Royal College Inter-Batch Cricket Carnival 2012

The annual Royal College, inter-batch, six- a- side, Cricket Carnvial is due to be held on the 14th of October 2012 at the CCC grounds, Colombo commencing at 9 AM.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Organised by the Group of 2001, Royal College, the 12th edition of this Carnival has rapidly evolved to take pride of place in the Royal old boyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s calendar, when camraderie and merriment conjugate for a worthy cause.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Royal College Group of 2001 believes that there is tremendous potential to develop sports at Royal College. Therefore the CarnivalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s prime obejctive is to raise funds to support college development activities, particularly in the sports arena.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As Such, each year, the Carnvial Committee picks one sport most needing development at that time and diverts funds to it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The development of sports will lead to College producing better sportsmen, which will subsequently help to develop exceptional talents in the hope that one day they will represent Sri Lanka at the highest level, bringing glory to the country

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In addition to the cricket, a Carnival atmosphere will be created with ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ live music, food stalls, kids play areas, DJ entertainmnet, papare bands and surpises, providing entertainment for both young and old Royalists and there families.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Past Royalists playing in the 20 ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 30 age group will vie for the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”L D H Peiris Challenge Trophy,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ whilst those fielding teams in the 30 ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 40 age group will battle it out for the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Viji Weerasinghe Memorial TrophyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ and those in the 40+ age groups will take to the field in pursuit of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”E C Gunasekara Memorial Trophy.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The success of the Carnival over the past 11 years has empowered it to evolve into one of the most anticipated and awaited gatherings of Old Royalists in Sri Lanka. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ With over 30 old boy groups registered to participate and an audience of well over 1000, the Royal College Inter-Batch Cricket Carnival 2012, organised by the Royal College Group of 2001 promises an entertaining and lively day out for all ages.
