the US a similar message on the Fourth of July.
I remember being told as a child that it is a blessing to receive good wishes, and to accept such wishes with good grace and a thankful heart
