According to a report in Island on 03 June, the Global Tamil Forum (GTF) states, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the Sri Lankan government hadnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t done anything to promote national reconciliationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ One may be tempted to ask the GTF and others of their ilk, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-What have you done to promote reconciliation and to rebuild Sri Lanka?ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Now that the country has had a chance to regain normalcy following the demise of the armed wing of the LTTE that brought mayhem to the one-peaceful island, all these do-gooders have ample opportunity to do something constructive, without finding fault with the government. All the evidence, on the contrary, indicates that, rather than thinking of reconciliation moves, what they have done is to promote dissension and segregation, and to profess that the (mythical) mono-ethnic Eelam is the panacea for all ills of the Tamils living in Sri Lanka and is the solution for the national question or the ethnic issue, whatever these may be.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ More than 80 percent of the foreign loans and foreign aid has been spent in rebuilding the North that the separatist Tamils claim, on fraudulent grounds, as a Tamil homeland. Although Sri Lanka has seven provinces in addition to the North and the East, the amount of development that occurs in these regions may only be a small fraction of what goes on in the North and the East.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The LTTE backers and its vociferous propagandists based in the affluent countries have ample amounts of money gained through various questionable means: they hoodwinked the gullible public and have guaranteed a bloc vote to the corrupt, unprincipled politicians in the West, especially in countries such as Canada and the US. It is the near 300 million dollar annual earnings of the LTTE (JaneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Defense Weekly) that keep the fire of hatred against Sri Lanka and its majority Sinhalese burning and prompts GTF to accuse the Sri Lanka government. The huge arsenal that was used against the armed forces of the legally-constituted government and the explosives that destroyed the economic nerve centres of the country such as the Central Bank arrived in Sri Lanka thanks to the ill-gotten gains. Even now it is not too late for the GTF and their colleagues to work out mechanisms to invest a portion of this massive war kitty in different regions in Sri Lanka, which eventually will contribute to reconciliation.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The members of GTF and the Trans National Government of Tamil Eelam, and other LTTE supporters, who desire only an occasional holiday in the tropical island, should leave the Tamils living in Sri Lanka alone to manage their lives as best as they can. Ethnic harmony is there in plenty in all parts of the country except in the North from which the LTTE chased out the Sinhalese and the Muslims who had been there for generations.

WASTING money on UNGRATEFUL Tamilians will NEVER bring reconciliation.
Instead govt. should have used that money to SETTLE Sinhalese in the north.
After wasting money on Tamils during the ceasefire what did RUN-NIL get?

After wasting money on Tamils, giving them weapons, 13 amendment, etc. what did Rajiv get?
BOMB ATTACK!!
After making Tamils proud what did Lakshman Kadirgamar get?

RECONCILIATION for them means:
Carving out the North and East, enshrining it constitutionally as ‘Tamil Ealam’, and handing it over to them on a golden platter.
They call it their ‘legitimate aspiration’. They also call it life for Tamils ‘with dignity’.
Let us be clear about it all, that is what they always wanted; that is what they still want; that is what they will continue to want. Everything else is a question of biding their time.
In a previous post I wrote about the MR regime making roads to nowhere, building airports to nowhere and making harbours to nowhere. The above is what I meant.

While the unregistered political party, the TNA, still promotes Separatism through whatever means possible, the rest of Sri Lanka is expected to promote Reconciliation ! What stupidity on the part of the GTF !

They are NOT stupid. They are working according to a plan while our regime is squabbling over what to retain and what not to retain of the infamous 13A. What our regime is doing, is engaging in idiotic discussions to trim a tree that is already a haven for the determined Ealam aspirants. We all know what trimming brings about. The trimmed elements crop up again in a more prolific manner. Our man at the top is a coward at heart. The axe he wields though endowed with all political power, is being used to trim the separatist tree which will take us nowhere…YES, NOWHERE. He does not have the moral courage to strike it at its roots and to fell it for good.
We remember the famous speech in Parliament: firstly the Motherland, secondly the Motherland, thirdly the Motherland. What a joke those utterances have proved to be in the end.
We will soon have to tell him literally what Andarey’s mother once told the famous joker: Umbey kateth pas, apey kateth pas.

The GTF is not only stupid, it is also idiotic, deceitful & untrustworthy ! In the long run this type of politics GTF indulges in will not work, same as the CH-4 type of lies. It may work for a while, but not in the long run. What the GTF does is going to boomerang on the entire Tamil Nation, both in Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. The entire Tamil Nation will be labelled as deceitful & untrustworthy.
India is the problem here because of TAMIL NADU. We all know the history of TN attempts to breakaway from India. TN is dragging foreign sources into Indian politics, and Sri Lankan leaders must be mindful of an Indian break up and help prevent that too. There are many aspects to consider and we must all be mindful of that.
The 13-A was NOT imposed on Lanka during Pres. Mahinda Rajapakse’s tenure in office. In fact, the discussion of the negative 13-A has been made possible because of the President and the present govt. 26 yrs have gone by since the 13-A was forced on Lanka, yet none of the previous govts. even debated on the topic, let alone got rid of it ! Much water has flown under the 13-A ‘bridge’ since its illegal implementation and the whole picture is clearer now. Let us proceed with wisdom, lest we lose what we have gained now as a Nation.
I am only thinking of the progress, development and good for the entire Nation. The Laws of Nature demand that we Evolve or Perish. It is up to us to choose.

The question is what has the GTF done to bring national reconciliation? Or have they engaged in divisive acts such as the resurrection of TESO to the funding of LITE. Since they have done these two things which go against any reconciliation they are the last to comment on this issue. Instead they should be charged as an organization for sponsoring terrorism by funding the LITE. Finally it does not matter what Sri Lanka does for as long as it does not benefit the Tamils at the expense of everybody else the GTF will stand by their claim that Sri Lanka has done nothing when it comes to reconciliation.

Totally agree with Lorenzo.60% of Tamils in the north are ungrateful..At the height of the final operation it was mostly the Sinhalese of the south who sent food,clothes,medicines,etc to the displaced Tamils. Sinhala actors,actresses,singers,sportsmen and women and even people on the streets sent lorry loads of items. But not the rich Tamils of Sea street or Wellawathe. Did the so called Tamil diaspora or the TNA send a single bottle of water to the displaced? But there was just one wonderful Tamil guy who did his duty.He is non other than MR Muthaia Muralidaran. Murali along with Sangakkara,Vaas ably supported by the publicity shy head of the Foundation of goodness MR Kushil Gunasekera did a lot for the displaced Tamils of the north. Their good work is still continuing. But in case Murali goes nuts and decide to contest the NPC,he will loose. Reason is that the 60% of the Tamils in the north are ungrateful. Those 60% is the Ealam dreamers who vote for the god fathers of terrorism the coward TNA.

As Mario says GTF (BTF, TGTE, NTP, LTTE, WTC, TOILET – Tamil Organizations for the International Liberation of Ezham Thamils) work according to a PLAN.
Only our leaders don’t work to a plan.
e.g. LTTE REJECTED 13 amendmnt OUTRIGHT.
Only our leaders are PANICKING even to remove 2 small clauses from it!!
Tamil people in the north are NOT influenced by GTF.
GTF is MADE UP of Tamil people in the north.
The RACIST Tamil diaspora did NOT create the LTTE, TNA.
Tamil people in the north created LTTE, TNA and the RACIST Tamil diaspora.
(When I say Tamil people I don’t mean ALL. I mean MOST.)
The ROOT CAUSE of the problem is TAMIL NATIONALISM in north SL.
This has spread to Canada, Norway, UK, France, USA, Australia, etc.
When Tamil people went there, they took their racism with them.

Why not have the same effort in Hambantotai, Amparei, Nuwara Eliya?
IF the north produces a Tamil cricketer he will get $1 million from Tamil diaspora and say genocide stories using his popularity and seek aylum claiming death squads after him!!
ALL Tamil cricketers after the war are either Colombo Tamils or upcountry Tamils.
FOOLISH dumb politicians will give a chance to a Tamil third grade cricketer to play in the national team in the name of reconciliation!!

All those Tamil organisations that work according to Separatist Plans are actually working against their own Tamil people as Tamils have less and less chances of integrating into mainstream society in Lanka.
North Sri Lanka is the closest to Tamil Nadu. It was/is in the North that all separatism is conceived and carried out. The connection to Tamil Nadu is obvious.
Organisations such as the GTF are serving the needs of Tamil Nadu politicos and NOT the needs of the Tamil people of Sri Lanka. The people heading such Tamil organisations ought NOT to be allowed to enter Sri Lanka at all.

The Global Tamil forum are made up of Tamils who are British citizens and by that they have no business issuing edicts about Tamils in other parts of the world even though they have the word “global” attached to their title.

It is the same with the Tamil Govt in Exile (TGE) in USA. Do they represent all Tamils ? In that case, where do Sri Lanka Tamils and Indian Tamils stand ? To whom do they owe allegiance – the country they were born in or the TGE ?
