STRONG MESSAGE WHICH SHOULD BE HEARD BY ALL MUSLIMS IN SRI LANKA. MUSLIMS SHOULD UNITE TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE.

By Noor Nizam – Peace and Political Activist, Political Communication Researcher, SLFP Stalwart and Convener – The Muslim Voice,

THIS IS WHY “THE MUSLIM VOICE” IS PRAYING SINCE JUNE 2014, THAT IT IS TIME UP A NEW POLITICAL FORCE THAT WILL BE HONEST AND SINCERE THAT WILL PRODUCE ‘CLEAN’, HONEST AND DILIGENT MUSLIM POLITICIANS FREE FROM ANY FORM OF CORRUPTION, WHO COULD STAND UP TO DEFEND THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY POLITICALLY AND OTHERWISE, ESPECIALLY FROM AMONG THE YOUTH/YOUNGER GENERATION HAS TO EMERGE FROM WITHIN THE SRI LANKA MUSLIM COMMUNITY TO FACE ANY NEW ELECTIONS IN THE COMING FUTURE, INSHA ALLAH.

Let Muslims who are WISE and who REALLY CARE ABOUT THE MUSLIM UMMAH AND THEIR FUTURE GENERATIONS SHOULD UNITE TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE. The MUSLIMS SHOULD NOT recognize the present MUSLIM PARTY LEADERS AND POLITICIANS who have been causing more and more harm than good to the Sri Lanka Muslim Community.

Muslims who REALLY CARE ABOUT THE MUSLIM UMMAH AND THEIR FUTURE GENERATIONS should also come forward INDEPENDENTLY, form INDEPENDENT GROUPS as the “NEW POLITICAL FORCE” and contest all elections in the future, Insha Allah. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS SHOULD ALSO BE DELIBERATED. IT IS TIME UP THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY GET PREPARED FOR THESE CHALLENGES, INSHA ALLAH.

Extremist Attitudes and Actions of Muslims
The foundation of our nation, its societal norms and values originates from the Sinhala Buddhist heritage. Whether we choose to live as Muslim, Malay, Sinhala, Tamil, or Burger, or as Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists or atheists, our right to do so is derived from this heritage and associated way of life where religious pluralism has been an essential element. In spite of attempts by European colonial powers for over four hundred years, to undermine the nation’s indigenous culture, and other challenges faced during the decades of Tamil terrorism in the country, the fundamental elements of our national culture prevailed. That gave our nation its distinct identity and character.

In recent years, it is clearly noticeable from their attitude and actions, that the Muslim community in our country has posed a threat to our national culture and way of life.
The discord and conflicts between the mainstream and the minorities in recent decades, can be largely attributed to the extremist and parochial attitudes of the minorities. These undesirable developments were the outcome of racists and extremist views of these minorities with short-sighted and misguided leaders having their own hidden agendas for their own benefit. However, the attempts of the racist Tamil terrorists to undermine this nation led to their “digging their own graves”. This should be a lesson to all others who have similar ideas of undermining the Sinhala Buddhist nation.

Most Muslims do not appear to be interested in integrating with other communities, perhaps because assimilation is not permitted under Islamic Shariah law. The rules of Islam govern politics, marriage and the day-to-day lives of its followers. In fact, Islam is a political ideology where the church and state are not separate. Under the circumstances, one cannot expect Muslims to develop a sense of patriotism and national pride in a predominantly non-Muslim country such as ours.

The fundamentals of ‘Islam’ that are widely propagated in Madrasas have serious negative implications as far as the national culture is concerned. The younger generation of Muslims are being brainwashed with these extremist Islamic beliefs and practices in the exclusively Muslim schools known as madrasas, that have sprung up in the country in recent years. Their attire has changed and reflects their inclination to be exclusive and separate from the nation’s mainstream. This separation of the Islamic community is self-imposed and is not because they feel marginalized but because Islam’s teachings say that non-Muslims are inferior to Muslims. To closely associate non-Muslims is forbidden or ‘haram’ according to the Koran. Islam has dualistic ethics with one rule for Muslims and one rule for non-believers who form the majority of Sri Lankans. There is no exception to this rule.
As a nation with a historic cultural tradition that extends to over 2200 years, where freedom, compassion, tolerance and accommodation of people of all faiths and ethnicities have been the founding principles, it is necessary that we as a nation take necessary steps to protect and preserve these noble and wholesome cultural traditions. We cannot allow them to be undermined under any circumstances. This is the underlying objective of the wholesome Sinhala Buddhist organizations and campaigns of recent times, especially with the initiative of our Sangha community and our Sinhala youth, in particular the Bodu Bala Sena, Hela Bodhu Handa, ‘Ravana Balaya”, “Mahason Balakaaya” etc., which are capable of confronting and containing whatever challenges posed by extremist Muslim elements. The legitimate and patriotic nationwide action-programmes of these movements are focused on protecting the sovereignty and integrity of this ‘Dharmadeepaya’ and promoting the wholesome Buddhist norms and values which form the basis of this Sinhala Buddhist nation.

Sri Lankan Muslims, especially young males found easy employment in Saudi Arabia during the past few decades. Some were awarded scholarships by Saudi universities. Those who completed their studies returned to Sri Lanka and started to propagate the ideology of Wahhabism. In pursuit of their mission to expand their sphere of influence among Sufi Muslims and others, these Wahhabis resorted to violence and intimidation culminating in death and destruction.

Most Muslim problems in the country at present appear to stem from foreign, particularly Saudi Arabian funding for fundamentalist groups. Also, the young Muslims who have been exposed to Saudi Islamic religious norms and who are being indoctrinated in madrasas and universities in Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and reading Wahhabi texts which are opposed to traditional practices such as those of Sufi Muslims. What is wrong with this trend is the approach adopted by these extremist groups to propagate and promote their ideology, thinking and practices among the traditional Sufi Muslims of Sri Lanka.

Their approach is unacceptable because it is causing disharmony and violence within the Muslim community. They should be aware of the fact that they are living in a non-Muslim country where Sinhala Buddhists form the mainstream dominant community. The approach to change by the extremist Muslim groups are not compatible with the social values of the country.

    Harmonious Community Relationships threatened
The traditional Sufi Islam practiced by Muslims in Sri Lanka for centuries, and related lifestyle of Muslims facilitated harmonious relationships with other religions and communities in the country. Maintaining such relationships was necessary for most Muslims who were businessmen dealing with a market consisting mostly of non-Muslims. Owing to their living among Buddhists most Muslims were inevitably influenced by, and learnt to respect the social values of Sinhala Buddhists marked by tolerance and non-violence in particular.

It is unlikely that the more fundamentalist Muslim groups and related extremist attitudes and practices that appear to be emerging will help Sri Lankan Muslims to coexist successfully with the island’s other religions, as before. In fact the Wahhabis do not seem to be able to coexist peacefully with their own Muslim brothers.

It is necessary that all communities living in this country develop respect towards the social values and norms of other communities inhabiting this land and not pursue policies and activities that would jeopardize the quality of life and stability of our nation.

  3. Christie Says:

Our culture goes more than the Buddhism. hat is why and how Buddhism survived in our country because of our culture before that.

What happened to Buddhism in India? Today Buddhist in India; are Dalits or Chandals like us for the Indian Colonial Parasites.

Our problem is not Muslims but India and Indian Colonial Parasites,

  4. Ancient Sinhalaya Says:

Problem we facing is mussie are too united to get their ultimate goal. Make Sri Lanka join old Buddhist countries
iran, afganisthan, pakesthan, bangladesh, malaysia and indonesia. Not a single mussie (apart from muzammil)
came forward to condemn the suicide bombers and then all mussie ministers resigned from government en masse.
That shows unity to any honest person!

The dirty, disgusting, subhuman trick of multiply, outnumber and murder the native trick worked in the olden
days since people didn’t know until the mussies turned up on their doorsteps to murder them, In this tv, phone,
internet age it’s only going to end up in bloodbath since people going to know and fight back to save their
countries. If you don’t like to live in somebody’s country, then the only option is leave without planning to take
over the country by killing millions of them. Do they care at all? Not a shred of evidence to show in support.

    It’s not just mass multiplication,
    land grabbing,
    towns over running,
eye sore sword stores/ammmunition dumps/bomb factories every street corner (in fact more than Buddhist
temples in the whole country) to murder millions of Sinhalese in one night,
drug business to poison our youth,
sterilising Sinhalese mums by mussie docs (of course after using our FREE education),
sterile agents in food for Sinhalese, sterile agents sprayed in women’s underwear for Sinhalese women/girls,
marrying Sinhalese girls to convert them,
importing more mass breeders from afganistthan, pakesthan etc. etc. as if we don’t have enough already here,
destroying our wildlife sanctuaries to settle down new breeds,
mussie only schools to hide real numbers and promote segregation,
mussie only parties to somersault after the elections to be in any government of the day then land powerful
ministries and pay back the mussies by aiding and abetting all those activities mentioned before,
halal, burka, goni billa dress (high fashion in hell, very popular among ghosts),
    sharia law,
and finally finally terrorism to murder Sinhalese and tamils and take full control.

Can anyone think any other treacherous act by any two legged creature? These are humans or huanimals? Still
talking about unity. None of them came forward to say we are so sorry, we will behave from now on and be
proper members of the society and limit our baby production, putting up eye sore bomb factories, give up
halal, burka, sharia etc. etc and be Sri Lankan and live in the 21st century. Like the Chinese community has been living in Sri Lanka. Numbers never go up since union of two produce 1 or two children. Mussies? It will be 1-10 to take control and destroy communal harmony.

Buddhism’s Five Precepts which is the basis for all the law courts under the sun and these people trying to
destroy the only true religion in the world. Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, NASA’s missions to show the earth’s
size, size of the universe etc. etc should be enough for any honest person to understand what a true religion
should be. People used to worship trees, mountains, rivers, gods in the olden days in the absence of science.
Today, in this scientific era, religions have to pass the science test to be accepted as true. Science explains why
the planets are round and why they orbit. Anyone in doubt Google to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune etc. etc. After all this is 21st century, not year 0000 or 600.
