How many in EU know that funding given by EU for the welfare of South Africa and South Africans is being spent on a witch hunt against a sovereign state.

Yasmin Sooka is an employee of the European Union since 2001. She is Executive Director of the Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa. EU set up this entity in 1996 through a cooperation agreement between the European Union & South African Government. The Foundation is funded by EU & Belgium and funding also comes from Ireland CARE, UN bodies & even the American Foundation. EU channels a portion of its development assistance to civil society organizations in South Africa. But this money is to be spent for South Africa not against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry must take this up with the EU immediately & seek explanation from EU.

The Board of Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa are all South African.

The Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa website does not feature anything about International Truth & Justice Project-Sri Lanka as one of its projects. https://www.fhr.org.za/index.php/projects/

But the International Truth & Justice Project-Sri Lanka website under ‘ABOUT US” http://www.itjpsl.com claims  

The International Truth and Justice Project  – Sri Lanka (ITJP) is administered by the Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa under the guidance of transitional justice expert Yasmin Sooka”

Why is EU & international donor funding meant to be for South Africa being spent on a project against another country unrelated to South Africa?

Is the EU aware that Sooka is running a project called ITJP-SL using funding by EU against Sri Lanka?

Is Sooka utilizing the time and money paid for by EU & international donors towards FfHR being spent on ITJP-SL project? She is eternally churning reports against Sri Lanka.

Shouldn’t EU investigate? Is the EU aware that she is also taking funds from the British Foreign Office which funded ITJP-SL 2014 report which presented 40 cases majority of which were former LTTE illegal combatants seeking asylum. These names must be compared with the missing/dead list of names.

She is also on the Advisory Council of the Sri Lanka Campaign for Peace & Justice.

The coterie of characters appearing against Sri Lanka under various names can be easily connected. ITJP-SL / SLCPJ / CPA – the names are virtually all the same.

The question posed to EU is why it is allowing or simply watching Sooka utilize funding meant for South Africa against Sri Lanka using the banner of Foundation for Human Rights South Africa?

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry must take this up with EU Sri Lanka or Europe itself.
