Sir:

Your story ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”IEDs: BIGGER, STRONGER, DEADLIER ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Expect more roadside bomb attacks: NATOƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, takes me back to midnight of July 23, 1983, when four IEDs, Bigger, Stronger and Deadlier were activated by the Tamil Tigers at the junction of Tinnaveli along Palaly and Jaffna Roads in north Sri Lanka which killed 13 soldiers on jeep patrol. This was the incident that triggered the July 25 riots in Colombo when their bodies were brought for burial.

Its fallout are now recorded in Canadian history which was when we opened our Canadian floodgates for 250,000 Tamil refugees who arrived from every safe nook and corner of Sri Lanka in search of greener pastures saying that they were discriminated and persecuted by the Sri Lankan Government, but only to return to their persecuting motherland in planeloads every year for their holidays having obtained their Canadian passports.

The application of the copycat well tested IED explosions and the suicide bombers which the Tamil Tigers perfected are what the Taliban terrorists are using reeking havoc along the roadsides of Afghanistan taking down our brave soldiers and journalists.

Notwithstanding that the vanity of the Western countries that was crushed for not agreeing on the demands for a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ceasefireƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ by this puny island nation who eliminated this ruthless Tamil Tiger terrorists single-handed who haemorrhaged Sri Lanka for 27 years, it is almost worth it for NATO forces to understudy the strategy of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s armed forces as to how they wiped out the Tamil Tigers so that they can apply the same against the Talibans.. After all, every western country, including Canada wanted Sri Lanka to give the warring Tamils their separate Eelam state as they believed that Sri Lanka was on a course of an unwinnable war.

LetƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s cut our western pride and save the lives of our brave soldiers and journalists who are travelling the Afghan roads to help Afghans to destroy the Taliban and help them to establish a sustainable democracy. Our misplaced pride will take us nowhere other than heartache when our brave men and women arrive back in caskets wrapped in Canada flags.
