A broader international commitment would have ensured the success of an effort to end an over two-decade-long war between the Sri Lankan military and Tamil separatists, Erik Solheim, a former peace negotiator, said at the Atlantic Council on January 14 is NONSENSE. It would have only divided the country and a new state – Tamil Eelam would have been formed, if not for the commitment of friendlier nations of the Sri Lanka pitching in with military support, and the Western countries predicting that the LTTE is a force that can never be defeated. The downfall of the peace process was due to the dirty games played by Richard L. Armitage, who then served as Deputy Secretary of State in the George W. Bush administration and the peace diplomacy of Running with the fox and hunting with the hounds” deceptive it was, conducted by Eric Solhiem. Reference to all the WikiLeaks documents prove this situation.
Solhiem bypassing Sri Lanka’s political hierarchy, again and running to US Deputy Secretary Amitage begging his intervention when Solhiem could not come out with concrete outcomes with his discussions with Prabaharan, made him a non-entity with President Chandrika and later President Mahinda Rajapaksa –https://wikileaks.org/plusd/ca…. Eric Solhiem was a fox in sheep clothing”, NOT a Peace Negotiator at all. No one knows the TRUTH behind the Norwegian involvements in Sri Lanka, except one Norwegian from Sauda in Rogaland, Norway. NO ONE wants to tell the TRUTH even now. Eric Solhiem is bluffing in the International Forum, just to make a living.
