Your Excellency Mahinda RajapaksaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
President of Sri Lanka
Presidential SecretariatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Colombo 1, Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Your Excellency:

Most of us expatriates in all the continents are watching and cringing at the pressures and bullying that Sri Lanka, you and your government have been put through after the passing of the US sponsored resolution in Geneva.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It would be foolish for us not to admit that we are now in a crisis mode even though you may feel sure that you will weather the situation and come on top.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Most of us who are really concerned of our Motherland have stood tall for Sri Lanka against the bludgeoning and lies by the Tamil Diaspora and their supporting NGOs and foreign nations who have decided to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign Sri Lanka.

It is a fact and it would be told so to you by the Ambassadors and High Commissioners if they are honest enough, that these expatriate activists form the second tier of the unpaid Missions abroad and have walked into situations that paid diplomats fear to tread, waiting for advisories from the Foreign Ministry and due to diplomatic protocols.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And this has been so for the past 30 years.

When you are in the mode of pulling all stops to safeguard the good name of Sri Lanka and go forward in the rebuilding and reconciliation in the island, I believe the time has arrived for you to acknowledge these expatriates and use them as an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Expatriate Think TankƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ as sometimes they would know best than the Ambassadors and High Commissioners who pass through foreign countries every third year.

So my humble suggestion is that you have now arrived at the juncture when you need to feel the pulse of the countries through the Sri Lankans who are domiciled in and plot your strategies accordingly.

In my opinion you ought to select/appoint a member from the expatriate community from each continent to an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Expatriate Think TankƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ and your consulting and listening to them will not be in vain, as these are honest patriots who have an immense love for their Motherland and are aware of the political anti-Sri Lanka culture of the countries that they live in.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  You may want to meet the group personally or through conference calls.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But you must.

I propose the following and they are my personal choice : Ms. Ira de Silva (Canada); H.L.D. Mahindapala (Australia); Douglas Wickremaratne (UK); US (Ambassador in Washington or the Permanent UN Representative should be able to recommend someone); Middle East (Ambassadors in countries in the Middle East should be able to recommend one).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And into the mix a Sri Lankan should be added to the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Expatriate Think TankƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  I recommend Ms. Shenali Waduge who is a gem among you all in Colombo who has an amazing vision for Sri Lanka as well as is an amazing Crystal Ball reader.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Believe me, Your Excellency, at this juncture Sri Lanka cannot afford to let her go unnoticed.

I thank you immensely for your courtesy to read this short request from an expatriate and considering its viability.

Very sincerely yours,

Asoka Weerasinghe (Mr.)

    I AGREE!

At the same time I prefer to see YOUNGER SLs MORE instead of older gentlemen, a few GOOD Tamils and Muslims too (not the demanding type or Tamil Homeland believers).

  2. Voice123 Says:

I second Lorenzo on that point.

  3. Leela Says:

    I fully gree with Lorenzo.

  4. thirdeye Says:

we must speak to a person who is ready to listen to the others. a true leader does not get threaten by the comments form others. a true leader should take in to account of all the comments made by others and act wisely. he should not be self centered and ignorant or selfish. by looking at the past activities i suspect that whether he can be considered as a true leader.

  5. Lorenzo Says:

    Thanks Voice and Leela.

Hope this will GO AHEAD BULLDOZING all the naysayers and their traitor clans. If this goes ahead we will see a VISIBLE change in the way the govt. works.

We should all thank LANKAWEB people for helping these gems come out from the cesspit of SL journalism controlled by Duminda Silva, RUN-NIL, his brother, Mahajaraa, pawn brokers, etc.

  6. cw Says:

Thanks Asoka for the suggestion. I agree.
    An old Nalandian

  7. Voice123 Says:

I think a mix of younger and older is good.

  8. Senevirath Says:

Be careful . After Mahinda killed prabhakaran so many new fake patriots have come to the vicinity.

One person a wickramabahu follower after reading my book JATHIYA PAVAADEEMA asked me for my solution to terrorism . -I simply said -“‘-ERADICATION””
He accused me as a jathivaadiya etc etc…
But after the nandikadal incident he came forward and addressed a gathering as a “REAL PATRIOT”” praIsing MAHINDA
as the best hero in srilanka.

  9. Fran Diaz Says:

Good idea, Asoka ! We do wish you well in your efforts here. Hope the President takes it up.

Lorenzo is right. The younger people should get involved now.

The younger people abroad could be ADDED on to older folk who performed fine services to Lanka during the crisis of the final war with the ltte, as the older folk know the history of the whole case very well and can provide useful information to the younger folk ?

  10. weeralanka Says:

I agree with thirdeye. He got lot of personal interests. Gota would be better.

  11. Vijendra Says:

Asoka’s idea is great, timely and very appropriate. Our Embassies and High Commissions have done sweet nothing to counter the ltte propaganda and the western war-mongers though they have done things for their own personal benefit. This is a great idea, and perhaps in addition to the names already mentioned by Asoka, other patriots with a strategic vision for the country could be co-opted. Only thing is whether the President is interested in getting free advice from patriots.

  12. Fran Diaz Says:

We agree with Senevirath. There are a few FAKE patriots floating around and also writing into the web sites. Basically their aim is to confuse the reader and destabilize the country, to get some crumbs off their sponsors.

Stand strong Lankans ! True patriots will expose the truth, be Non-aligned and loyal to the country and respect the lives of all the people here, whatever outside elements say or do.

Re the UNHRC: SEVEN countries who voted with Lanka in earlier times which included China & Russia, could not vote at the last 22nd Session. That was the only loss for Sri Lanka. We think we have to just carry on regardless of any UNHRC decisions as we were basically headed in the right direction anyway.

Protect the country from within, safeguard the country from within. That the 13-A must go is increasingly clear. We have not lost. We are gaining more and more insight into the real situation, with the roles played by Tamil Nadu politicos, the TNA etc. becoming increasingly clear.

  13. Fran Diaz Says:

Of course, anyone is free to change their previous negative ways and become positive, life supportive and patriotic. We would welcome such moves.

  14. Marco Says:

Isn’t there a “young” gun Sajin Vaas Monitoring EAM?

  15. A. Sooriarachi Says:

Though a “Think Tank” of expatriate SriLanka’s is a good idea, the current commentators and analysts who are trying to counter LTTE false propoganda, such as Mahindapala, Asoka Weerasinghe, Ira deSilva and all those patriots making excellent contributions to protect the truth, should NOT be included in such a committee, as then, they too would be conveniently projected by the separatists, as Agents of the SriLankan Govt, instead of as neutral observers as they are now.
Yes we must protect their integrity as independent observers and instead appoint to the proposed “Think Tank” other respected, energetic, knowledgeable and committed individuals, who then could consult those who are already performing such a valuable service to protect truth and expose lies of the separatists and others on their payroll.

  16. Lorenzo Says:

    Sooriarachi has a valid point.

But the advisors can remain UNKNOWN to the world. That makes them MORE LETHAL!
