Sirisena gives Sobhita Thera a Dhamma lesson
Posted on September 8th, 2015

Ajit Randeniya

The country’s new maladministration typified by its farcical cabinet and other appointments has already become the butt of many a joke about its cynical deception of the public. Grand sounding slogans about Yahapalanaya and reconciliation together with clearly disingenuous promises about jobs creation and future prosperity have become meaningless drivel save their comical value. The palpable dissatisfaction of the general public, extending to serious concern on the defence front, is often expressed as disbelief of the deceptive behaviour of Maithripala Sirisena.

Sirisena’s misdeeds are matched by his partners-in-crimes (of January 8 and August 17), the ‘venom-pot queen’ Kumaratunga and the new prime minister who seems to be desperately trying to prove that he has suddenly found his backbone that has been missing for the last decade and a half!

The symbiosis between a character-less weakling Sirisena driven by crazy ambition – unmatched by ability – and vengeance, and the equally venomous Kumaratunga is likely to bring disaster to the country if this double-act is allowed to operate unabated for even a short period of time.

Kumaratunga in particular, appears to have decided to avenge the outright rejection of her by the people of Attanagalla and the nation as a whole, by setting herself an agenda of reversing the hard-won security gains in the North. It is unclear as to how she is going to achieve her aims; Judging by her role as Sirisena’s puppeteer so far, she may be expecting to use government resources, or may well have to form a fat INGO funded by her friends at MI6 and the CIA. But the rotten Horagolla woman she is, she will stop at nothing to avenge her lack of acceptance by the Sri Lankan people.

The prime minister in the meantime is attempting a bad caricature of the ‘worm that turned’! His ‘monkey’ remark at the first debate in parliament – in a freshly-pressed dark suite he seemed to have changed in to the minute the voting ended – shows the complete colonisation of his head by the colonial forces: one of the first ‘duties’ performed by him as prime minister involved stopping the renovation of colonial buildings in Colombo! Obviously he cherishes the memory of colonialism so much that he seems to be unable to accept the removal of the tokens of the darkest period of the history of the nation.

Ranil Wickremesinghe is a pathological case with a deeply internalised veneration for the colonial oppression of the local population. His obvious penchant for worshipping the imperialists – almost placing the body in a submissively prone prostrate position – is suggestive of a sadomasochistic psychological tendency that goes beyond the obvious ancestral gains made through subservience to colonial masters; His paternal grandfather for example, was the first ‘native’ to be appointed to the colonial civil service (CCS) and his uncle was the head of the local diocese of the so-called Church of England; But many people in the colonised world with such links to colonisers have turned anti-colonial and fought for independence.  Not this man! His total and obviously unconditional surrender to imperialists appears to be based on a pathological disposition towards them that goes far beyond the levels called-for by such influences.

Ranil Wickremesinghe’s subservience to imperialists is obviously and seriously affecting his ability to think or act like a 21st century Sri Lankan and the matter needs to be addressed sooner rather than later – before he drags us all back in to the colonial era.

Then we come to the hopper-thief himself: his cynical ways of operating are clearly proving to be substitutes for lack of management ability and confidence. He is clearly adopting the path Ranil Wickremesinghe used to stay leader of the UNP while losing election-after-election, by stacking the UNP’s executive committee. Sirisena in his dirty tricks-based campaign to wrestle the control of the SLFP has used the same modus-operandi of stacking the SLFP’s central committee and secretary positions.

Sirisena started his dirty manoeuvres in stealing the control of the SLFP by appointing the lead conspirator behind the January 8 conspiracy, Faisar Mustapha his ‘legal advisor’. All the dirty special announcements he made leading up to the August 17 elections were the evil brain-children of Mustapha and the Islamic fringe now calling the shots.

Sirisena’s worst economic crime will prove to be his disgraceful attempt to bribe anyone he suspected of being a Rajapakse loyalist with a ministerial post. The rogues including those who were ‘nominated’ by him through the national list and other non-deserving cases will be a blight on the national economy for years to come.

Sirisena’s lack of concern for the burden he is placing on the haplessly poor Sri Lankans in the form of politically corrupt ‘ministers’ earning ‘mega-bucks’ with access to fleets of vehicles and armies of staff tells of the man’s shamefully selfish desire to consolidate his own position without any concerns at all about the plight of the poor of the country. The nation is clearly finding the ‘performance’ so far, of the Sirisena-venom pot-Ranil trio disgusting.

There are others who should be held responsible for bringing this disaster upon the country. Among the top such individuals would be the Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhita Thera. In his naïve political mind, he seemed to have assumed that the country’s ‘politics’ could be ‘cleansed’ by simply re-writing the constitution; He screamed that  Mahinda Rajapakse was corrupt and in his political ignorance, campaigned for the new clique who promised a new constitution and abolishing the presidency. Sobhita, though not backed by a significant national movement, had his wish of removing Rajapakse fulfilled by the new clique aided by minorities with vested interests.

Now it seems, Rev. Sobhita is making noises of dissatisfaction about the new government’s direction including the appointment of the mega cabinet and worthlessness of largely cosmetic changes to the constitution introduced through the S19 amendments.

Rev. Sobhita Thero could count himself lucky if he learnt the DHAMMA that insincere and corrupt behaviour of politicians like Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremasinghe could not be corrected through constitutional amendments; All constitutions are implemented and operated by human beings and people like Sirisena are the worst among us.

The current situation proves that monks should best stay out of politics because they have not had experience in the mundane affair of politics. They should stay pursuing the path to salvation through renouncement of such worldly pursuits. Now is the time for Rev. Sobhita to renounce politics and limit his activities to the Naga Vihara, without venturing beyond its boundaries. He has brought enough disaster to the country through his raucous campaign for this clique of rogues.

LORENZO the EELAMIST is shedding CROCODILE TEARS here!

He helped to OUST President Mahinda Rajaaksa who reunified our Nation and DEVELOPED it as NEVER BEFORE, making lists of FAKE ALLEGATIONS of CORRUPTION and touting Somarama Sirissena’s CANDIDACY!

Did Facebook LORENZO think that Somarama Sirisena and the UNP, riding to the Presidency and Parliamentary Power on the backs of Anti-National Minorities would REPEAL the 13th Amendment!

HOGWASH! This is MORE of his treacherous style to hide his recent TREACHERY by capturing the Patriotic Flag and running at the front of the Patriots, only to sidestep and lead them over the CLIFF at the LAST Moment!

Yes, the 13th Amendment should be REPEALED, but that will NOT HAPPEN under the Yamapalanaya GoSL. Facebook LORENZO did EVERYTHING he could to OUST our Patriotic President MR and the UPFA GoSL, now he is pointig to the 13A as if that would be REPEALED by the Yamapalanaya JUNTA he supported. Bloody HYPOCRITE INCARNATE!

INSTEAD, if the Yammapalanaya GoSL SURVIVES to FULL TERM, the 13A will be STRENGTHENED and IMPLEMENTED to GIVE the SEPARATISTS MORE THAN EVERYTHING they DEMAND NOW, EVERYTHING they could not get by waging 30 years of MURDEROUS terrorism.

PATRIOTS! Do not TRUST ANYTHING this DEVIOUS EELAMIST AGITATOR Facebook LORENZO, and his team of AVATARS, says or does; he is ONLY DIGGING our GRAVE to the best of his ability.

The country is in a serious political situation with the Constitution being treated as non-existent by President Sirisena who has set himself new Rules, or rather that he could act as though there is NO CONSTITUTION and NO CONSTITUTIONAL RULES, so he could make up whatever rules he wishes in order to take over power, but which were never granted him by Parliament which represents the citizenry via the Constitution.
There are Constitutional clauses that cannot be simply considered non-existent.
The legal route to challenge what is going on is available. What is stopping this being done? I for one cannot understand why there aren’t a host of law suits challenging the President’s actions that would make the the whole election null and void. Are there no lawyers willing to take this on? What has happened to the ‘spine’ of the Sinhala people? Ven. Sobitha complaining and wringing his hands on being taken for a ride in his interview with The Nation is not a sufficient a response. Surely there are Sinhala lawyers with the guts to take on this trampling of the Constitution?
Oh! to have HL de Silva and SL Gunesekera alive to take this on!

Sobitha cannot just wash his hands off and wear a sarong instead of the yellow robe. He must confess to his crime and rally the masses he mislead against this venomous joke of a government that he helped to install. He need to inform the country the value of our great leader Mahinda Rajapakse and the enormous tasks he completed. Country got to start from where MR left.

  11. NAK Says:

There are many to be blamed for the peril that this country is put in, including the leaders like Ven.Sobitha(not sure though how Ven.he is). But the blame should go directly to our populace, who are constantly praised for being an educated one, they may be educated but sadly not knowledgeable. Had they just used common sense to know what was happening in the out side world things would have been different. The Sinhala media, print and electronic pay very little attention to world news and events that take place that have direct relevence to us.
Our people too are quite eager exhibit how educated they are but does not seem to realise how dangerous little knowledgs is. The results of the last two elections are nothing but results of such little knowledgs where they were unable to distinguish between the truth and the lie. The lie was obvious if one cared to look at it logically but sadly majority of our people failed to do so.
Finally, I don’t for a minute believe that Ven.Sobitha did what he did because he believed that Srisena/Ranil would do better than MR. He is not that naive. He must have had some other arrangement with Mitchelle Sisson the former US envoy, but unable to put my finger on just what it is yet.

  12. Fran Diaz Says:

Let us go to the HEART OF THE PROBLEM – the so called National Question :

The TAMIL LANGUAGE ACT of 1958 displeased some Buddhist clergy, and therefore that SWRD was killed. Let us bear in mind it that the main accused were Somarama and Buddharakhitha. They were supposed to be Buddhist priests. They both converted to Christianity (I presume for “forgiveness of sins”) before death, one through death penalty and other of natural causes later.

The ramifications from the TLA of 1958 are enormous, destabilising Sri Lanka on an ongoing basis. Some 15 Million Tamils of Dalit origin in Tamil Nadu see Lanka as a ready made country, it seems. And the Tamils of Lanka also see Tamil Eelam via a Federal State for Tamils too.

I think it is high time Sri Lanka stopped trying to solve the 3,000 yr old Tamil Dalit Caste problem coming from Tamil Nadu. It is bringing down the country and is an impossible goal that not even the Buddha could resolve.

The 100 Smart Cities promised by PM Modi in India could probably resolve the Caste problem amicably for Tamil Nadu and rest of India. The west and the rest of the world can participate in the Development aspect of the 100 Smart Cities. Same actions in Lanka will probably save Lanka too.

  13. SA Kumar Says:

    Fran Diaz

Some 15 Million Tamils of Dalit origin in Tamil Nadu see Lanka as a ready made country, it seems- Where did get this figure?

is an impossible goal that not even the Buddha could resolve- Agreed, Castle / Dalit system related to Hindu religion as long as Hindu’s ( Hindustan/ India) in this world this system won’t disappear.

Tamils of Lanka also see Tamil Eelam via a Federal State for Tamils – 13A & 6A – united Mother Lanka ( When to We-Hela Demila go for UD of TE that is different matter)

Please let more any more details( seriously not joking mate) if any ACT call The TAMIL LANGUAGE ACT of 1958 exist in Mother Lanka ?

  16. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

    What is this then :

    Wikipedia
Sri Lankan Tamils …. On 3 September 1958 the Tamil Language (Special Provisions) Act – which provided for the use of the Tamil language as a medium of … etc.
This Act was done during SWRD govt times, when Tamil leaders protested about the Sinhala Language Act of 1956.

Come now, don’t let the truth of matters upset you. Face facts and then find solutions.

  17. Fran Diaz Says:

More on the TL Act of 1958 :

Tamil Language (Special Provisions) Act (No. 28 of 1958)

    TABLE OF PROVISIONS

    Long Title

    1. Short title
    2. Tamil language as a medium of instruction. {Cap. 185.}
    3. Tamil language as a medium of examination for admission to the Public Service
    4. Use of the Tamil language for correspondence
    5. Use of the Tamil language for prescribed administrative purposes in the Northern and Eastern Provinces
    6. Regulations
    7. This Act to be subject to measures adopted or to be adopted under the proviso to section 2 of Act No. 33 of 1956
    8. Interpretation

  18. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,
Since you have challenged the figures, here’s more on Tamil Nadu and Tamil Dalit population –

Total population of Tamil Nadu : 72 Million
Number of Tamil folk of Dalit origin : 21%

So the actual number of Tamil folk of Dalit origin : 15 Million

Therefore, sorry to say that there will be NO united Mother Lanka under the 13-A. Even less of it with the Federal state for Tamils only as required by the TNA.

    ———-

The Buddha said : A person is high born or low born ONLY by his or her actions.

  19. SA Kumar Says:

Number of Tamil folk of Dalit origin : 21%-Sorry Mr Diaz I am not challenging % of low caste in TN , My question is where you got the data those 21% want to came to Mother Lanka ???

Tamil Language (Special Provisions) Act (No. 28 of 1958) -so Tamil was used Last king of Mother Lanka in his administration & since 1958 not from 1987 Indo-Lanka (13A)

Federal state for Tamils only as required by the TNA.- Sorry Wrong , no one ask Tamils only state.

  22. aravinda Says:

In my book, Joseph de Maistre was not good man. He lived 250 years ago in France and was known as a counter-revolutionary, dogmatic Catholic and the most famous critic of French Revolution. Yet, he was famous for his quotes, two of which would clearly demonstrate Sri Lankan predicament.

QUOTE 1. ” Every nation gets the government it deserves.”

Sri Lankans are ungrateful people. In our history, when all seems lost, nine leaders have united our Island. Mahinda was the last. Sri Lankans have voted him out not once, but twice, paving way for this notorious bunch to gain power. Sri Lanka will get what it deserves. A Lebanon, a Syria, a Libya or a Sudan. A Kosovo, a Timor, a Yemen or a Cypress. We will get what we deserve.

QUOTE 2. “False opinions are like false money, struck first of all by guilty men and thereafter circulated by honest people who perpetuate the crime without knowing what they are doing.”

False opinions were planted about Mahinda. People believed it. Even the honest and the educated believed it. Now we find all those accusations are baseless. But it is too late now. Our nation will suffer dearly for this.

But we, those of whom love this nation, those of us who wish Sri Lanka well, have hope from another quote from Joseph de Maistre. That quote is,

QUOTE 3. “To know how to wait is the great secret of success.”

  23. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

I don’t particularly want to quibble with you, but …..

    (a) Judging by the numbers of Tamil Dalit migrants into Lanka from the time of the colonists and later after Independence in 1948, as ILLEGAL migrants, we can justifiably assume that hoards more Tamils are waiting to cross the Palk Sts into Lanka where caste can be lost as things are now. However, we have to warn you that Caste will be re-imposed on all Tamils in any Tamil separate state.

    (b) Sri Wickrema Rajasingha, the Last King of Kandy was a replacement for King Rajasingha II (Donna Catharina’s son). King Rajasingha II was not a true Sinhala/Buddhist King – he did not have the welfare of the Sassana or the Buddhists in his way of governance. He had a Tamil mistress in the Peradeniya area. This Tamil courtesan was shared by Chief Adigar Pilimatalawe as well the King. Her son called Pilimatalawe ‘Aththa’. When King Rajasingha died in a riding ‘accident’, Pilimatalawe produced this boy child as the King’s son, and placed him on the Throne of Kandy, under his supervision. When the boy king grew up, he had differences of opinion with his ‘Aththa’. He also signed his name in Tamil, after his mother, the only true parent he knew. He probably was more comfortable with his mothers’s native Tamil language, and used it often. I believe the Temple of the Tooth must have been inspired by Pilimatallawe, who was Buddhist, though credit is given to the boy king. That is how the Tamil-ness & the Tamil language crept into the rule of the Last King of Kandy. The last King of Kandy did not win favor with his Adigars.
Read book “Sri Wickrema Rajasingha – the Last King of Kandy” by P. Dolpihilla. Opinions above are mine, formed from facts in the book.

The Tamil Language is used as a sort of Weapon by the present Tamil Leaders of Lanka. Language is used to protect the different sub-states of India. So should Lanka.

    (c) Why have a Tamil Federal state if it is for others too ? You-Tamils chased out some 27,000 Sinhala and Muslim folk from the North as well as the East. Who can trust Tamil leaders now – it’s the same players too.
Any Fed state will have only the Tamil language (rule through Language) and no one else wants that. If it is not Tamil only rule, then why all the fuss and fight for Separatism ?

If something smells of skunk, looks like skunk and acts like skunk, we have to assume it is skunk.

Question : How to mend broken Trust ? There has to be Give from the Tamil Leaders quarters, and not all Take.

  24. SA Kumar Says:

    1) we have to warn you that Caste will be re-imposed on all Tamils in any Tamil separate state- Yes agreed , CM Vigge /Hon Sampanthan are so call Vellar caste ,We-Tamils are extra vigilant with these English educated(in book only) people.

    2) The last King of Kandy did not win favor with his Adigars.- We both community do not true each for long long period of Time (Since Eelra time) – We need to change this custom .

    3) You-Tamils chased out some 27,000 Sinhala and Muslim folk from the North as well as the East- You know as well as I know how many Tamils You-Sinhalese chased out ( Include myself from Colombo 10 ) since 1956 to 1983.
Yes I do not agreed with eye for eye is not solution

How to mend broken Trust ? There has to be Give from the Tamil Leaders quarters, and not all Take.- Agreed .
Time to negotiate ( give & Take )with our CM Vigge to settle back All Sinahese & Muslim ( also any one willing live in North from special from these two community ) who left since 1948 from North & East.

How come if he was so powerful how come he could not stop Prabahakaran. It took President Mahinda Rajapakse to do it. I cannot understand how he, My3, Champika, CBK, Anura K, and Rev Rathana were telling all those lies about MR on the stage in January election without a shred of proof and how stupid our people were to believe all that nonsense. The net result is that the country is in a mess with the economy going down fast. Ranil W brought in Paskaralingam to head the Treasury, Ravi Karupiah to be Finance Minister, Arjun Mahendran to head the Central Bank and the net result was Rs. 5000 millions is supposed to have been scammed by insider trading by Arjun Mahendran. The COPE inquiry was not allowed to be heard in the Parliament nor the no confidence motion that was brought against Ranil W since the Parliament was dissolved by My3. All this was created by Rev Sobitha in his search for the Nirvana of just Govt. Now he must solve the problem he was responsible for creating.

  28. Fran Diaz Says:

    Kumar,

Glad you understand the situation from the point of view of Truth.

    Re (3) : Tamils chased from 1956 to 1983 –

The anger from the Sinhala people continued because Tamil leaders took the side of the Colonists, the British colonists especially. In the British period of occupation, the Tamil folk were in the forefront in almost every sphere of life in Lanka, and that went on for almost 150 yrs.
After Independence in 1948, Tamil Leaders have consistently made it their top priority to get a separate state for the Tamil people. That is why the riots (not ‘pogroms’ as stated by the Tamil Diaspora) against Tamils happened. I am sad about those events. Nothing of worth happened for either side. This was because of blind emotional reactions without rational thinking.
We hope the REAL reason for the conflict now stands exposed, and real remedial stands are taken through the Law of the Land.

  29. SA Kumar Says:

We hope the REAL reason for the conflict now stands exposed, and real remedial stands are taken through the Law of the Land.- fully agreed .

Hope for best now ! no one want Eelam war V or JPV upraise 3rd in Mother Lanka at least for another 100 years or more !!!

let short out our problem in the table for a start Hon Samapanthan let him resign from his opposition leader post to give to real winner SLFP ( 96 seats ok now 56 seats it is much much greater than 16 seats )!!!

  30. SA Kumar Says:

That is why the riots (not ‘pogroms’ as stated by the Tamil Diaspora) against Tamils happened.- We both know it was well planted ( three Ministers – Siri Mathiu ?) because in front of riots Ven Piggu (Amaduru/ Mong) have voting list & Police use tear gas against Tamil instead of rioters .
