If this Slvlog story is true and when consider Sri Lanka foreign exchange earning remitted by these වහල් employee’s all politicians should be shamed. All these politicians enjoyed and robbed including CB robbery the majority of the money remitted by these poor SL workers.

Sincere thanks, Dharshana. It is mostly corrupt government functionaries like Upul Deshapriya who are the real criminals. Often their political bosses, those who appoint them to those posts in return for some service done to them during electioneering, don’t know what they are up to. There are corrupt politicians, but they are far fewer than these potentially and actually corrupt officials working under them. Only 225 MPs, but thousands of civil servants. The former occupy positions of power. The struggle to remain in power is greater than that they have to stage to get it. The pressure on them to keep clear of corruption allegations is much greater than that on their subordinate officers. MPs are in office only for a limited term, but public servants occupy their posts usually until retirement. I think the latter have the opportunity to be more corrupt than the former, with impunity. For they don’t depend on votes of the public. You have exposed Upul Deshapriya and some of his female accomplices with evidence. That is very good. What you are doing is real investigative journalism and what hat you are saying about intrepid young anti-corruption activists is also true. We all have a duty protect such young crusaders.
