Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa can seek forgiveness from the public for not taking actions against the wrongdoers who have partially destroyed what Mahinda Rajapaksa has achieved and what any other leaders could not dream about. Some UFPA voters have been washed away by the media. Seeking forgiveness is not a bad thing. Former Indian Prime Minister Indra Ghandi had done it village to village once.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been badly painted among Tamils even though their inner heart beats every second with gratitude for him. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa can declare that he would appoint a popular Tamil as a deputy Prime Minister.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa needs to create a situation in which opposition voters can turn their head to listen to him. The motherland is at the crossroad. Hope that righteousness will prevail.

RAJANRAM B !!! Seeking Forgiveness from whom ? You say from the PUBLIC. Yes, now you are talking straight. Why don’t you ask Sampanthan to seek forgiveness from the SINHALESE for their complicity in ethnically cleansing the 25,000 Sinhalese from the North. Why don’t you ask Vigneswaran to seek forgiveness, for not allowing the Sinhalese to come back to the North, and ask him to do it right now. Ask Vigneswaran, why he is spreading lies that TAMIL GENOCIDE is continuing, and tell him to seek forgiveness. Damning humbugs. So are you asking Maithriepala or Mahinda to go village to village seeking Forgiveness for what.?? What do you want either of these two gentlemen to convince the Tamils of what ? Poor Sinhalese villagers are without homes, without roads, without bridges, without three meals for a day.

Forgiveness is DUE TO THE VICTIMIZED Sinhala people, not to the Tamil PERPETRATORS of HORRIFIC atrocities who earned all they received in legitimate defence from their victims!
As Dr. Sashi Tharoor said elsewhere on the subject of Colonial Reparations, the BURGLAR who stubbed his toe while plundering the house is NOT ENTITLED to APOLOGIES or FORGIVENESS!
NEITHER are the Tamil people who launched a terrorist war over 3 decades killing, maiming and torturing hundreds of thousands of INNOCENTS in Sri Lanka in the COMMUNAL QUEST to carve out a MONO-ETHNIC APARTHIED State of Tamil Eelam EXCLUSIVELY unto themselves. They are NOT ENTITLED either to apologies or to forgiveness!
That kind of “ABJECT RECONCILIATION” should be REJECTED totally, just as it was REJECTED & DENIED by the Victorious Allied Powers in WWII to the MASS MURDERERS of Hitler’s Nazi Regime to the present day!

MAHINDA MUST DECLARE THAT HE WOULD RE-HABILITATE ALL THE 25,000 SINHALESE WHO WERE ETHNICALLY CLEANSED FROM THE NORTH, BACK INTO THEIR OWN LANDS. THIS HAS TO BE A SOLEMN ELECTION PLEDGE. Not to appoint a Tamil as Deputy Prime Minister. I cant help but passing loud flatus from the exit of my alimentary canal, at the very suggestion.
THE TAMILS MUST SEEK FORGIVENESS FROM THE 100,000 MUSLIMS THEY ETHNICALLY CLEANSED FROM THE NORTH IN 48 HOURS, PLUNDERING ALL THEIR GOLD JEWELLERY, VALUABLES, AND THEIR LANDS. Vigneswaran must convince the Tamils, to act like Human Beings, and not like animals. The Tamils must seek Forgiveness from the Little Sinhalese and Muslim Children whose lives were put to enormous risk, when they too were ethnically cleansed, by virtually abusing them and being brutal to them to leave, disturbing their entire little mind set. The Tamils talk of Righteousness when they did not have any sympathy for little children. Where were their Hearts ? Did they have any ?
Don’t the Tamils have a conscience ? NO, they don’t have, they never ever had.
I REPEAT, MAHINDA must declare that he would Re-habilitate all the 25,000 Sinhalese, and 100,000 Muslims back in the North, in their Lands that they were forced to leave behind, virtually plundered, with NO compensation from the Tamils.

Now that we have peace in the country since 2009 thanks to our past President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese in Sri Lanka must learn to integrate themselves into the Sri Lankan society and live as true Sri Lankans, rather than pulling apart the fabric of Sri Lankan society at its edges and tearing it into separate conclaves. That is the only way for us all to live as brothers and sisters of the same mother Lanka.
A question every Sri Lankan should ask himself/herself is “What have I done for Sri Lanka to call myself a Sri Lankan?”

I agree with Susantha and Ananda. Tamils must seek forgiveness from Sinhala and Muslim people, and, Indian people for the horrendous crimes against humanity done by Tamils.
There is nothing Mahinda, Sinhala people, Sinhala politicians and security forces have done to seek forgiveness from Tamils or anyone else. All acts committed by security forces and police from 1975 to 2009 against Tamil elements are legal and moral. All exceptions have been handled. All laws passed by parliament since 1948 including ones Tamils have a problem with are legal, moral and valid.
Unlike conventional warfare, in terrorism there are 3 parties. Terrorists who actually carryout acts of terror, extremist politicians who make use of the terror created to extort political demands and relatively moderate politicians who condemn violence but also make use of terror in their extortion racket. The last category is specific to terrorism and therefore most dangerous.
Almost all Tamils rejected Mahinda and UPFA at 2004, 2005 and 2010 (two) elections but that didn’t prevent him scoring clear victories. In fact rejecting Tamil extortions and standing firm with those who love the nation as it is brings Mahinda more votes from the voters that matter to him. His defeat in January is due to wasting 90% of development funds in the north and east where only 8% of his voters reside (92% residing elsewhere).

Great stuff Susantha. These Tamil hypocrits should know very well about the Sinhalese and how they treated them all these years and during the war. They must seek forgiveness from us not us from them. Shouldn’t pity these Gobbels.They are very ungrateful lot. We were blaming Mahinda those days when he was spending more and more money to the North continuously even during the war and that’s how they repay him bloody Tamils. Should not trust Tamils or Muslim for a dime. If Tamils are good and straight forward they should take decisions on their own without listening to their leaders who has separate agendas to break our land. They should not follow them instead chose between right and wrong,Good and Bad. If they love their Motherland they should think as Sri Lankan not as a Tamil or Indian.
Asshole Ranil will promise anything to be in power.We have seen him 29 times promising Bracelets,Chewing Gum,Tabs,Wi Fi and many more but nothing was given at last.He is a bullshitter and a pretender whom we cannot believe to give anything except empty bag of promises.

Ranjanram, Mahinda does not have to seek forgive ness from any one. People have forgiven him even before he admited he made mistakes. We have got what we need from him and that is a solmn promise that he will NOT repeat those mistakes.
That’s more than enough for me and I’m sure it is the same for most the people of this country. You know why? We are indebted to him for all he has done for this country Some errors in judgement on his part, no big deal, after all plates are broken only by those who wash them.
