Tamil Nadu Tamils represent 6% in India but India’s Central Government is molly cuddling DMK!
Posted on March 19th, 2013

Shenali Waduge

We are baffled. How can a country which has a population of 1.2BILLION people continue to fall at the feet of political parties passing the pillow of power between them in the state of Tamil Nadu which has a population of 72million Tamils which is just 6% of the entire population?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The DMK and AIADMK have taken turns in their support for the LTTE over the years. They have also taken turns in vilifying the LTTE as well. The amount of contradictory statements coming from these two political parties of Tamil Nadu speaks volumes of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-opportunismƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and highlights the need for New Delhi to change its stance of bending to Tamil NaduƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s whims and fancies.

  • Karunanidhi eulogising LTTE leader is serious: AIADMK (Times of India ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 2007)
  • Desperate LTTE targets Karunanidhi (Indian Express ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 2009)
  • LTTE is using Tamils as a shield (Jayalalitha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjHb9YW_GVw ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” January 2009)

India is well aware that it is separatism that first forced India to import the struggle creating a guerilla movement in Sri Lanka. Therefore, so long as India continues to allow the very mouthpieces that took turns to nurse Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s tiger, IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s sovereignty remains under threat and at high risk of separation this time with Western involvement.

India must not forget the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi on Indian soil was a clear message that the LTTE was no longer prepared to be IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s baby as it had been adopted by the West to carry out its sinister designs upon India. Warnings appear to go unheeded for India in view of its preoccupation or rather obsession to keep Sri Lanka under its noose.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What India needs to do is to move towards a new Indo-Lanka policy along the lines of what Romesh Bhandari advocated ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-India intends to have an Indian rather than a Tamil Nadu policy towards Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. Its now bordering the ridiculous when the entire world is laughing at a country as big as India which is seen dancing to the tune of Tamil Nadu.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is not what we would expect from Hindi India. But, India not surprisingly is taking the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-pacifyingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ route and agreeing to bring a Resolution against Sri Lanka on human rights violations. Its now 4 years on shouldnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t DMK have resigned from the UPA Government when India started working with President Rajapakse helping with the Northern reconstruction and resettlement? We would also like to know in what manner these political parties actually helped the Sri Lankan Tamils. What about the appalling conditions that the Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu live in yet there is no shortage of tears!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ DMK has 18MPs in the Lok Sabha. UPA has a total 250 seats in the Lok Sabha and without DMK the number will reach 232 and with outside support UPA will have 303 while the Opposition has 240 seats.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If the media presence when the second Buddhist priest was attacked in India gives a message these kollywood antics of Tamil Nadu keeps us in Colombo quite entertained for we impatiently wait to see what more melodramaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s are in store before the Geneva vote on 22 March 2013. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister describes DMKƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s withdrawal a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-dramaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ too. We only remember like yesterday the 3 hour fast by Karunanidhi in 2009.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What is so unsettling is to see a Central Government as mighty as India bow down to the Tamil Nadu whining.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yet, Tamil Nadu may boast of 72million Tamils but Sri Lanka has friends in India too ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”and they are the 167million Dalits who account for 16% of the total population of India and many of them are Buddhist Ambedkarites. These ties will help secure the goodwill between India and Sri Lanka that IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s current Central Government does not have the pluck to deliver.

Tamil Nadu Political parties are jockeying for position in the upcoming National elections, and are posing as the “Most Tamil” of all Tamils by raising Sri Lankan Tamil issues. The current ploy by the Karunanidhi/DMK leaving the UPA government coalition is just that: Internal Indian Politics. However, these internal politics of India have tremendous security impacts on Sri Lanka at the UN and elsewhere.

Regional communal politics of India ALSO impacts India Nationally in many ways.

It raises comparisons with India’s policies in Kashmir, encouraging Kashmiris, aided and abetted by Pakistan, to raise human rights issues and cries of “genocide” at the UN. India knows this, aware that India itself initiated, aided and abetted Tamil terrorism in Sri Lanka and has BLOODY HANDS that could be exposed at the UN in any broader discussion of human rights abuses by India.

Yesterday, the Lok Sabha censured Pakistan for interfering in India’s internal matters by passing a Resolution in Pakistan’s parliament condemning human rights abuses by India in Kashmir. If that is interference by Pakistan in India’s internal matters, will not a Resolution in the Lok Sabha against “human rights abuses” against Tamils in Sri Lanka also be interference in the internal affiars of Sri Lanka? Indians are WELL AWARE of this Double Standard being exposed to the world.

India is surrounded by neighbors who are angry at India. Sri Lanka is ARGUABLY the ONLY NEIGHBORING COUNTRY that STILL wants to maintain amicable relations and an alliance with India.

    India has disagreements
with Pakistan on the Jammu & Kashmir territories, and competes with Pakistan in Afghanistan threatening Pakistan’s Western border as well,
with China on border territories that India lost to China in the Indo-Chinese war and on support for the Tibetans,
with Bangla Desh on borders and the influx of illegal immigrants,
with Nepal on its relations with China, and now
with Sri Lanka on Sri Lankan Tamil, Fishing rights in the Palk Strait, and Sri Lanka’s relations with China,

to name but a few of India’s conflicts with its neighbors.

Finally, Indians are mortified by Dravidian animosity, vociferously led by Indian Tamils, towards the majority non-Dravidian peoples of India that is creating a North-South divide in India. Dravidians, in general, and Indian Tamils in particular, feel dominated by the Northerners and viciously attack the Northerners.

Indians are particularly worried that these internal regional squabbles in India are affecting India’s Foreign Policy to the Deteriment of its Overall National Security.

For example, Chief Minister Mamata recently scuttled an a painfully arrived at agreement between India and Bangla Desh on the repatriation of illegal Bangla Deshi immigrants into India. The recent pulling out opf Karunanidhi’s DMK out of the UPA coalition on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, placing the UPA govt at risk, as an election ploy is yet another example of Communal election politics in India. On top of this, 800 million people of India live in areas dominated by Naxalite/Maoist terrorists over which the National govt has little control.

ALL of these things CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE that the COMMUNAL Policies of India are creating centrifugal forces that threaten NATIONAL INTEGRITY of India.

The lesson Sri Lanka must learn from all of this is two fold:

    1. Don’t adopt the federal system of India as a model for Sri Lanka; India is CLEARLY on its way to DISINTEGRATION. Mercifully, Sri Lanka is small enough to be governed efficiently by a UNITARY non-FEDERAL form of government.

    2. Anticipate that Dravidian/Tamil Nadu – Central Government politics in India will always ADVERSELY AFFECT Sri – Lanka. Therefore, PREVENT the growth of Indian Influence in Sri Lanka by EVERY MEANS and GET OUT OF THe DEADLY EMBRACE of India before it is TOO LATE!

I recommend the following program on India’s NDTV to readers to get a first hand view of these issues being discussed by both Dravidian and non-Dravidian political commentators. Note that many of them take on the communal Tamil commentators (Esp. Elangovan) to task and defend Sri Lanka and India’s National Interests vigorously!

Let us NOT HELP Sri Lanka’s ENEMIES!

    ……………….
Sri Lanka warns its nationals against traveling to Tamil Nadu

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 19, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government today warned its citizens against visiting to the State of Tamil Nadu in India and requested them to travel with caution.

    ….More

Dont be baffled about this Shenali. The answer is obvious. Its a “single issue mollycoddling” by New Delhi, and the single issue is Sri Lanka! They arent particularly interested in resolving any of Tamil Nadu’s many REAL problems eg latrines, primary education or clean water. The Indian Union is an artificial, corrupt and evil institution. India should be broken up into many parts, each part to address only the real issues facing their teeming millions.

Endia is NOT different to Tamil Madu.

    1. Endia has still NOT hung those Tamil terrorists of Ghandhi case.
    2. Endia TELLS Karunanodi and Jeyalalitha to protest (secretly).
    3. Endia CREATED LTTE (NOT Tamil Madu people!!!).
    4. Endia did 13 amendment (NOT Tamil Madu)

    So Endia is the enemy.

It is a fact that the highest form of Hinduism, Raj Yoga with its emphasis on Meditation, is akin to Buddhism. In effect, the Buddhist ‘Ambedkites’ of India, the Dalits, are a fairly high percentage, and they are thereby also close to Hindu Raj Yoga.
The so called ‘lowly’ of the land have been brought to pinnacle of spiritual thought and action.

Truth is eternal. “Truth wins’ says the motto on the Indian flag.

Tamil Nadu leaders are suffering from the diseases of Ego & Confusion. Their earlier Separatist aspirations from India were broken when the adjoining states moved off TN leadership. Their land grab of Sri Lanka or parts of it, have also crumbled.
TN had best turn to the Four Great Yogas which are free of the Caste Structure, for all of Tamil Nadu. The Buddhists can find common ground with them in that.

“New Delhi: The all-party meeting convened by Government to explore the possibility of Parliament adopting a resolution against Sri Lanka Wednesday night saw most parties opposing such a move, leaving no scope for it.

At the 90-minute meeting, only DMK and AIADMK supported the idea of bringing a resolution.

Sources said as most of the parties were not in favour, the idea is as good as given up. Samajwadi Party, which supports the government from outside, said Sri Lanka is a friendly country and the Indian parliament should not pass a resolution against it.

“We are with Lankan Tamils but there is no need for a resolution by Parliament as Lanka is the only country which stood with us during the 1962 China war.

“We have recently rejected Pakistan parliament resolution on Afzal Guru. How can we do the same to a friendly neighbour. At the UNHCR, India should do what is in the national interest and interst of Tamils of Lanka,” said SP leader Rewati Raman Singh while emerging from the meeting convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath.

JD(U) Sharad Yadav also echoed similar views at the meeting where he is understood to have questioned the logic of adopting a resolution against a sovereign nation. He is believed to have told the meeting that if India has to provide relief to Sri Lankan Tamils, it should do so without antagonising the host country, sources said.

Kamal Nath said the meeting was ‘inconclusive’. He added that the meeting had been called to end the impasse in Parliament over the Lankan Tamil issue but “it has not produced any results”.

Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj questioned why all parties had been called for the meeting to discuss an issue which strictly is between the government and DMK. DMK, which withdrew from the government on Tuesday, had demanded that government should get a resolution passed by Parliament against Sri Lanka.

Swaraj said the government had told the Opposition that it wanted to hold the meeting to end the impasse in Parliament over Sri Lanka. “We had never created the impasse. The impasse is between government and DMK and it is for them to sit together and resolve it,” she said. CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said the issue was between the government and DMK to settle.”

    Parliament genocide!

How foolish helping ungrateful Endia!! Next time SL should stand with China.
