ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Dear Sir:
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Reference the news item that three Tamil politicians are complaining to India that Sinhalese were moving to the north, the question is why,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ if Sri Lanka is one country,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ anyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lankan can not move to any part of the country.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They did not object when the Tamils from the northƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ settled in their thousandsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in other parts of the country, neither did the other communities.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Why can not these Tamil politicians accept non Tamils in the north when other communities have accepted thousands of Tamils from the northƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ without running to India to ask India to stop them from leaving the north?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was the LTTE mantra that wanted a part of the country exclusively for the Tamils.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Did not the people of Sri Lanka suffer for three decadesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the fight against this claim? Should not these politicians, if they are Sri Lankans, and supposedly have democratic values, explain to the people of Sri Lanka whyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  they still have thisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mindset of exclusive areas for Tamils?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Another question that they should answer is why if they have been elected by Sri Lankan citizens to governing bodies in Sri Lanka they are not dealing with these issues with the other elected representatives of Sri Lanka. Do they believe that they areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a part of India? Are they planning toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ subject the north and it’s people to the Indian Government? It is a well known fact that the TNA was a mouthpiece for the LTTE and that India interfered in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ because of their actions against the GOSL and the people of Sri Lanka. It seems that they have still not realised that they are Sri Lankan citizens, not Indian citizens. These statements are a manifestation of theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ subservience to India and disloyaltyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to Sri Lanka.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It is time the people of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ made them understand that Sri Lanka is one country and as citizens of Sri Lanka, the people of Sri Lanka have the right to live and work in any part of the country.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That is a fundamental right. These statements by these politicians indicate that they do not believe in the fundamental right of freedom of movement,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ freedom to work and live in any part of the entire island. By their actions they are violating the rights of all the people of Sri Lanka.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Yours truly,
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

    Ira, well said.

The crux of the issue, as I see it, id the lax SL laws that permit these Tamil racists to incite racial-tensions with these types of anti-Sinhalese statements!

In the West there are strict laws, often called Anti-Hate Laws, where one can face serious repercussions for uttering statements that are pointedly designed to raise racial passions and racial hatred against any identifiable social group. However, appallingly, in Sri Lanka this sort of law is sadly lacking and hence these Tamil racist-separatist scum are today getting away with spewing their racial-hatred against the majority Sinhelas of the country with these types of baseless, narrow, ghettoized statements that invariably are designed to give rise to racial tensions and racial violence in the nation.

Have we not learned a bitter lesson over the past 30 years – that we callously allowed these types of Tamil racist sentiments to root in our society and such were instrumental in bringing about horrific consequences for us?

Not only that, these racists are employed as top Govt servants, cabinet Ministers etc and paid top salaries and perks; they travel around the country with STF Commandos guarding their worthless lives! Why oh why, do not we have the guts to arrest these scum upon their arrival at Katunayaka and herd them to jail?!!!! They carry on with their racist anti-Sinhala crusade so openly, so effectively yet under the cloak of ‘democratic Tamils’ ‘moderate Tamils’ -etc etc etc.. the white washing of the scum is also done by the Sinhalese! How can a rogue who does not salute the country’s flag or stand up for the National Anthem be part of the Cabinet? Where is their oath of allegiance to the country?

Sri Lanka should be for all its citizens. Sri Lanka is a nation state with different ethnic groups and Tamils should not have a claim for part of the country, just because they invaded and killed Singhalese, some time back. The whole of Lanka was the home land of the Sinhalese. and Tamil Nadu is the home land of the Tamils. Unfortunately, Singhalese have not been competitive enough to survive in the so called home land of the Tamils, and pushed out from their own home land.. In short the Singhalese have been pushed out from their own home land, due to lack of competitiveness. The law that operate in nature is survival of the fittest. The Sinhalese have not been competitive enough to survive in the North, East, Hill country and now even the Capital Colombo.
We cannot blame others for our own lack of competitiveness.
We appear to hang on to an Indian dogma that even Indians do not believe any more.
In order to survive, we need to have a will to win and survive and prepared to undergo pain and suffering to make a gain.
Dogmas that promote giving up desires s and make us fearful of hard work, (in case of suffering ) need to be dumped, as it creates people without a competitive spirit.
We need to ask how did we manage to lose a good chunk of our only homeland and learn lessons.
Tamils think of the` North and the East as captured areas from us and are reluctant to allow us in. In the near future if we are not careful, and continue to sleep, the Capital Colombo and the hill country will also be the Tamil home land. We have to, as a matter of priority, to minimise the threat to Lanka and the Sinhalese, need to dismantle mono ethnic areas in Lanka and allow the displaced Sinhalese back to the North and East and the hill country.
At the end of the day, if the Sinhalese are not fit enough to survive, due to their passive belief system, they may follow Nalanda Buddhists and could get wiped out. Indians have dumped Buddhism after the Nalanda debacle. We have to investigate why we are not competitive enough and need to take remedial measures. The modern world is highly competitive and now we are facing global competition and global threats.
As for Ananda many disputes could be eliminated if he treats the Sinhalese as his people, just as many of us like to consider Tamils as our people, the sons and daughters of Lanka. I still would like to respect Anada as an honest Tamil, but I may be wrong. Ananda could ow be considered as a threat to Lanka by being subservience to India and disloyalty to Sri Lanka. People disloyal to Lanka should be cosidered as a serious threat.
