Hi, John,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

My apologies for the delay in thanking you for your e-mail and good wishes. As you know, we were in Sri Lanka practically the whole month of October.and are back andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are slowly getting over the jet lag.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ John, we had a great time in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We took the opportunity to go to Jaffna withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ some Australians and Canadians of Sri Lankan origin. That was our very first trip toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the North.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We travelled to Jaffna from Colombo, via Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna Districts.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  John, we went on this trip with an open mind (didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have our blinkers on).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We all met and spoke to the people in the areas we travelled and found that the western media, Non-Governmental Agencies (NGOs), Amnesty International (AI) and other anti-Sri Lanka forces, have been (and still are) presentingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an entirely different picture of the current situation in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So, hereƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s what we heard andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  observed, John.

We traveled to Mullaitivu via Vavuniya and it took us a long time to reach Mullaitivu, as the Tamil Tigers had blown up the bridges and culverts as they were retreating from the west coast to the east coast holding civilians as shields. We are all aware that nearly 300,000 of these people managed to escape from the clutches of the Tigers to the Sri Lanka Government controlled areas. I wonder how many other innocent men, women and children, who could not escape, would have perished because of the brutalities of the terrorists. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I was really shocked to see the devastation of the beautiful landscape.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  My heart sank when I saw the bombed out houses, cars, buses and motor cycles. The innocent people had left practically everything as they were herded to the east coast by that maniac, PrabhakaranƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and his band of terrorists.

In Mullaitivu District, we were taken to PrabhakaranƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s house and bunker (4 levels underground) with meeting rooms, etc (probably fully air conditioned then)., and an escape route (a tunnel) with a steel door at the entrance to the tunnel.

John, as you know, Prabhakaran was not a wealthy man and he would not have been able to buildƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that massive bunker without the monetary help from the Tamil Tiger supporters and outfits abroad, such as NGOs and other western interests. You know as much as I do, over 2 million CanadianƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ dollarsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were siphoned each month to the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka by the Canadian Tamil Tiger front Organizations until they were proscribed by the Conservative Government in 2006. No doubt, Asoka Weerasinghe willƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ be able to give you the actual amount asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he seems to have all the facts and figures on this issue at his finger tips.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Coming back to my trip, in the compound of the Tiger leaderƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s house, there was a man-made hill, with a cut-out of a man (target) at the top of the mound, which we were told was PrabhakaranƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s shooting ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-galleryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚…killing fields of Prabhakaran! That was how the Tiger leader had spent and enjoyed his free time.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Just a few metres from the Tiger leaderƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s house there was a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-shedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ enclosed with iron grills and gate. The iron grills depicted the map of Eelam.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We were told that Prabhakaran never attended the funerals of the heads of the Tiger brigades. The bodies of the leaders were brought to that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-shedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ on a plank so that he can pay his last respects. REASON: He thought that bombs might be hidden in the casket which might be detonated remotely… he didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t trust anyone and didn’t want to take any chances of being blown to pieces ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t mind doing that to others!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We sawƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the place where Prabhakaran met his fate…in the Nandikadal Bay. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

We were also taken to Thamil ChelvamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s house and bunker, the burnt-out ship that was hijacked by the Tigers and bombed by the Sri Lankan Forces, the skeleton of the submarine, which the Tigers were building from the steel taken from the ship, SoosaiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s house and bunker and the swimming pool which was used to train Soosai’s Sea Tigers. John, think for yourself, from where on earth did the Tamil Tigers get the money to buy heavy machinery, material and expertise toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ build such massive structures?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Yes, they had the discreet support of NGOs, western nations and the Tamil Tiger supporters abroad.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

We were also shown the Kilinochchi water tank which was blown up by the Tigers, as they were retreating to the east coast with the human shield. WhatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  devastation wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  done by the Tigers to a sovereignƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ nation and herƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ people.

On the way, we saw the rail tracks completely destroyed by the Tiger Terrorists being rebuilt by the Government of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Presently, the train tracks have been rebuilt up to Omanthai.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Jaffna Railway Station, which was a majestic building built during the colonial period, was in ruins. Who is responsible for these atrocities, John?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Yes, the Tamil Tigers!

We were also taken to Point Pedro, Velvetiturai, Kayts, Nagadeepa and Delft Islands.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  I wonder if you have had the opportunity to visit these places in your travels to Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If you haven’t been I would suggest that you visit these places on your next visit to Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

We spoke to a number of people in Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna Districts and they were very happy that the 30-year war was over.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Simply put, these men, women and children can go to sleep peacefullyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ at nightƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and wake up in the morning in one piece. No one complained of being harassed by government officials or soldiers. They allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ said that they were free to do anything…in other words, they are all enjoying peace. They have the freedom to move about without any fear of bombs exploding in the market place and the school children wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ going ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ about in the streets without any fear of being abducted by anyone ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ..gone are the days of the Tamil Tigers baby brigade.

Business is booming in Jaffna, new buildings are coming up and there are plans for new hotels to be built in the revitalized city of Jaffna.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Government of Sri Lanka is widening and rebuilding main roads in all Districts in the North. Construction is going on at full speed (day and night).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  People are growing vegetables, yams, etc., in their lands. The paddy fields are lush green and they are expecting a good harvest this year.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Like in Colombo, everything is available and people seem to have money.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

In Jaffna, Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people work together in the hospitality industry.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In the hotel we stayed, which was owned by a Tamil family, there were people of all races employed there. The Tamil people spoke Sinhala and the Muslim and Sinhalese people spoke Tamil. They are getting along extremely well with one another. ThereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is absolutely no animosity, as portrayed by the western nations, NGOs and AI. In short, they are all living together peacefully.

Most of the businesses in the Districts in the North are owned by Tamil residents. We came across some Sinhala and Tamil people running boutiques in tourists areas and theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ get along very well with each other. So what we read about in the western media is not true. The NGOs and AI, which are mainly supported by Tamil dissidents abroad and western nations, are spreading wrong information to the gullible people.

The people in the former Tamil Tiger held areas are all very happy that the war is over and now they can go on with their lives without any fear…most of all, no more bombs exploding in the town or kids disappearing on their way to school.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In short there is peace at last in the North.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

John,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ do you know that LTTE front organizations around the world use their booty to buy overƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ organizations thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are ever-willing to accept money forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their gain?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Prime example would be Amnesty International Canada…your outfitƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ accepted $50,000 last year from aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ LTTE front ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ organization in Toronto.

John, do you know that Tamil civilians in the western worldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are coerced into telling lies over electronic media and attendƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ all events that are being organized by the LTTE front organizationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for fear of their lives?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

John, why don’t you take steps to get AI to help Sri Lanka with the development projects that are going on nowƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for the betterment of the country and people rather than spreading lies!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That would be a good start for a change.

Have a super week-end. Enjoy the great Fall weather. Pls keep in touch.

  1. Kit Athul Says:

Rohan, thank you for exposing John Argue of Amnesty International, of CANADA! What you have done is remarkable job of being an investigative Journalist. Then publishing the findings on LankaWeb. Kithsiri, Florida, USA

  2. Dham Says:

The Government should investigate and persecute all Norwegians who were paedophiles, including Eric Sellheim.
These buggers loved Sri lanka because they were offered a girl every time they visited North.

  3. LankaLover Says:

Similar to others, Amnesty International -the HR Prostitute was able to operate under the radar disguising as a genuine human right institute for a long time.

Like the “Kottoruwa who got tangled itself up on plucking the banana plant” they finally meeting their Waterloo trying to hit Sri Lanka, and being totally exposed their racket.

I do not think that they ever thought that they would be hit back by Sri Lanka exposing them all the way through of their HR prostitution.

Now when you make web search about Amnesty International, you get lot of articles that have exposed them – mainly of Sri Lanka origin. Their bogus credibility is being hard hit by patriotic Sri Lankans. That’s a great service to the mankind that the Sri Lankans have done.

Keep going guys… let them starve off their last breath.
