What the (Christian) ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”International CommunityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ demanded from Sri Lanka in May 2009:

1. To immediately order a cease-fire in the war against the Roman Catholic LTTE Tamil terrorists.
2. To immediately make arrangements to have peace talks with the terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Sri Lanka SUMMARILY REJECTED both demands because:

(a). They were unwarranted and illegal interferences in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation by the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”International CommunityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢.

(b). They were a preposterous demand for a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”rightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ to flagrantly adopt double standards ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” and gross violations of the rule of law ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” since such demands were not applied to the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”international communityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ when it carpet-bombed Iraq for more than ten years, killing more than 1.2 million civilian men, women and children; and similarly bombing Afghanistan etc. with countless casualties of civilians;

(c). Further double standards since the self-styled ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”international communityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ bombings of Iraq, Afghanistan etc involved unlawfully invading sovereign countries, while Sri Lanka was defending itself, within its own sovereign territory, against immigrant Tamil terrorists; and.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

(d). Still more double standards since the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”international communityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ has also not made arrangements to have peace talks with Al Quaeda and other Muslim terrorists;

(d). Moreover, most of the so-called ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”international communityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ were, themselves, also guilty of war crimes, violations of Human Rights and violations of international law since most of them had, directly or indirectly financed, and supplied arms, explosives and equipment to, the Tamil terrorists for the terroristsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ twenty-seven terrorist war against Sri Lanka;

(e). Conversely, under the rule of law, the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-international communityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ claimed spurious ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”rightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ to casually write off the countless civilian deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”collateral damageƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ would also apply in the case of any civilian deaths in Sri Lanka during its anti-Tamil terrorist war;

(f). Above all, Sri Lanka, in common with all other countries, has the full legal right of self-defence against any invasionary attack against it, as was waged by the Tamil terrorists for more than twenty-seven years within Sri Lankan territory.

(g). Sri Lanka intends to demand that the United Nations Organisation ensures that reparations are paid to Sri Lanka by the countries which directly or indirectly financed and provided the arms, ammunition and equipment for the war crimes and Human Rights violations by the Roman Catholic Tamil terrorists in Sri Lanka during the twenty-seven years to May 2009.
