Thank you UPFA, this is the first and a most important step in winning Sri Lanka back to Sri Lankans. UNP had over 5 months with new legislations inacted to punish robbers of the Rajapakse regime but so far none. I therefore, assume that beyond any doubt Mahinda was not a thief. Let the parliamentary elections go ahead and the new government (I want a Rjapakse government) once in office should spend a few weeks to bring to books the greatest robbery/robbers of all time the Central Bank bond scam and take steps to get back the money.

Time tested winner, Mahinda Rajapakse, welcome back !
A sigh of relief will sweep through all Lankans and others longing for a sense of Security and real Safety, with some truth and justice to all in Lanka. We can also anticipate politics free of vinditiveness and revenge.
I did feel that the new illegal govt was using MR to vent revenge on for acts done by others in the far past.
As Nilwala says, watch out for MS, the weathercock Prez that swings with the winds that blow, good or bad for Lanka.

It is very important to defeat this treacherous UNP govt let by Thoppigala Ranil. There are more reasons to do that but one of the most important ones is to save our war heroes from going to the guillotine. Think how hard Ranil tried to catch Gota? First, Rakna Lanka Security Company, then the floating armoury in Galle, construction of Defence head-quarters in Pelawatte and then the decade old Mig deal. Since he is very intelligent and took decisive and strategic steps to get a court order preventing him from the arrest, Ranil couldn’t do it this time. However, if he becomes the first executive PM in this country after the next general election, he will definitely do it. Remember how Ranil tried to go to Commonwealth to get the court order reversed in order to punish Gota merely because he defeated Velu. Not only Gota, Ranil tried his best to complicate Karannagoda for an old case of disappearing some Tamil students while in the custody of Navy.
So, if you want to see the end of war heroes, vote for the UNP or if as a grateful nation want to protect them, cast your vote wisely and make MR the next executive PM in this country.

ECONOMYNEXT: President Maithripala Sirisena, who is facing intense criticism over accommodating his nemesis Mahinda Rajapaksa in the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), appears to have made a second U-turn in as many days.
President Sirisena reportedly agreed to name former strongman Rajapaksa as a UPFA candidate to face the August 17 parliamentary election, but even 24 hours after the initial announcement, he himself remained silent.
However, Buddhist monk Maduluwawe Sobitha, a key figure responsible for Sirisena’s victory at January 8 vote, told reporters that he spoke with the president who claimed he was unaware of Rajapaksa getting a UPFA ticket.
“He says “mama danne na” ( I don’t know),” the monk told reporters. “Let’s wait for him to make a statement.”
Social media which strongly campaigned for Sirisena at the last election had by this week turned completely against him. “You betrayed 6.2 million voters,” said one post on Facebook. Many described Sirisena in language that cannot be printed.
A more charitable headline said: “Maithri Undergoes Spine Removal Surgery after U Turn Tragedy.”
Meanwhile, political sources said Friday’s announcement by loyalists of Rajapaksa suggests that they had hijacked the UPFA and that Sirisena was powerless in the face of a major coup within the main opposition.
UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha was rumoured to have cut a deal with Rajapaksa to give them UPFPA nominations. Sirisena is now expected to lead a separate group at the August polls under the SLFP.
This means the UPFA will no longer have SLFP as a constituent party, Such a split would only strengthen the ruling UNP which could now be assured of a comfortable majority, political sources said.
At Friday’s press conference at the Abhayarama temple in Colombo, Rajapaksa loyalists dodged questions on terms of the agreement reached with Sirisena who only a day earlier vowed he will not give nominations to any Rajapaksa.
