Sri Lanka registers 1,914 new COVID cases within the day

The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry reports that another 817 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, moving the daily total of new cases to 1,914.

According to the Government Information Department, 1,889 of the new cases reported today are associated with the New Year coronavirus cluster. Meanwhile, the remaining 25 were identified as arrivals from foreign countries.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in the country to 121,338.

As many as 101,763 recoveries and 764 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Epidemiology Unit’s data showed that 18,811 active cases are currently under medical care.
