Vijayakala decides to resign from post
Posted on July 5th, 2018

Vijayakala Maheswaran says that she has decided to resign from her post as the State Minster of Child Affairs, in the wake of her recent controversial statement regarding the LTTE.

Speaking during a state event held in Jaffna on June 2, she had said that the LTTE should be resurrected for the freedom of the Tamil people.

If Tamil people want to live freely, the LTTE should raise their hand again, she had reportedly said.

Several parties including sections of the United National Party (UNP) had demanded action against Maheswaran.

The Speaker has informed the Attorney General to investigate whether State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran’s controversial statement has violated the Constitution or any laws and to take necessary legal action.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had requested President Maithripala Sirisena to temporarily remove Vijayakala Maheswaran from her ministerial portfolio until inquiries are completed.

The PM had summoned Maheswaran yesterday (4) to inquire regarding the statement while she had reportedly decided to resign following the meeting.

She has in fact now RESIGNED! Resigning from her position as Minister of Child Welfare for advocating the resurrection of the LTTE that enslaved and abused hundreds of thousands of children is an ESSENTIAL NO BRAINER.

    But, that is NOT ENOUGH!

    1. She must RESIGN or be EXPELLED from her position as an MP in Parliament as well.

    2. She must be EXPELLED from the UNP for violating the party constitution, if the UNP wants to DISASSOCIATE itself from her TREASON.

    3. She must be ARRESTED, PROSECUTED, CONVICTED and IMPRISONED by the AG for advocating SEPARATISM (contravenes the Constitutional requirements applicable to ALL citizens) and TERRORISM (contravenes the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) against inciting terrorism).

    4. Finally, her CIVIC RIGHTS to VOTE, be ELECTED to public offices, engage in POLITICS etc etc must be REMOVED/CURTAILED and her PERSONAL PROPERTY should be seized!

She should be SEVERELY PUNISHED for her TREASON and serve as an EXAMPLE to ALL HER Tamil Collaborators who have engaged in such activities in the DISTANT and RECENT PAST!

The latter include: Vigneswaran, Sambandan, Sumanthiran, Sivajilingam …… ad infinitum, ad nauseam……..!

I agree that punishment for the crime must happen. Resigning from a ministerial post (the very minimum that must happen) is not a punishment for violation of the law.

However, if she is punished for the crimes she has done, it sets a fantastic judicial precedence under which some worse offenders including Karuna, Pillayan, KP, etc. will be prosecuted. And those who gave them refuge and protection will also be punished. For the record, they never received a presidential pardon because they were not found guilty in the first place.

I support the full implementation of the law against all these lowlifes. But not many share my view. They want selected implementation of the law which cannot be done on such high crimes. It’s all or nothing. Unfortunately, the nothing option will be chosen.

Bedsides being the mouth piece of some powers, she is also trying hard to become popular. GOSL should set an example to those clamouring for separation by getting her out of parliament. I think the party can do it by expelling her which will automatically disqualify her as an MP.
She and the other northern leaders are doing a great disservice to the tamil people. They do not want their people to live peacefully in the rest of the country. Many youths from the North are working in construction sites in Colombo. I see many of them walking on city roads after work. I find some of them very decent and kind hearted people. When I was driving along Horton Place yesterday evening a group of them were returning to their place of residence after work. Those boys passed an old beggar woman by the side of the road. Then they turned back and came up to her and gave money. Today in the morning, I saw two young guys in our lane. When I asked them what they are doing they said they want to do things like sharpening knives etc. and from the way they spoke I thought they were Sinhalese. They looked tired and hungry and asked if there is any food. After giving food and work I asked them from where they are. I found out that they are tamils from Chillow area. Why can’t the government have a training program and give them the skills needed for them to work in construction sites instead of bringing in Indians, Bangladeshis and Chines and provide them with employment. They should also include the Sinhalese who live in abject poverty without proper roads, drinking water and health facilities, from distant areas and find places for them in the city. Day in and day out I see the hopeless living conditions many of them are in and the constant elephant attacks they are having on TV channels such as News First, Derana and Hiru. That will also prevent Colombo becoming an exclusive minority zone.

Over to you, the Minister of National Planning.
