“Karunanidhi hopeful of UN intervening in Tamils issueâ€ÂÂÂ
Posted on November 20th, 2012

Karunanidhi is reported to have said (Hindu, November 20) that he was hopeful that the UN would intervene in the Tamil issue. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Why not?ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ many would say: after all he is theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ leader of the DMK, a political party in Tami Nadu, which is home to over 70 million Tamils. The absurdity of the story is that he is referring to Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Tamils, who are citizens of a completely different and independent state.
Karunanidhi has made it clear that India voted against Sri Lanka at the Human Rights Council sessions (in May 2012) at the insistence of DMK. Sri Lankans used to believe that India would be on its side when it came to resolutions at international forums. Sadly, that was not the case, and India was ready to throw a SAARC member to the (American and European) wolves.
The statements by the British Tamil Forum that Karunanidhi is ready to present as gospel truth are not worth the paper on which they are written (or the laptop from which they emanate): the more the anti-Sri Lankan Tamil groups talk of genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan government and its armed forces, the better the chances for them to get the gullible Western countries to give asylum to illegal Tamil immigrants. And, it is the so-called refugees who enriched the LTTE coffers to the tune of $300 million annually (JaneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Defense Weekly)!
Karunanidhi should instead worry about Tamils in Tamil Nadu: the life expectancy at birth in Tamil Nadu is 66.2 years, and the former Chief Minister does not have much time, going by probabilities, to do something for his own in Tamil Nadu.

So this is the whole point of UN REGRETTING and having UNCONTROLLABLE LEAKS of its FAILURE to protect Tamils. Now they say to COMPENSATE for it, they will intervene to hold a Tamil Elam referendum in SL.
Remember toilet nadu Karunanidhi wrote to the UN 2 months ago begging to INTERVENE in SL?
The LEAK happened AFTER that.
UN is CREATING an excuse to intervene in SL.
Now it all makes sense.
1. Tamil Madu Karunanidi begs UN to INTERVENE in SL to hold a Tamil Elam referendum.
2. UN can’t just do so.
3. UN has to have a BS excuse to intervene now.
4. No war. So no chance of intervenetion.
5. So UN creates an excuse – UN failed SL in 2009. Now UN has to COMPENSATE for that by intervening now.
6. UN and its big jokers will now create further excuses to somehow impose a referendum among Tamils (either in SL, north-east people or all the Tamils) asking if they want Tamil Elam.
7. OK, I know UN can’t do that. BUT using deceptive tactics (as usual), fooling SL politicians, using LLRC/UNHRC/13, etc. they will push this.
8. New colonial rule THROUGH the UN.
What is the solution?
Convince UN that ANY intervention will lead to LARGE SCALE bloodshed against the VERY targets they try to protect.
SCRAP 13 amendment NOW. Militarise the north.

Why can’t this guy engage himself in putting up some public toilets in Tamil Nadu? Poor people have no place to go, so they end up releasing their body waste by the side of the roads, under trees, in public bus and railway stations….
People of Tamil Nadu should chase these cunning politicians out of their state. Ordinary Tamils do not want an Ealam to live… it is these so called leaders including our TNA guys need an Ealam. Tamil community will live in peace only when these old defunct politicians die.

“The Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine has requested the Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G. L. Peries to condemn Israel’s assault on Gaza.
In a letter sent to the minister, the committee highlights Sri Lanka’s strong friendship with Palestine for so long and requests the Minister to condemn Israel’s assault on Gaza.
In 1975 Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine was formed and within a short period of time it was able to cover the whole island. After three and half decades of active and dedicated Palestine Solidarity work the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine became a fully blossomed movement that is known and respected all over the Arab world.”

This is a WRONG move. Israel helped SL fight LTTE. SL must stand by Israel.
What has the Palestinians done for SL other than sharing suicide vests with LTTE.

Address the Root Cause of the Tamil Problem : That is the Tamil Caste Problem resulting in Navi Pillai’s “Institutionalised Discrimination” and Poverty issues. Where do Tamil Caste problems begin ? In K’naidhi’s TAMIL NADU, the Tamil peoples’ Homeland.
Address the issues in Tamil Nadu, and the UN would have solved the Tamil Problem forever.
The UN should help Tamil Nadu have a modern sanitary system. Also the UN should help TN create a “Caste Free Zone” in Tamil Nadu itself.
Oppressing Sri Lanka via the UN will never work to solve the Root Cause of the Tamil Problem which is born & nurtured in Tamil Nadu. Every child born in Tamil Nadu is branded into the Tamil Caste system. This does not happen in Sri Lanka, except in Tamil only pockets such as Jaffna & Upcountry where Tamil people have a ‘self imposed Caste mindset’. That is why it is important that Tamil only areas in Sri Lanka are made multi-ethnic, so that Caste matters are automatically dissolved as in other multi ethnic democracies elsewhere.

It is time Tamil Nadu break away from India. With 70 million and 95% of worlds Tamil population, Tamils need a homeland. One and only Tamil Nadu is the answer. Karunanidhi, as the leader of Of Indian Tamils should lead this cause. I am waiting with bated breath….
Just think of it, Tamil is not even a National Language in India. The neighboring country Sri Lanka, with less than One million Sri Lankan Tamils, is respecting Tamil as a National language. What a great, egalitarian, secular and inclusive society has Sri Lanka proved to be. Well done Sri Lanka!

Sri Lanka’s first communication satellite ready to be launched tomorrow
“Wed, Nov 21, 2012, 10:57 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
Nov 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s first ever geostationary communication satellite will ceremonially be launched Thursday at 3:43 pm Sri Lanka time from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China.
The satellite would be positioned above the country in the Geo-Stationary orbit at 87.5 degrees East about 36,000 km above the surface of the earth in just seven minutes after its launch.
The satellite partly owned by SupremeSAT will be operational for commercial purposes in the region by early June 2013.
The US$320 million Sri Lankan satellite, based on DFH-4 (DongFangHong-4) satellite platform, was manufactured by China’s State-owned China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC). The satellite has a design life of 15 years.
SupremeSAT has entered into an exclusive partnership agreement with CGWIC for the design, manufacturing and launching of the satellite.
The company will launch SupremeSAT-II in 2013 and another fully-owned satellite by December 2015.”
EXCELLENT!
Way to go SL. This is a historic moment.

Here’s related topic : A new Law from the UN, re Human Rights & Birth Control :
“U.N. declares birth control a universal human right
BIRTH CONTROL NOVEMBER 16, 2012 BY EMILY SUTHERLIN
Access to birth control is a universal human right that could significantly improve the lives of women and children in poor countries, according to the United Nations Population Fund’s annual report, released Wednesday.
It’s the first time the report has clearly described family planning as a human right, and it said that legal, cultural and financial barriers to birth control and other family planning measures are infringements of women’s rights, the Associated Press reported.
Increasing funding for family planning by $4.1 billion could save $11.3 billion a year in health costs for mothers and newborns in poor nations, the document said. The U.N. does not consider abortion a family planning measure.
While access to birth control has recently been a hotly debated topic in the United States, the report focuses mostly on developing countries and the need for contraception in the world’s poorest countries.
The report reads:
“Recent statistics show that 867 million women of childbearing age in developing countries have a need for modern contraceptives. Of that total, 645 million have access to them. But a staggering 222 million still do not. This is inexcusable. Family planning is a human right. It must therefore be available to all who want it. But clearly this right has not yet been extended to all, especially in the poorest countries.”
Meeting contraception needs would not only reduce health care costs but allow “young women to truly plan for work, school and childbearing on their terms,” said Richard Kollege, author of the UNFPA report. These seemingly simple accomplishments allow women to make greater contributions to the economy and drive development.
“Increased access to family planning has proven to be a sound economic investment,” the UN agency said in a press release. ”The costs of ignoring the right of family planning include poverty, exclusion, poor health and gender inequality.”

Aravinda, agreed. Sri Lanka should be proud of the level of recognition given to Tamil language and culture at the national level. It proves we are a plural nation. There is no need for separation or mono cultural enclaves on the island.
Our “sole-relatives” in New Delhi, on the other hand, do not recognize Tamil language and culture as on par with Hindi and its related dialects (Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, etc). They discriminate against South Indians (whom curiously, many Sinhalese recognise no relationship whatsoever). At the same time, New Delhi sees fit to ceaselessly lecture the Sinhalese on how bad they are and how they must allow a mono-cultural Tamil homeland on the island. Moreover our “sole relatives” stabbed us in the back by spending billions of rupees training LTTE and other anti-Sri Lanka terrorists on their soil. What kind of “sole-relatives” do that to their closest relatives? The Sinhala people have still not received an apology, let alone a draconian crackdown on Karunanidhi and his hate mongers. Also, our modeyas still haven’t received official recognition of the Sinhalese as “sole-relatives” of the Dahl dropping crowd. (You will be waiting a long time modeyas!)
Time for Sri Lanka to recognize the right of Tamil Nadu as a totally independent nation. We must, of course, draw the line at sponsoring terrorism in the rest of India. We don’t follow barbaric methods like our “sole relatives”. Our methods are peaceful. If independent Tamil Nadu chooses to waste money by declaring war on us, rather than build toilets, hospitals and schools for their own people, we will be forced to ally with other friend and relative nations to defeat the invaders. New Delhi will be just another anochronism from the days of the British Raj.

“It is time Tamil Nadu break away from India. With 70 million and 95% of worlds Tamil population, Tamils need a homeland.”
Fully agree. SL should help them do it and SCRAP 13 amendment.
When Tamil Madu is an independent nation, SL Tamils can go there IF they want Tamil as an official/national language. Just 30 km away.
That should also teach India a lesson. Thereafter India will team up with SL to disturb Tamil Madu. We will agree to it confitionally – if TN takes ALL Tamil illegal immigrants in SL, we agree to let them be.
International community will NOT support Tamil Elam any further as Tamils will have their own nation. International community hates a nation becoming too powerful. So the Tamil Nadu nation will be what it is. Nothing more.

Fran Diaz:
Availability of the birth control option is a basic human right. Now the UN has accepted that and as a UN member, Sri Lanka automattically obliges to follow this policy.
However, it does not entail Sri Lanka to blindly follow or encourage birth control across its population.
Population growth rates are uneven among various ethnic groups. Ethnic groups with higher population growth rates must be provided with more facilities and incentives to birth control than others. Over 96% of security forces are ethnic Sinhalese. In other words, national security rests with a sustainable Sinhalese population growth which must be maintained, if not encouraged. Birth control practices on ground must take into account these realities and national needs.
Controlling illegal immigrant into the island is another vital approach to population control.

Dilrook,
Thanks for your response.
It is the AVAILABILITY of birth control material, without hindrances, to women that has become a Human Rights issue. Our Orphanages are full of unwanted children. What becomes of these children ? Where is the accountability ?
If women have easy access to birth control material, at least there will be less unwanted pregnancies resulting in unwanted children.
The objective for Sri Lankan women should be to make every child a wanted child. NO unwanted pregnancies.
I personally know of a case where a young woman started producing babies to ‘sell’ them off to foreign couples. She made one lakh off one sale, in the early 1980s.
Most of the overpopulated S.E. Asian Buddhist countries fell to rule under communist governments through sheer need, resulting in millions being killed there in the Cold War times, with loss of Buddhism too.

P.S. : I do agree wholeheartedly that there should be NO ILLEGAL MIGRANTS in Sri Lanka. All methods of Illegal Migration into Lanka should be sealed up forever.
I think the illegal migrants into Australia from Sri Lanka are really illegal migrants who have come into Lanka.
The other concern of the day is illicit Drugs & Narcotics.

Lorenzo,
Yes, in the later phases of the 30 year Eelam war, Israel assisted Sri Lanka with Military Equipment, when our traditional Western Allies, to our great disappointment, did not. Let me note here that Sri Lanka had helped Israel at its birth, voting at the UN in favor of the establishment of Israel in 1948. Sr Lanka’s representative to the UN, J. R. Jayawardene, gave an impassioned speech in support of the creation of Israel.
However, there have been times when Israel assisted Tamil Terrorists. For example, in the early years, Israel is reputed to provided military training to Tamil Tiger terrorists. Also, after May 18, 2009, when Israel was under attack from UN and Western critics, Israel pointed to Sri Lanka and demanded that Sri Lanka be PENALIZED as well.
Clearly, Sri Lanka’s interests will not coincide with those of ANY OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRY in ALL AREAS at ALL TIMES !
This experience is CONSISTENT with a concept that is DRUMMED-INTO people’s heads in National Security Training Sessions: Countries ONLY have Permanent NATIONAL INTERESTS, NOT Permanent FRIENDSHIPS.
Nevertheless, on-the-whole, Israel has been a good friend to Sri Lanka. We must remember that in the future, as Sri Lanka fights its own battle for survival in the midst of the Arab-Israeli minefield. We have good friends on both sides of that conflict. Sri Lanka should try to use those connections to bring peace to both parties.
On a related topic, we have detected many Jewish Zealots commenting on Sri Lankan blogs advocating common remedies for both Israel and Sri Lanka. Are these Jewish Zealots employees of the Israeli National Propaganda Organization identified in the following article?

Israel’s social media war run by 26-year-old
By Claudine Zap

Lieutenant Sacha Dratwa (photo)
(Facebook)Social media have become tools for popular movements like the Occupy Wall Street protest and the Arab spring. But Israel may be the first country to launch a propaganda war using Facebook and Twitter.
And the lieutenant running this virtual smackdown is a 26-year-old snowboarder named Sacha Dratwa, a Belgian immigrant who leads a team of social media soldiers.
According to Tablet magazine, for the past two years Dratwa has been in charge of the Israeli Defense Forces’ “YouTube and Facebook presence and turned it into the most globally visible arm of the Israeli military.”
Facebook, the magazine reports, only became available to Israel around 2008-2009, and it was considered a kids’ toy. (Remember those days?)
But that was then. Now, Dratwa tells Tablet, “We believe people understand the language of Facebook, the language of Twitter.” His team tweeted, for example, about an Israeli girl injured by a Hamas rocket, after a photo of a baby killed by an Israeli missile was posted on Twitter. The IDF commissioned a Foursquare-style game for frequent visitors to its blog, and it posts YouTube videos of drone strikes and assassinations.
Want to know more about Dratwa? Just head over to his mostly public Facebook profile. As Gizmodo points out, the guy running the cyberwar is also just a guy, doing “guy stuff” like drinking with his buddies, hitting the slopes and “commanding a cyber propaganda squad.”

Secure the Country from Within, that is the only way.
To this end, Womens’ Rights (which I personally think is all important, as it is obviously women who produce, nurture and care for children, the future citizens of Lanka), must be upheld. Apart from easy ACCESS to BIRTH CONTROL MATERIAL here is another problem highlighted by MP Rosy Senanayake.
MP Rosy Senanayake ought to join the Government as its Minister for Womens’ Affairs. Do please read the article below and see what is happening to children from poor backgrounds, or are orphaned. Recently a member of the Prov. Councils (govt) stated that prostitution should be legalised to boost Tourism in Sri Lanka ! Women are not pieces of flesh to bought and sold, neither are children.
Where are our religious bodies ? What are they doing to advice the public on these matters ?
* Sri Lanka opposition MP calls for a female women’s affairs minister
Fri, Nov 23, 2012, 10:58 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
Nov 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Rosy Senanayake has called for the appointment of a female legislator as the minister in-charge of women and children’s affairs.
She has made this statement in parliament during the debate on the budgetary allocations for the Women’s Affairs and Child Development Ministry.
She has explained that there was nothing personal behind her statement and it was made due to the fact that a woman would be most suitable to hold such an office.
The plight of the women in the country according to surveys that have been carried out is dismal, Senanayake noted in the House.
She has pointed out that the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and International Labor Organization (ILO) have revealed there are 40,000 child prostitutes in the country.
The same studies have also revealed that there are 85,000 war widows in the country as well and that women now head 23% of the household units in the count
November 25th, 2012 at 1:57 pm
Are MP Rosy Senanayake’s figures re 40,000 child prostitutes in the country correct ? Can someone who knows the figures let us know.
