A recent news item questions the validity of fading Indian politico M.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Karunanidhi’s legitimacy to some of his pro Eelam comments which he never relents about or gives up despite their glaring illegalities. The double standard adopted by the Indian Authorities in tolerating Karunanidhi’s comments while in the same breath asking respect for Sri Lanka’s Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity which Karunanidhi doesn’t give aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ hoot about, apathy notwithstanding, seems somewhat of a joke where India would in all probabilities and for the sake of Indian integrity be better advised to muffle the joker Karunanidhi isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who does not seem to understand the basic principle about why Eelam was crushed in its entirety in Sri Lanka and continues to babble on about his futuristic dream of Eelam which by rights should have him thrown in the slammer for sedition and incitement and interference into the internal matters of a Sovereign NationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ !!

One hardly needs to reflect upon the where’s and whysƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ about injecting life into the defunct Tamil EelamƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ concept through some hairbrained supportive organization calling itself Tamil Eelam SupportersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ Organisation. Karunanidhi has recently charged the Sri Lankan army with running a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-state of EmergencyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in Tamil areas. A definition devised by himself and far removed from why the presence of the Army is needed in the areas refered to which he should investigate towards educating himself relative to reality as the need is a felt one.

He hasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ also saidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that a long-term solution to the Tamils issue has to be a political one. where he seems to have forgotten the relativities of percentages and its ludicrousness with respect to Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  where a miniscule and already dwindling minority seems to be demanding autonomy within a Sovereign Nation in a bold attempt to subjugate a vast majorityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where all citizensƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have had ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ equal rights over the years and more so relative to displaced Tamils ( some obviously needing rehabilitation)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ after the Eelam insurgency put down by the present Administration while Karunanidhi babbles onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in dementia.

The so called “plight of Sri Lankan Tamils said to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ linkedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to human rights and dignity,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  requiring short-term, medium-term and long-term solutions seems ill conceived and at times fictional where a majority of Sri lankan Tamils seem to be quite content with their lot and willing to go along with the rest of Sri Lanka’s citizens and lead unimpeded lives with their digbities and freedoms restored and the Karunanidhi rhetoric seemingly rabble rousing rhetoric.whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mr. Karunanidhi has dared to utter with impunityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to a conclave ahead of the pro-Eelam international TESO meet called by him. A meet which by rights should have been banned by the authorities for the simple reason that there are no legalities involved with Tamil Ealam which is simply another name for the now defunct LTTE and outlawed globally but perhaps the importance for India to palaver to Tamil Nadu which obviously has direct links to the Karunanidhi Syndrome proclaiming the right to Eelam where their track record of being supportive and providingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a nurturing ground for the LTTE which cannot be swept under the carpetƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ having very obviousƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ motivations which must really be a cause for embarrassment to India whether inadvertently or not as the truth seems to stick out like a sore thumb. Karunanidhi seems to be endorsing this.

Indeed as quoted from the news item reporting Karunanidhi’s pro Eelam activities, itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ signifies the separate nationhood concept from Sri Lanka, the core of armed struggle by the now decimated LTTE, which is not in line with IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s stand on the issue. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The nations of the world are very much worried over the pre- and post-war developments in Sri Lanka. The problem with Eelam Tamils is a problem linked with humanitarianism, human rights and dignity of human beings,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ whereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has quoted at a conclave of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Eelam Tamil Livelihood Rights Protection Conference.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ But the fact of the matter being Tamil Eelam signifying LTTE terrorism which once bore the core responsibilities towards violating humanitarianism, the violation of human rights and human dignity which Karunanidhi has blatantly decided to finger point about at the Sri Lankan Administration where a greater proportion of Sri Lankan citizens were subjected to the veryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ indignities and grievances named in his litany at the hands of the LTTE and consequently he should either be educated about the relativities linked to the truth or forcibly stifled as he is causing unnecessary concerns and raising alarms about a non existent situation in Sri Lanka sending all the wrong signals to the world.

Hence it needs to be emphatically specifiedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in deference to the Karunanidhi rhetoric that it is misleading to suggest that “ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Sri Lankan military runs a state of Emergency in Tamil areas andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ also distressingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that intimidation in the routine life of Tamils has increased after the recent (US-backed) resolution in Geneva (in the UN Human Rights Council) asking Colombo to promote post-war reconciliation,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ which appers to be the fodder used towards justification where what transpires in these areasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as directed by the Law enforcement agencies are to the contrary and actions of necessity towards keeping the peace in a turbulence instigated by the adversaries of the incumbent administration and becoming more and more of a painful reality and appear to be either totally misconstrued by the Karunanidhi bandwagon or deliberately done to strengthen their cause which by the same token is illegal!. He needs to be informed that to a greater part the problems for Tamils in post insurgent Sri Lanka have indeed ceased or have beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ alleviatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where the Government has prioritised the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ re-settlement and rehabilitation of internally displaced Tamils, reconstructed infrastructural and civic facilities and restoredƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Right to Property, Education and Employment.

It might also be saidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that the long-term solution which is one of integrating these persons and assimilating them into mainstream Sri Lankan society is the greater need currently being pursued by the Administration where the necessary transformations as is always the case given the circumstances perhaps a bit slow and probably needs speeding up.

It seems a mere token gesture however that on the part of the Indian Authorities albeit a welcome one that The Ministry of External Affairs asked the organisers and Mr.KarunanidhiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to ensure that this pro EelamƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ meetƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  which is what its all about does not issue any declaration or outcome calling into question the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of any foreign country with whom India has diplomatic relations but falls short odf saying what the consequences might be if they were violated!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And all in all it seems aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ daring caper byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a fading politician andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a glaring Faux Pas by the Indian authorities where both actionsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ support Eelam by tolerating this type of inflammatory statement where implicationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and responses are perhaps veiledƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which to Sri Lanka and The World nonethelessƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ merely signifies terrorism.
