“It is said that if he joins the government, he will be given a minister position.”
That says it all.
All these losers are after ministries. NOT to serve the people.

Lorenzo,
Let him come !
His name can easily be added to the ” list of traitors” by Lorenzo.
This man John Amaratunga was one of the main traitors involved in Millinium City incident
How good if, Runil, Chandrika also joined the government ? What then our dear commentators going to say ?
Oh my dear commentators don’t be blind in your love for one person, the president and act blind and deaf. Love for the country and its 20 million people should be much greater.

JA, well, I agree he’s not a man of proven patriotic values or high achievement for that matter.
However, I say even if the Devil is going to join MR to stop this terrible Libya-Iraq-Syria like catastrophe that awaits SL if MS wins, then I say let’s welcome the Devil with open arms.
The point is never mind what kind of a political parasite will cross over to MR’s side (agree, not to serve the people or nation but for personal ambition), such parasite will not be able to do damage to national security as that area is sealed off.
While these parasites come from a band that includes LTTE agents (who are now known to have got certain promises of removal of SLDF from NE, police & land powers, etc.), the present regime has already told a flat NO to all of those unreasonable demands and have said them openly!
Therefore, the damage these parasites can do to the nation in my view is limited but nevertheless they need to be watched.
If the question is about the motives & morals of these fence-jumping parasites, then I think we should begin with MS.
The bottom line: The pro-LTTE western designs (that are now in tandem with China Containment Policy) for a regime change in SL (and thereby pave way for an yet another terrible Libya-Iraq-Syria like catastrophe) seem to be coming apart at seams and that I am sure has some persons very, very worried and I quite expect to see them upping the ante in the coming days (likely with pumping of more mega million Dollars and Pounds into MS’s unholy cabal).

Independent:
“Love for the country and its 20 million people should be much greater”
No question. However, where I am drawing a blank is how can this be true if one is also acting deaf and blind to the fact that this common candidate’s platform includes pro-LTTE element who are out to divide our nation?
No ifs and buts – a simple, stark fact!
Now trying to pull a smoke screen over that stark fact with corruption, governance, Executive Presidency, etc. etc. reasons are just not going to hold water.
Because…
We had all those unsavory traits and results with an Executive Prime Minister posts since independence (particularly, with horrific results when RUN-NIL took over that post in 2002), so if we are asking not to be deaf & blind, we then need to be sincere and admit that in as far as those issues are concerned, little, if any, will change in a hypothetical MS-win scenario, but what will surely change FOR SURE is the status of our national security (due to RUN-NIL’s inevitable, dangerously stupid machinations).
Yes, truly, not a time to be Deaf & Blind!
