“Tamils don’t want violence; … but anything possible” – Sampanthan
Posted on June 6th, 2013

Asada M ErpiniƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

A report in local English daily quotes R, Sampanthan, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader as having said, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-neither it (TNA) nor the Tamil people wanted a return to violence.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

The Tamils that Sampanthan could claim to represent amount to less than 4 per cent of the population of Sri Lanka. The so-called Tamils of Indian Origin ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” all Tamils are of Indian Origin ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” constitute a further 5.2 per cent. This applies not only to the Tamils, but also to the Sinhala people, who comprise 75 per cent of the population. They have thankfully managed to enjoy four years of bomb-free, peaceful existence, and they, too, more than any other groups, would be keen to avoid a return to violence, which incidentally was instigated and perpetuated by none other than groups of Tamils ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the LTTE and its supporters.

Refuting the allegations of the connections between the LTTE and the TNA, Sampanthan goes on to say, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Successive governments were responsible for the creation of the LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. The much maligned ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Sinhala governmentsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ are a convenient scapegoat for all separatist and anti-Sri Lankan Tamils to blame for the crimes they themselves have committed over the past many decades, starting in the 1930ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s.

“We did not create the LTTE”, Sampanthan is reported to have said. More than the TNA creating the LTTE, what occurred was the opposite: it was the LTTE that created the TNA and gave it undeserved pre-eminence by disposing of all other Tamils and Tamil groups that did not tow the LTTE line.

The veiled allegations of Sampanthan should be taken seriously. After all, although the man has said that TNA did not create the LTTE, the truth is that TNA was born with the blessings of the LTTE and served as the mouthpiece of the terrorist group LTTE. All that the LTTE knew was violence, and a progeny of the LTTE warning of the possibility of violence is to be expected.

Readers of the local media are quite used to coming across nothing other than warnings when it comes to the TNA leader: on this occasion he goes on to say that attempts to dilute the 13th Amendment (to the constitution) would negate the existence of the devolution.

The13th Amendment to the constitution was a matter that was rejected outright by the LTTE. More importantly, the constitutional change was something that was forced upon Sri Lanka by the Indian Prime Minister at the time and to which the hapless President of Sri Lanka had to agree under duress. The 13th Amendment is not legal and is also an amendment that the people of Sri Lanka had never asked for nor had accepted.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The correct place for the unwelcome intrusion is the dustbin, and Sri Lankans, including Sampanthan if he wants to at least pretend that he values being a Sri Lankan, is to go for home-grown solutions.

It may be time for the peace-loving Sri Lankans, the majority of whom – whether Sampanthan likes it or not – happens to be from the Sinhala ethnic group, too, to warn the TNA leader. The men and women in uniform from the rural backwoods of Sri Lanka, under the able political and military leadership of the present government made the LTTE, which all the western pundits said could not be defeated militarily, bite the dust in the Nandikadal lagoons. Anyone among the TNA acolytes or the LTTE remnants who even considers going back to violence to demand Eelam in any other name is sure to get blown to high heavens at the hands of the valiant armed forces.

Incidentally, it is strategically important not only to maintain the military presence in the North, but also to strengthen it substantially so that separatist moves by Tamils living in their Eelam dream world could be nipped in the bud.

FOOLISH Tamilians. They don’t know they will be the VICTIMS in TNA (they voted TNA to power) violence.

PLEASE CONSIDER THESE FACTS FACTS FACTS

According to UN reports there are 89,000 Tamilian Mahaveer war widows in north and east of SL.

According to the 2012 census, there are 2,200,000 SL Tamilians in SL.

Roughly 70% of the population are adults.

So there are 1,540,000 Tamil adults in SL.

If those 89,000 Tamil men were alive and assuming men:women 50:50, there would have been 859,000 SL Tamil adult men. (1,540,000 / 2 + 89,000)

    89,000 / 859,000 = 11%

AT LEAST 11% SL Tamilian men DIED from war!

You want another 11% of Tamilian men to die?

(11% of SL Tamil women became widows. You want another 11% of Tamilian women to be widowed?)

WHEN that happens SL will have to pass Sharia Law to look after all those Tamilian war widows (govt. pays them nothing!) by allowing people to marry more than one woman!!

This is the bitter truth based on FACTS. You can google these facts.

So if you want war, bring it on baby!!

    Stupid Tamils.
In 2009 , they thought 100 million South Endians would come and fight with them. But no one came , so fearful of Sinhala Buddhist Army. Instead Tamil Nadu fools choose to accuse Endian Army that they were the fighting force in Sri Lanka, in disguise of the Sinhalese.
Stupid Jaffna Tamils do not know that Tamil Nadu lot is only good for suicide, they are cowards who could never fight, always dependant on a leader from another race.
Get ready to get killed, again fools , if you prefer it, we will give it to you again !

India created the LTTE. LTTE created the TNA. I have said many times in these pages that the TNA should have been banned in 2009.
If you take a look at Sampathan’s interview, it is pretty evident that he is making a veiled threat against Sri Lanka.
Also, if anyone noticed, just a few weeks ago Premachandran, Ponnambalam and Sampathan were saying that they wanted separation. I think “someone” hit both Premachandran and Sampathan in the head. The 2 of them are now parroting that they want devolution with a united country. Ponnambalam is the only one not toeing the line of this “someone” who is most likely India.
At the end of the day, the Tamil polity will not be happy with anything other than separation. The only way these “high caste” people can subjugate their own people is by separating and then controlling these “low castes”.
Also, if there was no “ethnic issue”, none of these TNA politicians would ever get elected. They have nothing to offer the Tamil people other than the “Sinhalaya Gonibilla” theory. In the meantime, they enjoy the perks/hospitality of elected office at the expense of the Sri Lankan taxpayer and continue to piss on them.

  4. Sunil Vijayapala Says:

don’t these fools realize the outcome of another war? more and more tamils will be wiped out. is that what their leaders want and envisage? as observed sometime ago – Dravidian culture discovered the number zero, at least they claim, – so always they end up with nothing, zipped.

  5. Lorenzo Says:

devolution within a united country = separation

“the Tamil polity will not be happy with anything other than separation”

ABSOLUTELY. That is what they promised to Tamilians in Vadakunadi resolution, at ALL the elections and won them.

Now if they give up separation, Tamils will STOP VOTING for them!!

This is why TNPF leader Ponnambala is NOT COMPROMISING on Tamil Elam. He is OUT of power and want to get POPULAR to get back to perks, free cars, free meals, bodyguards, etc.

Tamils vote for the MOST racist.

That was how Chelva beat Ponnambalam in 1956.
That was how Sambandan beat Ponnambalam and Ananda Sangari in 2010.

May be the govt. can create a new Tamil racist political party from loyal Tamils including LTTE drop outs. It should VOW to kill all Chinkalam army and liberate Tamils to Tamil Elam without ANY compromise. They should BEAT TNA in Tamil racism with violent protests, illegal Mahaveer celebrations, Vadakundi resolution-2, racist MGR songs, racist Mangyarkarasi statements, etc. Govt. should jail them and “allegedly” beat them. They should come abck with bogus bandages and vow to fight SL and Endia to a finish in the backgrond playing MGR songs.

They will win the election in the north for sure. After winning the election they should RENOUNCE violence and racism and join the govt.!!! TNA will be stumped.

Then we can show to the world, Tamilians are just a racism voting group whose demands should not be taken seriously.

We did this in war time. We created a Tamil ultra racist website calling for EXTREME violence against the Chinkalam and glorifying LTTE attacks. It attracted millions of hits from around the world. Many high profile Tamils wrote to us in email praising us!!! You won’t believe who were among them!!!

Then we held a POLL and asked what LTTE should do (this was in December 2008). Tens of thousands voted. We published a cooked up result.

    99% say – surrender
    0.1% say – keep fighting
    0.9% say – undecided

    Then we discontinued the website!

Hatred should be USED TO destroy the HATEFUL.

    Ha! Ha! Lorenzo,

    I remember that blogsite …. EllalanForce.blogspot.com!!

How we laughed at the INHERENTLY superior intelligent Eelamists who were preaching “Unceasing Waves” of attacks that would ANNHILATE the Chingala Army in a few days, swallowing all the optimistic crap dished out at that blog!

Talk about misdirection and misinformation; it was dished out in 55 gallon drums!

  7. Lorenzo Says:

    Ananda,

    Those were the days Bro!!

A desperate man will even cling on to a straw!!!

Those fools were suffering complications in irregular menstrual cycle during the last stages of the war due to EXTREME stress!!! Imagine the fun when that POLL RESULT was published in that context.

    :))

This is one example WHY the war VICTORY is SO TRUELY GREAT. It SMASHED the enemies of SL in more than one way no matter where they were hiding.

If the GOSL is RUNNING SCARED, Let the PEOPLE of Sri Lanka REPEAL it in a NATIONWIDE REFERENDUM!

Rise Up … O Patriots of Mother Lanka … and DEMOLISH this Indian IRON CHAIN that BINDS the HANDS & FEET of OUR Motherland!

President’s right to merge provinces to be repealed
Stripping of provinical land, police powers not discussed – Keheliya

    by Zacki Jabbar
    June 6, 2013

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to repeal the President’s right to merge Provinces, which has been provided for under the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella addressing a news conference in Colombo yesterday, said that constituent members of the ruling UPFA had been given time to study the Bill to amend the Provincial Councils Act.

The proposed two amendments pertained to the President’s right to merge provinces and the requirement that the approval of all provincial councils were required to amend the Constitution, he noted.

Asked if the government was also trying to strip the provinces of land and police powers, the Minister said that it had not been discussed.

Rambukwella said that the UPFA had only taken up the proposals to repeal the President’s right to merge Provinces and the consent of all provincial councils to enact legislation.

At yesterday’s Cabinet meeting the SLMC leader and Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem had asked for more time to study the proposed amendments and it had been granted.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has proposed that the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSSC) on the National Question be reconvened with or without the participation of the Tamil National Alliance.

Informed sources said that the President was of the view that if the TNA refused to attend the PSC process, the PSC should continue with the participation of Tamils in the government and Opposition.

I can’t believe what I’m hearing …. are the BJP Politicians FINALLY getting it … that they can’t get Sri Lankan Tamils an Eelam without ALIENATING and making an ENEMY of Sri Lanka, that would rather BEFRIEND India, if they BUTT OUT of our Internal Politics?

And here I was PROPOSING that Sri Lanka undertake a FACT FINDING MISSION to India to INVESTIGATE why the “legitimate aspirations” of the multivarious SEPARATIST and TERRORIST groups in India are being suppressed and denied their FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS to inflict MURDER & MAYHEM upon other law-abiding citizens of India.

If this degree of RATIONAL COMPREHENSION of India’s CULPABILITY for Sri Lanka’s PAIN & WOUNDS persists, I may have to SHELVE my PROPOSALS.

Well, let us wait and see … after all Indian Politicians suffer from Advanced Alzheimer’s Disease, and do tend to forget what they said yesterday, especially after the Indian elections are over.

India can’t solve Lanka’s political issues: BJP team

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 07 (NIE) A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led team, which is currently on a tour in Sri Lanka, has told the war-ravaged Lankan Tamils that India is ready to provide the healing touch but it cannot be expected to solve their political problems.

Interacting with a wide cross section of political parties and civil society in Jaffna on Wednesday, the leader of the six member team, Rajya Sabha member Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that India was aware that the Tamils of the Northern provinces needed a healing touch and assured them that India was with them.

However, he made it clear that Lankan Tamils should not expect India to solve their political problems. These would have to be solved by the people themselves through participation in the domestic political processes, he said.

India did not have a magic wand to solve their problems, he said.

Prasad also made it clear that India saw Sri Lanka as a friendly country and would never de-stabilize it.

The six member Indian team, which has a representative of the Shiv Sena (Suresh Prabhu), an RSS official (Ram Madhav), a political commentator (Swapan Dasgupta) and a human rights activist cum advocate (Monika Arora), was presented a kaleidoscopic view of opinions in Lanka’s Tamil-speaking Northern Province. The team met pro-government and anti-government groups separately, besides top civil and military officials.

Members of the team showed keen interest in the issues the Tamils were facing and asked probing questions. On Thursday, the team met MPs from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) at Hilton Hotel in Colombo.

Tamil leaders rode on the back of the Cold War and involved the west for the formation of Tamil only Eelam. Now the Cold War is finished. Hello TNA ! the Cold War has finished ! The Cold War ran from 1945 to 1991 only. It’s done, finished, kaput. Mother Russia is part of NATO. China is buddies with the west.

By now the Sri Lankan Tamils know that any Eelam in Sri Lanka will have the caste structure re-imposed on them as Eelam will be an appendage of Tamil Nadu. Sort out those Caste/poverty problems of Tamil Nadu in TN itself, please !

Tamil politicians should join in with mainstream political thinking in Lanka and truly help the Tamils of Lanka find some peace and happiness.

THE TNA HAS AN UNUSED CEMETARY. THEY JUST WANT TO FILL IT UP. SURE !! OUR FORCES WILL GO ALL OUT TO HELP THE TNA. ALWAYS OBLIGING, THAT WAY.

Solution for Sri Lanka cannot be a Rajapaksa-Sampanthan agreement, President tells Indian delegation

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 07, Colombo: All political parties must get together for an all-inclusive political solution for Sri Lanka’s ethnic issue and it cannot be just an agreement between the ruling party and the Tamil party, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasized today.

“All parties must get together for an all-inclusive political solution. We cannot import a solution, and it cannot be a Rajapaksa-Sampanthan agreement,” President Rajapaksa told a visiting Indian delegation when they called on the President this afternoon at Temple Trees.

The six-member Indian delegation headed by the deputy leader of Indian opposition Bharatha Janatha Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha, Ravi Shankar Prasad, told the President that “Sri Lanka’s unity and integrity are not negotiable.”

Congratulating President Rajapaksa for eradicating terrorism, the delegation said that what they saw during their visit to Jaffna “was an eye-opener,” noting the development work that has taken place, and said that the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission report “was a bold step and is brilliantly written.”

The delegation also spoke about the nature of the relationship between India and Sri Lanka and said that local issues in Sri Lanka sometimes impact India as well.

“Sri Lanka is a friend of India beyond politics, beyond government,” Prasad said. “It’s a relationship of the heart.”

The discussion also focused on several other areas of mutual interest, including the challenges faced by fishermen and the Parliamentary Select Committee to find a political solution in the north and east.

The Indian delegation asked the President about northern elections to which President Rajapaksa reaffirmed his commitment to holding the elections in September of this year.

The delegation visited the northern Jaffna peninsula Wednesday and during the visit, they held discussions with the leaders of Tamil parties including the Tamil National Alliance (TNA). They also met the Governor of the Northern Province to discuss the Northern Provincial Council elections planned to be held in September.

The BJP-led team has told the Tamils in the North that India is ready to provide the “healing touch” but it cannot be expected to solve their political problems.

Prasad has told the Tamil parties that India cannot solve their problem and urged them to participate in the domestic political process to arrive at a solution.

The delegation includes Suresh Prabhu (Shiv Sena), Ram Madhav (RSS), journalist and political commentator Swapan Dasgupta, former IFS officer Vivek Katju and human rights activist Monika Arora.

Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama and Advisor to the President Dr. Sunimal Fernando were also present for the discussions.
