MR must learn from past mistakes

The excellent political analysis done by Mr. N.A.DE S. Amaratunga under the above titled , appeared in The Island dated 17 June 2018 (http://island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=186475) is an I opener to the people who can sense the perilous situation the country is in under the present Sirisena – Ranil regime.
Mr. Amarathunga, while analyzing positives and negatives of MR, concluded his analysis saying The country at this perilous moment in its history is fortunate to have a leader with Rajapaksa’s stature, proven ability, and patriotic love for the country, and courage to resist imperialist pressure and above, all people’s wide acceptance and love.”
In addition to the positives pointed out by the writer, in my view, there is a hidden reason for MR to be the most popular person/leader at present while the popularity of all his leading opponents are fading away rapidly.
MR never criticizes his political opponents, directly, the way his opponents do in public. He never insults his opponents in public the way his opponents do. His expressions, while addressing the public, do not give any sign of taking revenge while his opponents do the other way.
Although all most all his opponents call him hora”, we have not heard him calling even his main opponents (who are well known ‘horas’) as ‘horas”. One example cited by Mr Amarathunga is incidence of the parliamentarians of the government which robbed its own bank call him “Rajapaksa hora” while the prime minister, under whose watch the Central Bank functioned when it was robbed, asks in parliament “kavuda hora?”
In addition to the negatives pointed out by the writer, in my view, MR failed to recognize his true enemies who were active around him while in power.

The last regime of Mahinda was the most unpopular in Lankan history in terms of the reduction in popularity at national elections. Within just 56 months its popularity fell from 61% in April 2010 to 47% in January 2015. That’s a 14% drop from national election to national election. Obviously such a massive drop cannot be solely attributed to the lies propagated by the Sirisena camp (though it contributed). Hopefully the Rajapaksa clan will learn the lessons and correct them. Otherwise the nation will suffer most.

– This may be reason for personal popularity. But what is the point being popular, if the country has very bad reputation and corrupt ?
A leaders should be upright if the country is to progress. They should in fact criticize one another with facts than indirectly making allegations.

රාජ්‍ය ගිණුම් කාරක සභාවේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මාධ්‍යවේදීන් දැනුම්වත් කිරීම සඳහා බත්තරමුල්ල වෝටර්ස්ඒජ්හි අද(18) පැවති වැඩමුළුවක් අමතමින් විගණකාධිපතිවරයා මෙසේ පැවසීහ.

“Tamils of Indian origin live among Sinhalese people in the plantations area and they are a badly neglected lot, often exploited by politicians. They don’t have satisfactory housing facilities and live in line rooms which had been the situation during the British rule. ”
Above is from the said article appearing in the Island.
The writer must visit the villages around the Plantations.
These Plantation workers have house built in the tradition of workers houses in the British Isles.
These houses have all the necessary basic facilities.
Compare these houses to thatched houses of the poor Sinhalese who live in the villages who lost their land to these Indian Colonial Parasites.
These works get a weekly wage whether they work or not, all of their family have employment in the Estates.
There is a child minding center, an Apothecary to attend sick and a school.
During Chandrika’s time all Sinhalese workers in Plantations were kicked out.
This remind me of a Socialists meeting attended by a friend of mine few decades ago in a Western Country.
The speaker was to be a high ranking officer of a plantation workers union attending an ILO organized Seminar in another Indian Colony where they grew Sugar for Ceylon Tea. The said Union officer did not present the talk as my friend came to the meeting.
A local Socialist read out the paper and my friend stated what is stated above.
The meeting ended early and te Socialists left with few Indians disappointed.
All Tamils all over the world are of Indian origin. Most of the Indian Parasites in North are of Indian Origin.
These Parasites arrived in thousand since the they had a free ride on the back of the British.
Mr Amaratunga a good writer but he should look at the voting figures of 2015.
As I am saying always Sobitha divided the Sinhala vote with his Good Governance and Nanasara alienated Muslim and Christian votes from Mahinda and the Indian Parasite Block Vote did the job.
