Amazing Assurances By A Deadbeat Leader Fomenting Anti-Government Animosity!

In Retrospect By Sarath Kumara

July 22nd 2013
For someone who had his chances in his day, messed up the administration bigtime, almost cowedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ down to the Tamil Tigers through policies pointing to the betrayal of the nation whether inadvertently or not, bungled his way during his tenureƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and now reduced to a deadbeat leader clinging to the UNP leadrship it must take a lot of nerve to call for massive demonstrations without inviting the attention of the authorities that this man is simply trying to foment anti government aniomosity in yet another attempt to grab power for his party.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
A political partyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which according to many analysts is gradually getting phased outƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and will probably dissapear from the face of Sri Lankan politics unless the younger generationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  within the party with their innovative approach to politics in Sri Lanka becomesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a viable opposition to Sri Lanka’s present administration.

In his inimitible albeit at the best of times contentious manner,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for “massive demonstrations” to be held against the government and push for early elections. He has even been so bold as toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ accuse the government of acting like LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the deposed terrorist leader with whom some allege he colluded with surreptitiously and now with incredible bravado heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ suggests thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ thereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a need for the people to rise up against the government which also exposes the duplicity of the man and his transparencies towards the means by which he attempts to realign himselfƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with power politics of Sri Lanka today which of course seemsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a wasted effort!.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Given his track record and what transpired in Sri Lanka during the time the UNP were the ruling party which came crashing down his pleas to the Nation are no more than fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a voice in the wilderness of power deniedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as by comparison today the changes that have taken place within the country are tumultuously for the better and the progress into the future is a very promising one.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
There are however grey areas which need to be addressedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and perhaps a wake up call for the Government to attend to these post haste despite the task being daunting and something which cannot be resolved overnight but what’s painfully visible is the opportunistic manner in which the UNP leader has made his anti government call which not only is tantamount to fomenting anti government sentiment but also uncalled for as it comes at a time when the nation needs to be united,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  all resources pitted collectively towards the sustenance and stability of the nation with no further upheavals of unrest after everything the nation has been through in the not too distant past,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ so is this the kind of leader Sri Lanka can pin her hopes for the future? Hardly!!

Perhaps the observations need to monitor theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UNP leader’s inconsistencies in his political direction should focusƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on what he has saidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that the UNP will prepare for an election at grass root level and an announcement in this regard will be made in August where it needs to be pondered upon whether this is a threat of sorts involving the rabble that has permeated decent Sri Lankan society where gangland activity and underworld related crime are rife in certain areas of the nation which if true will be to his chagrin as this is a dangerous call where the grass roots to all intents and purposes will then need to be uprooted including himself in the bests interests of the nation.

To reiterate that while it is unlikely that such calls toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the masses for massive anti government demonstrations will ever be heededƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by a nation that despite some hardships and disgruntlements appear still willing to co-operateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with an administration that has restored order and many freedoms not enjoyed by them for many decades where despite the clarion calls of the UNP and other opponents of the ruling party there still appears to be a great deal of gratitudeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to the present GovernmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for the serenity which prevails over the land which this call from a deadbeat UNP leader appears to be trying to ursurp.

UnPatriotic Party (UNP) is responsible for the most of the problems we are facing today.
13, 13A Amendments are the handiwork of this UnPatriotic party. Nearly gave the country to Sri Lankan hitler prabakaran on a plate. While T M ayawardena (thambi m) and his replacement L K premadasa cosied up to the terrorist outfit but never hesitated for a moment to kill Sinhalese youth. They were just brutal against the Sinhalese youth. R W also did his part in those murderous regimes. Thanks to people having very short memories, these traitors come back and fool them again.

Being in the opposition: the only thing they do is divide the majority and making the minorities rule the country! Look at what mossies doing to the country thanks to this Unpatriotic party. They mulitiply and multiply and get some mps to the parliament and become king makers thanks to this Unpatriotic party. If this Unpatriotic party exists for another 50 years, Sri Lanka will join the former Buddhist countries club of pakisthan, malaysia, indonesia, bangladesh, iran, maldives.

They don’t care about the country at all. The only thing they are interested in is, getting into power. Sooner this traitors disappear from the political arena the better!

I think SL is up to something BIG.

THIS MONTH SL signed 2 defence pacts one with Seychelles and the other with Uganda. If you look at a map you see a chain extending from SL to Uganda through Seychelles. Are we doing what Endia wants us to do or what China wants us to do? Or is it what the Americunts want us to do?

Airbases from Seychelles and Uganda can reach the vital sea area from east Africa to south of middle east.

May be it is only to train the Ugandan army.

Thanks SK for exposing this lunatic one more time. Just to repeat: – the present day UNP shamelessly pretends that it has no moral responsibility for their ancestor’s immoral deed of 13A despite the duress!! – there should be some ‘rockets’ directed on the UNP’s current generation as well including the present UNP leaders for their brazen audacity in trying to now conveniently wash their hands off the 13A pretending amnesia! More pressure must be put on the UNP by the Public to expose their utter hypocrisy and impotency – S de Silva – London

Very correct to point out that 13 A was created by RW’s uncle when he was the dimwitted president who almost capitulated to the Indians as did successive leaders including CBK during their tenure. RW has either forgotten this very conveniently or is turning a blind eye to it as well as some other indiscretions( better defined as criminalities) where he did the same not forgetting Batalande where many young people were butchered during his impervious tenire. He needs to be taken to task along with some of his co-agitators who constantly attempt to incite the Nations’s populace where all they have in mind is regaining power which really is a pipe drean as the masses could neither be fooled by such ploys nor will they show ingratitude to a President who has restored much dignity to the Nation.

Thank you, Sarath Kumara.!!……Our problem is we are too good to our neighbours, the WEST & anyone who comes along with suggestions to improve our balance of payments, or FDIs.. WE accept without reasonong, & sign away well faught independence to foreign hands.

INDIA always look for opportunties, where they can make a mark, and Daya Master (new SLFP/ former LTTE man) said to ASK WHY INDIA has to intervene in domestic isssues such as NPC elections. India has the nerve to INDICATE a person who wanted to contest NPC elections, IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO INDIA.

What sort of BALANT INTERFERENCE by a foreign power who even cannot build ENOUGH TOILETS for their citizens to DABBLE who should CONTEST Northern Province elections. ARE our political leaders, HERMIT CRABS alllowing such statements to be made by a FOE, who armed LTTE & voted twice against Sri Lanka, when all other countries in ASIA supported us.

I do not understand WHY OUR leaders are so SCARED of INDIA. Their economy is nothing to brag about, they ARE NOT a middle income country & ofcourse they have manpower & resources, which we lack. To give into such balant interference at the HIGHEST LEVEL, is like we are NOT independent at all.

And for the LOOSER named Ranil he had his day….How can an Anglican who runs to India or to western countries, can govern Sri Lanka, even by some chance he happens to get elected?

When we have leaders like Ranil, no wonder WEST & INDIA take us for granted, never give due repect for our achievemnts. It is time for us to write & let President know HOW ANGRY we are about OUR FOREGN POLICY & how it is handled. Another matter to be ponted out, some foregn leaders FIRST visit India before coming to Sri Lanka. Are we that dense that we are unable o STOP this?. What has INDIA got to do with Lanka.

Few years back then USA foregn secretary on her visit to meet Indian PM, first visited Tamil Nadu..DO WE GET THE message, INDIA is learning from these foreign non – persons, interfering in affairs of another country. WHY HAVN’t we asked about Iraq war casualities, or Afganistan war casualties, when they ask us ABOUT LTTE reconcilation & Accountability.

The man who built his career on ACCOUNTABILITY, today he is a non entity, because when he criticized Sri Lanka, his own SENATORS in the upper house was doing something so IRREGULAR, now there is an inquiry. So he cannot say anything about accountablity now.

This is why we have to have some code of ethics under which we pratice our foreign policy. Economy will move along even without much assistance or direction from the ruling party. Beacuse the PRIVATE SECTOR earns the money & Govt. sector spends it.

Thank you all…….another expat from Canada, joining your discussion…..~ J
