There had been instances in the recent history, particularly in Egypt that the incumbent Presidents stage managed shooting incidents against them to arrest and hang or deport their political opponents. These incidents occurred during the reigns of late Presidents Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak.  There was also a CIA sponsored conspiracy against the populist President Gamal Abdul Nasser by Muslim Brotherhood Movement led by Seyyed Ramadan and it was timely detected and the movement was banned and Ramadan fled Egypt before he was arrested and some other leaders including Seyyed qutub and his brother Mohammed Qutub were executed

In Sri Lanka too there was such an attempt and it related to the Town Hall bomb attack on Victor Ivan’s Bandit Queen Chandrika but itt got misfired and she got one of her eyes injured while some PSD personnel lost their lives.  Although the bomb incident was attributed to LTTE terrorists, it was the first incident in which the LTTE missed their target if it had been done by them  Anyone who has read the  book Victor Ivan’s”Choura Rejini” will understand that this Choura Rejini is more than capable of doing such things.

Now there is a big story being circulated about a hitherto unknown person named Namal Kumara telling about a conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and the former Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapksa.  It all began with a news conference held by this Namal Kumara who calls himself as the Operations Executive of the Force Against Corruption (Dhooshana Virodhi Balakaya) in Kandy on September 13^th. This media conference had been convened to make a special revelation about Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nalaka Silva, (NS) head of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) reportedky telling this person that President Maithripala Sirisena cannot be trusted and that they should work to strengthen the Prime Minister. He said that DIG Nalaka Silva told him that President Sirisena and Gotabaya Rajapaksa will get together in 2020 and that they had already formed an alliance. He further stated that NS told him that here is currently a conflict between the President and the PM and if the situation got worsened nearer to 2020, that he should get hold of underworld leader Makandure Madush and do whatever is possible.

Speaking further this Namal Kumara said that as per NS, Madush had issues with both President Sirisena and Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Since he was arrested and was in remand for about a year, during which time he formed a relationship with the TID and even after Madush fled to Dubai, his relationship with the DIG NS continued and Madush was making plans to eliminate President Sirisena due to his strong stand against the drug menace and DIG NS is assisting this plot and the plan is to attack the President while he’s visiting Batticaloa and Ampara and pin the attack on an individual named Pushparaj, who was a candidate who contested elections from the Eastern Province.

This Namal Kumara has also said subsequently that the grand plan also included assassination of the Rajapaksa family members and he once went to Carlton House in Tangalle to invite the former President for a function in Warakapola as a move to get acquainted with him.

All Sri Lankans remember that in 1962 when Prime Minister Madam Sirimavo Bandaranaike came to know about a coup detat and a plot to assassinate her, she immediately went into action and got all those involved in the coup plan got arrested.  Some of those arrested got clemency from the Queen of UK subsequently as Sri Lanka was not a fully independent country at that time although it was said that we got independence in 4^th February 1948. The people of the country are wondering why Sirisena had not taken any action so far, for almost one month to arrest Namal Kumara and the DIG Nalaka Silva for plotting to assassinat e him.  The reason for Srisena’s inaction has been well established by a research carried out by a research team of Lanka E News (LEN), a website operated from London and access to which is banned from Sri Lanka  Extracts from the said research report published in LEN are highlighted below:

• The so-called assassination plot is a melodrama orchestrated by Sirisena himself. The main actor in the conspiracy is an officer receiving salary from Sirisena,

• Namal Kumara is working for the ‘Presidential task Force on drug prevention’ which is under the purview of the President .The Institution which propagates the slogan ‘ a country free from drugs’ is being run by a Doctor named Samantha Kumara Kithalawarachi who calls himself as its Director.
• Namal Kumara has recently applied for a loan from the Commercial Bank in Warakapola, and his place of work and his employer’s details have come to light with evidence. Accordingly his National Identity Card No. 862322878V and he has stated that his employer is ‘Presidential task Force on Drug Prevention, Presidential Secretariat , Colombo 1.
• It is Dr. Kithalawarachi aforementioned Director of Presidential task Force who had certified Namal Kumara’s salary particulars and signed it. The‘Presidential task Force on drug prevention’ is functioning directly under Sirisena and monitored by him.
• The chief speaker in the campaign ‘country free from drugs’ directly under president Sirisena is Namal Kumara There are photographs depicit Namal Kumara making speeches during those programs. He established links with the police via these programs.
• Namal Kumara has also been supplying information regarding drugs to the Police . Besides this he has been an activist of Bodhu Bala Sena and ‘Sinhale’ with the knowledge and consent of the President. The format of ‘Presidential task Force on drug prevention’ has transformed into a paramilitary organization to a great extent, and these are the scoundrels who were in the frontline stoking and fuelling the flames of the Sinhala –Muslim riots in Kandy recently with Sirisena’s patronage.
• These are the same villains who attacked the Ambathenna Vihara and set fire to it pouring petrol. It is the same scoundrels who launched attacks against Muslims in Ginthota ,as well as created mayhem in Amparai. Those attacks were launched with the primary aim to portray that the Muslims are being subjected to torment and trauma even by the UNP
• DIG Nilantha Jayawardena who is in charge of the Police State Intelligence Service (SIS) is eyeing for the IGP post and his closest rival is DIG Nalaka Silva who is on par with him. When Sirisena had disputes with the IGP Poojitha Jayasundera, the former used Nilantha Jayawardena to achieve his goals. Because of this Sirisena himself paved the way for a relationship build up between Namal Kumarra and Nilantha. Most of the taped recordings provided by Namal Kumara were supplied by Nilantha .
• The popularity base of Sirisena has plummeted to a meager 4 %. Yet he is not prepared to retire from politics-.
• The UNP–Sirisena marriage is tottering with no possibility of a reconciliation .Hence the only option now available to Sirisena is to negotiate a deal with Mahinda.The ‘group of 16 was sent to Mahunda as a preliminary step though the Rajapakses treated that group like chewed betel.
• Based on the fake ‘teledrama’ Sirisena is to be assassinated via a conspiracy of Ranil, and the latter thereby becomes the ‘King’ . By this orchestrated drama what Sirisena is trying to drive home to Rajapakses is if this crisis is to be averted Rajapakses shall put through a deal with Sirisena.
• Sirisena who believes that ‘Raw’ was behind the arrest of the corrupt chief of his staff on bribery charges was for a long time waiting for an opportunity to hit back at India. The Indian national Marseil Thomas who was enlisted by Namal Kumara for the Sirisena conspiracy is from Kerala. In 2017 he came to Sri Lanka on a tourist visa which has expired
• Namal Kumara is t famous for using the close relationship he had with Nilantha Jayawardena and Nalaka Silva of the police to get criminals facing charges to escape from the arms of the law and flee after collecting kickbacks. The Indian national had come in search of Namal Kumarara seeking assistance as he had no valid visa. What Namal Kumara did was exploited the situation and entangled the Indian on a well calculated plan in the assassination conspiracy .
• The sniper weapons which were with the Terrorist investigation unit do not belong to the inventory of police weapons. These were weapons smuggled to the South during the notorious Mankulam withdrawal operations and those were taken into custody from the house of a deserted member of the forces.
• It is a common saying , a policeman is one who sells even his mother .When probing into the activities and affairs of Nalaka Silva it has come to light he is a fox that devours both sides , and a byword for worst treacheries.
• If frauds, robberies and treacheries are an art and drama he is ‘Shakespeare Sirisena’ . Sadly however, his teledrama using Namal Kumara as key player courted disaster and defeat.

The lingerie designer turned Finance Minister quisling Mangala Samaraweera issuing a statement on this issue has vehemently condemned the media institutions for what he calls misreporting of CID investigations He has said that as of this time, the only source for these allegations is a statement made by Namal Kumara and the CID is yet to report any evidence substantiating the existence of such a plot and the allegations are so grave in their implication that CID detectives must take every precaution to thoroughly investigate and seek to corroborate their every element, as a matter of national security.  He has further stated that several media outlets have given wide publicity to false, unattributed claims that the CID had alleged in court that an Indian national Marceli Thomas arrested by them had confirmed the existence of a plot to assassinate President Sirisena, Mr. Rajapaksa and others and the nenews reports are false, baseless and inflammatory. The has stated that the CID has not, at any time, in either written or verbal submissions to the Magistrates Court, made any statement that could lead to the conclusion or inference that an assassination plot has been established or corroborated.

Meanwhile, apparently in a bid to divert people’s attention on this the government sources, including the Police seem to be making all efforts implicate JO politicians also as involved on this conspiracy.  Perhaps on the guidance of some underhand personnel the Indian national Thomas had been sent to the residence of Mr Wimal Weerawansa to meet him and these visit or visits have been unsuccessful.  As such it is reported that the CID is now planning to interrogate Mrs. Shashi Weerawansa on these visits.

This conspiracy issue orchestrated by Sirisena as outlined in the LEN research report prove once again that Sirisena is an untrustworthy, venomous, insatiable, and treacherous crook who would even sacrifice anyone for his personal benefit.  Ranil and the UNPers well deserve the shoddy treatment they are now getting from this known as Aappaya in the JO circles  (end)

The statement issued by Mangala on misreporting of CID Investigation regarding the conspiracy to assassinate President

(Lanka e News – 26.Sep.2018, 11.30PM) The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is conducting investigations into serious allegations of an alleged conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, amongst others. As of this time, the only source for these allegations is a statement made by Mr. A.M. Namal Kumara. While the Criminal investigation Department has yet to report any evidence substantiating the existence of such a plot, these allegations are so grave in their implication that CID detectives must take every precaution thoroughly investigate and seek to corroborate their every element, as a matter of national security.

On Monday, CID officers arrested Indian national Marceli Thomas” in connection with this investigation. Yesterday, Mr. Thomas was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrates Court, and an order to detain him in CID custody was sought and obtained. The reason CID officers sought to detain Mr. Thomas was to conduct further investigations on a suspicion that Mr. Thomas may have violated Section 5 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 48 of 1978 by failing to report information pertaining to plans to commit an act of terror. This suspicion was filed in writing by the CID and stated verbally in open court. Further evidence in support of this submission was shared with the Honourable Magistrate in chambers.

Several media outlets have since given wide publicity to false, unattributed claims that the CID had alleged in court that an Indian national had confirmed the existence of a plot to assassinate President Sirisena, Mr. Rajapaksa and others. These news reports are false, baseless and inflammatory. The CID has not, at any time, in either written or verbal submissions to the Magistrates Court, made any statement that could lead to the conclusion or inference that an assassination plot has been established or corroborated, whether through Mr. Thomas or by any other means.

Journalists are free to observe any court proceedings in person or to apply for transcripts of proceedings and court filings through the Registrar of the Court. Therefore, it is inexcusable to make such serious and inflammatory statements on a matter of public record without citing any sources or mode of corroboration.  Responsible media organisations and public figures alike should restrict their reporting on judicial matters to the written and verbal submissions made by parties bfore the court. Such caution is all the more paramount with regards to reporting on criminal investigations with serious implications to the security of the state.
