Reports from the North state that the separatist elements in the North led by the racist terrorist rump TNA are making arrangements in all districts of the North to commemorate November 27th as the Mahavir Day. They are reported to be clearing many sites to hold these functions. This is particularly held to provoke the security forces who with sacrifices of their lives and limbs liberated this country from 30 years of terrorist atrocities which included inhuman barbaric killing of innocent villagers in the so-called border areas that prevailed at that time including hacking the elders with machetes and other sharp weapons, smashing children and babies on nearby trees, cut opening of the abdomen of pregnant mothers, mass murder of religious prelates, abduction and killing of school children etc.
Fortunately, our security forces became triumphant in eliminating these atrocities due to the command given by Prime Minister Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa and the guidance and direction given by President H.E. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The racist Tamils of the North forcibly hold this day called Mahavir day (The Great Heroes Day) on November 27th which was the day in which a terrorist leader named Shanker was killed by our security forces. The question asked in general by all Sri Lankans is how can we allow a group racists to forcibly commemorate the death of a sworn enemy of this country at a time when the twin great leaders responsible for ending the war reign the country as the H.E.President and the Prime Minister?
We were powerless to do anything against this kind of activity in the past as the country was ruled by terrorist and foreign servile elements and for them even speaking by anyone against this kind of activity was a great offense.
Now the people should have the complete liberty to oppose these anti-national activities and therefore the security forces and the Police should be empowered to take strict and firm action against all those responsible, instigate, encourage, and promote these activities to be taken into custody and prosecute them on charges of treason.
Commemorations in this country should be allowed to hold only on 9th May, which was the day of Liberation.
Similarly steps should also be taken to prohibit the so-called Maha Viru commemoration days of April 5th and 11th November being held annually by the JVP hooligans who hold highly bloated functions on these two days in which the country lost nearly 100,000 youth, several thousand on 5th April, 1971 and over 60,000 youth and Several million rupees worth state properties and restricted people to engage in travels, engage in their day to day business activities and forced the people to spend the nights in pitch darkness in 1988-1990 period whereas they do not have even 3% of the people’s support in this country and even lost the deposit in the recent President Election.
Steps should also be taken to prosecute the JVP hooligans responsible for these activities as well and discourage anyone even to think of engaging in treacherous and harmful activities against the country.
