MOTHER NATURE SO UNKIND. Dedicated to the Victims of the Tsunami on 26th December 2004.
Posted on December 26th, 2015

Susantha Wijesinghe.

A lonesome lissome  lass, languish

In solemn silence, on the Sea Shore,

awaiting for Loved Ones in anguish,

refusing to believe, they are no more.

Twas 26th dreary doomsday December,

TSUNAMI rose high, frothing foaming fury,

Its verdict was for WORLD to remember,

How mercilessly, it can be Judge and Jury.

Had no qualms, in choosing lives,

Of rich and poor, young and old,

Brothers and Sisters, Husband and Wives,

Hear survivors trauma, story unfold.

It blew the roofs, edifices mowed down,

The MIGHTY FORCE, no match to withstand,

Devastating Countries, Village and Town,

and snatching babies from mothers hand.

People of the world, their hearts lit bright,

With speedy Aid to survivors forlorn,

Eternal Spring of help, now glows light,

BRIGHTENING HEARTS, OF CRUELTY BYGONE.

A poem presented in 2005 at Famous Poets Convention,

held at Reno Hilton, Nevada.

  1. Lorenzo Says:

    WOW SW.

Good on you for remembering those victims.

  2. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

Lorenzo !! I am so happy you read it. I saw many videos of Sri Lanka. I saw the video where the SEA went in leaving a very broad beach. People without realizing the consequences they ran towards the Sea. Then came the Devil, and took all of them, every one of them. I also saw the train at the Peraliya Station. The fury of the Force sent the train reeling, with around two thousand passengers. That was a holocaust. Another thing that I will not forget is the First BOMB on IRAQ. I had just come home after OPEN Heart Surgery, with two Bi-Passes. My only leisure was watching TV on Large Screen. I saw the first Bunker Buster on Saddams Sons house.

Mother Natures Actions are not man made, there is absolute no control. Iraqs War was Man made without cause.SHAME.
    That Country is in ruins.

I will try to publih the next one for which I receieved s Trophy. Try you hand at lornzo. You did well earlier. So get started. I will help you inany way you want. sus.

    SW,

It is very popular. Check the “Most Popular” articles on the right hand side.

Within the same day of publishing it is the third most popular at the moment!!

    Well done.

I never had any artistic trait. PS4 is my art.

  6. Nanda Says:

    Susantha,
This brings me back 2-3 years when you encouraged us to write poems.
I only managed to develop Sinhala Kavi. My English not so good, only technical stuff I can write.

Do you remember, ” I don’t know melo deyak, Sinhala nam O-na deyak”.

  7. Nanda Says:

Oh it did some good deeds
    By punishing Tiger teeth
    It made some people rich
Under the rule of the witch

  8. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

NANDA ! Yes, I believe one has to have a reasonably good vocabulary to write poetry. My Father and Mother made me and my two sisters, speak in English even at home, from our small days. I used to write slang Limericks in School, and make my class-mates laugh. I have Publications in ” Great Poems of the Western World,” The International Who’s Who in Poetry, and Colours of Life.

I remember, ..I don’t know melo deyak. The University Students use to say “KADUWA” for knowledge of English.

Lorenzo too wrote some Poetry, 2-3 years back.

I see you have got started with four lines. Press on.
