There will also be a CME program and panel discussion on 28 November evening. This workshop and CME are expected to benefit the practicing urologists and post-graduate trainees in Urology. The  urologists from the north-eastern region with West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand will attend both the programs.

The laser prostatectomy is currently being practiced for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, in most of the major hospitals of the country. This procedure is said to be safe in elderly patients, in patients with DM, cardiac diseases and those taking anti-coagulant drugs. Bleeding during the operation  is also negligible. The hospital stay is much less than the conventional transurethral resection of prostate.

This is the first workshop of its kind, which has been organized in the region, said Dr PM Deka, Head of the Department and chief consultant, Urology, Dispur Hospitals Pvt. Ltd, who is also the organizing chairman of the workshop.
