Father Cyril Gamini Fernando has filed a fundamental rights (FR) petition seeking an injunction order preventing him from being arrested by the police.

The petition was filed before the Supreme Court.

Last week, the Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Major General Suresh Sallay filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) pertaining to the allegations made by Fr. Gamini and several other individuals during an online forum held on October 23 to brief Sri Lankan community living overseas on the Easter Sunday attacks.

The complaint referred to comments made by Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini, who is a member of the National Catholic Committee for Justice to Easter Sunday Attack Victims, during the online forum alleging that the country’s intelligence units had provided financial and other assistance to Zahran Hashim, the leader of the National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) who was behind the suicide bombings.

The complaint states that it was also alleged, during the webinar, that the then-Brigadier Suresh Sallay had played an active role in nurturing Zahran Hashim and his followers.

Major General Sallay had strongly denied the allegations leveled by Father Cyril Gamini and others during the webinar while also charging that the allegations were made with the intention of discrediting him” and are completely false.

Later, on October 27, the CID informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that investigations have commenced regarding the complaint filed by the Major General Suresh Sallay.

Fr. Cyril Gamini, who was summoned by the CID the following day to record a statement in connection with the complaint filed by the SIS chief, had requested for one week’s time to provide the statement. This was informed by three Catholics priests who appeared before the CID on behalf of Fr. Cyril Gamini.

The Catholci Church and their priests!

This priest has made an accusation against a person of standing in the minds of the Sri Lankan people. He has to prove his accusations and allegations before the law in Sri Lanka. Any attempts by him to crawl into little mouse holes in the law is not becoming of a true person of a ‘higher call’. He simply cannot take an ‘holier than thou’ attitude and escape the consequences of slanderings, it that is what all this entail.

The Catholic Church is by no means an angelic institution. Through millenia it has been the purveyor of cultural and religious genocide in many countries throughout the world. Today it is in free fall around the world for it can no longer hide its true face. What it is most famous for now is nothing other than abuse of the vulnerable – the children, women and the destitute.

In 2005 it had the gumption to prevent the sale of Dan Brown’s book Da Vinci Code in Sri Lanka siting – it would hurt the sensibilities of the Christian / Catholics in Sri Lanka. In doing so it became the only country in the world other than the Solomon Islands to do so! The majority Sri Lankan Buddhists were prevented from enjoying an excellent piece of fictional writing by a famous writer. This shows the extent to which they go to ‘poodle’ the Sri Lankan administrations.

Now in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday Attacks it is now trying hard to ‘muscle in’ the current administration which had very little to do with this dastardly attacks on the innocents. By throwing accusations against the current administration it is trying to divert attention from the terrorists and their world wide network who actually were responsible for the attack. It has found it worth to castigate the current administration in spite of the fact that it is abundantly clear as to what made the Islaamist Terrorists carryout the attack on Christian Churches.

Here in Sri Lanka it still has a captive community who can still be ‘milked’ for whatever they can get out of them. And so it is in still vulnerable communities around the world. The Catholic Church is nothing other than a simple continuation of the Bloody Roman Empire in a different guise!
