Why It Is Absurd to Say Muslim Countries Voted for Sri Lanka

Nations donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t vote on international matters based on religion! It is an absurd claim that Muslim countries voted against the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka. Only those countries that are either currently victimized by the UNHRC and other US controlled UN bodies or that are likely to be victimized voted against the intrusive US resolution. Islam was totally irrelevant except that almost all Muslim countries have a dubious human rights record.
The countries that opposed the hypocritical US resolution against Sri Lanka are: Congo, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kuwait, Maldives, Mauritania, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand, UAE, Uganda and Venezuela.
Of these the Muslim countries are Indonesia, Kuwait, Maldives, Mauritania, Pakistan, Qatar and UAE (7 of them). Islamic Libya voted for the US resolution against Sri Lanka.
Christian countries are Congo, Ecuador, Philippines, Uganda and Venezuela (5 of them).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Therefore it is obvious there is no religious affiliation in UNHRC voting.
The factor that binds all of them is they all are in the bad books of USA and its satellite UNHRC. Maldives, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t follow the western democratic system which the west considers holy. Congo, Venezuela, Uganda, Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand are blamed for human rights violations as some of them are fighting wars against terrorist groups.
It is UNHRC victimization that has unified all the progressive countries that voted against the US sponsored resolution. 13 EU and EU aspirant member countries vote as a block. This tilted the outcome of the UNHRC resolution. It is time Asian and African countries also vote as a block in future UNHRC resolutions against any of them. They must unify against the west as one front to defend their interests irrespective of petty religious and linguistic divisions that are insignificant in the 21st century.

Philippines has been an ally and very staunch supporter of SL with this UNHRC resolutions episode. Philippines is predominately christian and a US supporter but parted and voted against this unjust matter. SL must review its ties not only with India, Korea and Japan but also the US, especially!

And Indonesia is not a typical Muslim country, unlike the Arab countries, 75 odd percent of their population are Muslim in name because of their families. Others are Animist eg in West Papua, Lombok etc, Malay- Hindus in Bali, Christians in parts of Kalimantan, Sulawesi etc and Confucian and Buddhists everywhere. Indonesian Muslims give much more freedom of religion to non Muslims and their national thinking is based on panchaseela which is derived from their original Buddhist / Animist religions. How gullible some of our Sri Lankans are to believe they are the same as Arabs. Surprising ignorance, considering some of our SL Muslims originate from there. Please strike them off the Muslim list also.
This UNHCR vote had nothing to do with religion.

Saudi voted against us! So did many other Muslim countries.
