THE OTTAWA CITIZEN

Sir:

“Up to 30,000 Tamil civilians were left severely disabled by Sri Lankan army shelling in the so-called ‘no-fire zone’, it is claimed on Sunday,” you reported, and all of Ottawa will be horrified by this alleged attacks by the Sri Lankan Army after reading this report this morning. Spin, spin, spin by the International media pointing their fingers at the Sri Lankan Armed Forces as if it were a one sided war is getting out of control, and I am getting dizzy.

It does seem that this 26-year brutal war between the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and the Tamil Tigers is over, which finally decimated the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”invincible’ Tamil Tigers and the guns have been silenced. And now the Sri Lankan Government has to pick up the next phase of this war, a battle between them and the International Media who have been on the attack against the Government of Sri Lanka and hell bent to destroy its image for the very reason that they have single handed destroyed the most ruthless terrorist group in the world, the Tamil Tigers. This is the only terrorist group that assassinated two Heads of State, 32 politicians, among them a Foreign Minister and three Mayors of Jaffna, and exploded 382 human bombs killing hundreds and maiming for life several thousands, almost all Sinhalese.

I am not certain how Dean Nelson of The DailyTelegraph had figured out that it were the Sri Lankan Army that shelled the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”no- fire zone’ and no bullets flew from the guns of its enemy during the last phase of the war when it has been reported that the Tamil Tigers were shooting mercilessly at their own Tamil people who were fleeing from their clutches having been held hostage as a human shield.

I have arrived at a point where I will be judicious and form my own opinion, as I have with Dean Nelson’s reports, when reading reports on Sri Lanka by foreign journalists as their biases are so transparent and hell bent to give the Sri Lankan Government a bad name, and nothing of the brutal Tamil Tigers.
