Sydney 15.5.2016: United Nations Day of Vesak 2016 was held at Sydney Town Hall. This event was to commemorate Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing.
Buddhists from Theravada, Mahayana & Vajrayana traditions prayed for peace, compassion & tolerance, with the Venerable Chow Khun Phra Sudhammayanavites VI, President of the Buddhist Federation of Australia, addressed the opening.
Among VIP attendants were the Royal Thai Consul-General, the Honourable Philip Ruddock MP represented the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Robert Kok represented the Lord Mayor of Sydney City Council, political leaders’ representatives from both sides at the State and Federal levels, as well as representatives reading out message from Mr. Ban-ki Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

    Only place no Vesak in Sri Lanka was temple trees. MR used to have pirith every poya days when he was
    there. New incumbent is a die-hard catholic, token Buddhist pol pot ponil. Instead he had a concert with
    his buddy ravi shankar. That was while most of the country several feet of water and scores of people
    dead/missing. Where are those Sinhala traitors who voted for this tom pachaya?
