Suspect linked to Easter Sunday attackers arrested in Maradana

Police have arrested another individual suspected to be linked to the Easter Sunday attackers, along with gold and over Rs 8.3 million in cash in the Maradana area.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspect, Buhari Mohamed Rafik, was arrested yesterday (09) by Slave Island Police.

He said that over Rs 8.3 million in cash and 776 grams of gold jewellery were discovered after a search at his official room at a private institution in T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10.

The suspect, a resident of Galwihara Road in Dehiwala, was arrested during an operation carried out based on information received that he is connected to the terrorist group.

The Police Spokesman said that the suspect’s luxury house at Dehiwala and several bank accounts were also uncovered. He is being detained and further interrogated by the police.
