Lakshman Kiriella and Somawansa Amarasinghe should both keep their mouths shut.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We have enough of media men, local NGOs , leaders of trade unions, America and other ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ foreign interferers ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to mess up development, progress,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  peace andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  security of Sri Lanka without adding to it the failed politicians of the UNP and the JVP such as- Lakshman Jayakody and Somawansa Amarasinghe to name just two of them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They are failed politicians because they did not contributed to the elimination of terrorists,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to the infrastructureƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  development of the country, to bring together a nation that was divided through terrorism, or in the creation of a strongƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  nation of people who could face the onslaught ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  America and its allies to push Sri Lanka back towards underdevelopment, fragmentation of the communal fabric , social unrest and the possible revival of the now defunct terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UNP had been in the political scene from the beginning ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Independence but it began its downward descent since 1956.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The UNP leadership todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is not even a shadow of its predecessors.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Every thing they touched had been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a failure , their attempt to settle terrorism ended up in disaster with the signing of the CFA.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They have one language- the language of doom.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  JVP started worse. They had started the most ignominious rebellion in which thousands of youth wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  murdered, and more were made to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  murdered in reprisal by a more cruel government of the UNP.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That was when a terrorist war was raging in the north.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Strangely though Somawansa of JVP responsible for those murders dare speak today of the President of Sri Lanka as a dictator despite the fact that the President Rajapakse never murdered his countrymen but brought peace above all to a country that suffered for years in the north with terrorism and in the south with the rebels of the JVP.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And to a President who eliminated terrorism with his determination, with the correct stimulus to a neglected armed force and correct political leadership, Lakshman Kiriella of the UNP offers advice to implement the recommendation of the LLRC.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Lakshman Kiriella seems to have dropped with the last rain not to know, like the American State Department that theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Government ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Mahinda RajapakseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is matured enough with the experience it has gathered to implement the recommendations of the LLRC ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the President himself appointed without any one elseƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s aid and assistance.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is sad to note that neither the UNP nor the JVP has been wise to learn from the 30 years of terrorism and the three years of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ wise planning and determination that resulted in the elimination of terrorism and the thirty years of the suffering of the people under terrorism, to understand that theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Country is now under the correct leadership of a president who is taking it towards peace and progress.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Barack Obama in his bookƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Audacity of Hope, says that, at a receptionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  he asked a Washington hand who had served in and around the Capital for close to 50 years, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-what he thought accounted for the difference in atmosphere between then and now.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Then he had said,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ItƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s generationalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦..Back then ,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  almost everybody with any power in Washington had served inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  World War II. We mightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ve fought like cats and dogs on issues.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  A lot of us came from different backgrounds, different neighbourhoods, different political philosophies . But with the war, we all had something in common.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That shared experienceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  developed a certainƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  trust and respect.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It helped to work through our differences and get things done.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-shared experienceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ which developed a certain trust and respect,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in the context of Sri Lanka should be the 30years ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  suffering of a nation under terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But yet the UNP and JVP continue to think that compelling the government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse to fall from power is the means to win over the people and seize political power for themselves.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Knowing well that deviating the devotion of the people to Mahinda Rajapakse towards the UNP or JVP seems an impossible task they carry on a relentless campaign against the President Rajapakse, his brothers , and his government concocting all types of scandals whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  some people with English education, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ social ranks may believe, but the ordinary mass of the people will never accept.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And they know that it is the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ordinary mass of people which count at the end.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The UNPƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  divided into groups condemn various aspect of the Government of Sri Lanka, whileƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Lakshman Kiriella criticises governments human rights aspect Harsha de Silva criticisess the economic policies of the government, Jayalath Jayawardhana cost of living etc.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Their criticism of the government takes vindictiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  tones, and does not help the people to understand the real issues the government is confronted with vis ƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚  vis the International Community.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In their desire to make the governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unpopular and to topple the government through an uprising of the people against the government, makes them blind to the best method to follow to win the people over to their side to defeat theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Government at the next elections and take over political power into their own hands.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If the UNP and the JVP are wise they would stop the wild criticism of the government which is contrary to the constructive criticismƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  demanded by a Parliamentary opposition under a democratic system.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They should on the other hand ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ cooperate with the governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  which has rid the country ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism and follows the correct path for progress and development. They should help the government ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to surmount difficulties forced upon it by the International community. It is then that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the people will see the UNP in a different light and may when the time comes to change the governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  vote the UNP or the JVP ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to replace the government with the confidence that they will carry out the progressive policies followed by the Mahinda Rajapakse Government. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Otherwise both UNP and JVP will remain in the political wilderness for many years to come.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ One cannot understand their political strategy to think they could change the government , carrying on manifestations at the drop of a coin.

Indian imperialists were involved in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) long before 1948. Jaffna Youth Congress was formed around early 20th century (may be 1020s). The first Socialist collective in the island nation and it was instigated by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the world’s most celebrated Indian colonial parasite.

SWRD was financed by India and Indian colonial parasites in the island nation. These are the events that lead to the demise of the non Indians of the island nation. I want readers to think about what I say with an open mind.

Long before the end of the British Empire Indians like Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Jawahalal Nehru and Chandra Bose recognized what India is going to get after the end of the British Empire.

India is heavily involved in the former British dominions and have been very successful. Look at Uganda, when Idi Anmin stood up to the Indian colonists he was castrated by Indian imperialists. Mauritius is technically a part of India and the plight of local Creoles are what the non Indians in Sri Lanka will get.

Those who contributes to this site and live in the West should speak to these people to understand their plight at home.

Fiji is in trouble and it is another Indian job like UNHRC resolution against Ceylon.

Fiji’s patriotic leaders are not like the Sri Lanka’s leaders. Fiji is fortunate to have its leaders caring the 49% of the population (Native Fijians) not allowing the 51% of the population (Fiji Indians) rule the country. Bhani Marama and Rambuka are great leaders who give a damn to the West or the UNO. Fiji will never be ruled by the filthy Indians. To hell with the sanctions. Unfortunately Sri Lanka since independence lulled and patted the minorities and India forgetting the 78% of the population. Our leaders have no love for the country. Only pleasing India and minorities. Wake up GoSL and look what has happened to Colombo. Majority become the Minority. GoSL doesn’t care two hoots. Why not settle down the displaced Sinhalese and Muslims in the North and East? Don’t ask the people to help when the Indians and Americans are all out to get you. Shenali Waduge’s write up is sending the shivers down my spine. What the Indians did to East Pakistan is a good example. If GoSL didn’t do it now with the 2/3 majority when are you going to do it. That fool Dayan Jayatilleke is talking through the hole in the hat. Government spy? Jayathilleke you are a bloody shame to my mother lanka. I am calling for your resignation. 13A fully implement you are a bloody fool Jayathilleke. I like to check your bank account. Indian spy. Arent you the fellow who was stripped naked and kicked in your back side by the politicians?

IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND, WHY THE GOVERNMENT IS pussyfooting ON SCRAPPING THE HOODOO 13TH AMENDMENT. THIS DONE, 50% OF THE PROBLEMS WILL BE OVER FOR THE GOVERNMENT. AS A MINISTER JUST SAID, POLICE AND LAND POWERS WILL BE IN THE DOMAIN OF THE GOVERNMENT. TALKING THE TALK IS NOT ENOUGH. JUST LEGALISE BY KICKING THE 13th INDIAN OUT.

Many contributors to this Forum had said that the Government should re-intergrate the 80,000 Muslims, and 12,000 Sinhalese who were ethnically cleansed from the North, back to their Homes in the North. The Ministers responsible are not interested, as their time is consumed LINING their pockets.

IT IS TIME THAT THE GOVERNMENT MADE THE NORTH AND THE EAST, MULTI-ETHNIC. THE MORE THE DELAY, THE MORE PROBLEMS FOR THE GOVERNMENT. It is NOW or NEVER.

SORRY TO SAY, THE GOVERNMENT HAS FALLEN SHORT, IN THE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AFORESAID.

TASTE OF GENEVA, CLEARLY GIVES A SIGNAL. WE DO NOT HAVE TO APPEASE THE INDIANS AND THE CHURCH NOMORE.

  4. AnuD Says:

All these and all forms of foreign powers and their influence, local NGOs and these politicians who have made exploiting the country as their method of employment and rout to the success are nothing if the public think carefully. but, that does not happen.

What every politician does is exploiting the voter.

Sri Lanka will never Tamil problems if we concentrate on what the screaming Tamil politicians ask. Govt has all the powers to abolish the 13th amendment. Probably, they are waiting to make that another election promise.

Why don’t the major Sri Lankan political parties set up very strict guidelines and ask openness and from the candidates when electoral organizers are chosen to the party ? That will solve most problems and get rid of
these people looking for easy ways to make money.

At present, the only qualification is to have lot of money to spend on the election. So, the criminals and drug lords become qualified. In every poor country, these drug lords are Robin hoods. So, people like them.

  5. douglas Says:

Why we must ask these type of people to “shut up”? Instead, we Sri Lankans must “write them off” as bad debts, meaning unrecoverables in accounting terminology. There are many to add to this list, both in the Government and the Opposition. But unfortunately for us the “election system” that the JRJ enshrined in the Statute Books does’nt allow us to do that. That is why I say always get rid of this idiosynncratic “Manapaya” from the system so that none of these syndromic persons will not be found in the political field.

AnnuD – You are absolutely correct. The quontum of money talks and works. That is how we see Kudu Silvas and Gon silvas like characters inside the Parliament having roles of Ministers and Supervising Ministers.

  6. Lorenzo Says:

    DOGS BARK.

That is natural but the caravan MUST push on.

At the same time we need an opposition. If Rajapaksha thinks India is his relative he is no different to these bittches.

  7. jay-ran Says:

Lorenzo is correct!!! Dogs,I MEAN MAD DOGS BARK(like Lakshman Perera who changed the nam to KIRIELLA TO SHOW THE PUBLIC THAT HE TOO IS A KANDYAN) BUT THE CARAVAN MOVES ON!!! That whats happening in Sri Lanka.

  8. Kit Athul Says:

In a news media event (without a public meeting) Lashman Kiriella, told the media, after the Geneva meeting, that Sri Lanka has soured relationship with INDIA because by developing the Hambanttota Habor and the Air Port which has no impact on Sri Lankan economy. But will harm the Indian economy. Where is this man’s BRAIN? He clearly said that India voted against Sri Lanka because of that. Disinformation to the extreem lvele but will SINHALA sallow it? This ideot thinks so because he is on the pay roll of INDIAN RAW. Why do people vote for these dead UNP clowns? Tissa Attanayake etc. I do not know.

  9. stanley perera Says:

Kiriella is a con artist. He is not Kiriella. He is Perera. The man is isulting my friend Dr.leonard Kiriella. The fellow wa dumbfounded when I inquired from him about Dr.Kiriella. Tissa Attanayake is a parrot. Talks talks no meaning. A bunch of clowns.

  10. ranjit Says:

Scrap the 13th amendment without any argument. Majority of our population is against it so why we keep it. India is not our friend yesterday today or tomorrow simple as that. The bully of Asia never learn any lessons. We saw how they tackle the terrorists for three days in Mubai. What they are doing in Kashmir cannot hide easily. USA,INDIA and the west are all in the same boat so it’s not a surprise India siding with SATAN.

Team of traitors,The stupids, Jokers 3 in 1 starting from Ranil, Tissa,Kiriella ( perera) Somawansa, Lal kantha,Sajit, Karu (CO-OP thief) Karu jayasuriya, Dayasiri (singing star), Jayalath, wickremebahu,Tilvin etc They were beaten by an innings in every election because of their vulger mouths and stupid talks. They were a bunch of jokers not a opposition party like in any other democratic country. They are against everything, they never thought Prabakara will go to hell or our heros can win the war. These stupid bunch will shout slogans according to their pay from their masters in the west. No love for the country they were born or to it’s peoples. They bark like dogs to satsfy white man in the west.

Our President and some of his clowns must stop calling India our relative or Loku Aiya and so on. We dont want loku Aiyas like this shit Indians. We are Sinhalese not mixed. We have a proud civilization and culture and my homeland belongs to us Sinhalese not to share with others except our own Srilankans who was born to my country whether Tamils,Muslims,Burger or Malays. We should get a better treatment than any of them. The whole country belongs to all Sri Lankans no one can seperate areas calling this Tamil or Muslim areas. We want to live as one under one lion flag.If someone try to seperate it then we have to fight to the end. Traitors to my Motherland should be punished without any argument that’s my view. First the Govt must please us not 25% of population by giving everything where no other country does. When the Govt have two third majority they can do wonders without bow down to anyone.

The President and his brothers must get together as a team and clean up the whole set up. Get rid of corruption, Drugs, Underworld, Money laundering,Prostitution, and give the police a free hand to catch the offenders without any interference from the politicians. We have faith in you Sirs and I think majority has but this will erode if you dont do your job properly. We need safe environment to live in peace. You have won the war for us now you get rid of traitors to the land for people to enjoy the freedom you gave us. Openning Temples and doing Bodhi pujas are not enough unless our society dont behave properly. We should have tough laws to tackle terrorism, murders, roberries, rapes etc If you get rid of bad guys in the society including politicians how much powerful they are atleast we can say we have won the real freedom. Our wonderland becomes ugly because of the politicians on both sides. They shit on it for money and power.
