ම හා ධර්මස් කණ්ද යම නොවෙය් අංශු මාත්‍රයක් හෝ දන්නවනම් මේවා මෙහෙ ම නොවේ විශාකා ආනන්ද නාලන්ද ඇතුළු සියලු පාසල් වල උගන්වන්නේ එකම දේය .නමින් බෞද්ධ වීම නිසා සිදුවන්නේ චන්ද්‍රිකා වැනිය වුන්ගේ අපහාසයට ලක් වීම පමණය . උපතින් බෞධ්ධලමය් වැඩියෙන් මේ පාසල් වල ඇතත් ඔවුන්ගෙන් බොහෝ දෙනෙක් බෞද්ධ වන්නේ නමටය කිශානි ජයසිංහ පොඩි කාලයේ සිටම ගායනයට දක්ෂය. බෞද්ධ කම වසා මිෂනාරී අධ්ධ්යාපනය ළමයින්ට දෙන විට ඔවුන් යන්නේ අඳුරේ අ ත පත ගාමිණි. විශාකාවේ ඉගෙන ගත පමණින් ඉන් මිදෙන්න්නට කාටවත් නොහැක .කිශානි හිතාමතා මේ ගීතයට අපහාස කළා යය් මම නොකියමි කවුදෝඇ ය නිදහස් උළෙලට ඇදගෙන ගොස් ලනුව දී ඇත .. ඔපෙරා සොප්‍රානු දක්ෂ කම් ය විසි පෙන්විය යුතුව තිබුනේ මේ ගීතයටනොවේ නිදහස් උත්සවයෙදීවත් නොවේ . සාමාන්‍ය යට මේ දෙකම ලොකුදෙවල්ය . සුනිල් ශාන්තගේ ගී හා සෝමපාලගේ ගී මෙවිදිහට ගයා පෙන්නුවානම් යට කවුරුත් දොස් කියන්නේ නැත . රනිල් මේ සිද්ධිය ලොකු කර පෙන්නා කලබලයක් ඇති කලේ මාධ්ධ්‍යය ගැන ඇති කේන්තිය නිසය් නිවේදකයා ගේ විවේචනය සර වැඩිවුණේ මෙය බෞද්ධ ගීතයක් වීමත් නිදහස් උත්සවය වීමත් නිසා ඇතිවූ කේන්තියෙනි

At least this opera singer has made some money like our domestic workers in the middle east. She is a pride for the Sinhalese. Unfortunately lot of the Opera fans think she is Indian because she is a so called Sri Lnakan.
If we were still Ceylonese (people of the land of the Sinhalese like Indians the people of the lands of Hindus not Bharathayans)

This is part Ranil Wickramasinghe’s please the West plan. He cares neither thjis country nor its culture . He wants to be in political power and be the President. And lots of our foolish people educated in big schools in Colombo, and else where, and those who think it is a prestige to imitate English and Western culture have fallen into Ranil Wickramasinghe’s trap baiting people to his side.
How can we rectify this error we committed on the 8th January,2015 ? Even the media is now falling in line with UNP for fear. I saw Chatura of Derana in Wadapitiya painfully trying to be objective making pro-governmnt comments

The song ”අසේමතුවන කඳුළු ” came to mind when I was spending a year long solitary life constantly engaging in metta meditation. I did not even know the full lyrics then, yet I was able to have insights into first noble truth with this excellent writing by Mahagamasekara.
This was the closest writing to my heart, no other song come even close to it. I thought “කඳුළු බිඳු ” represent suffering and “කැලෑ මල් “, defilements. I felt it.
After many years , I came across the original writing by Sekara and to my surprise it was written dedicated to Avkana Statue than to Buddha, but with Buddha’s compassion and noble truth was blended into it.
It was apparent to me that by cutting short of the poem Amaradeva has distorted the true meaning to some extent, yet it became an excellent writing which demonstrated true Buddhism in a beautiful way.
I would like to share the original song with you.
ඇසේ මතු වන කඳුළු බිඳු ගෙන
ඔබේ සිරිපා දොවන්නම්
හදේ මැල වෙන කැලෑ මල් ගෙන
ඔබේ සිරිපා පුදන්නම්

As someone studied our local music and never any western music, let me conclude that, in my opinion, it is perfectly alright to sing this song in opera style, if that is possible at all. It will not affect the meaning badly. Some other person may think differently.
As long as Sinhala Buddhist people engage in worshipping politicians of their choice, not realising truth, they will only help harming the country. Reason is Buddhism is about TRUTH and honesty and upright behaviour is paramount, as Buddhists.

If you can translate that to English that is a MERITORIOUS ACT.

Not sure how true this claim is. IF true it is a MUST for all SLs to spend atleast 2 days to reflect on things. When SL people go on pilgrimage they only engage in RITUALS and the rest is FUN. As HAJJ is subsidized, ALL SLs should be given the chance to spend 2 days in meditation at some point in their life. May be they can start with school kids. MEDITATION BOOT CAMP.

Dham Throwing stones at cats was not through hatred of the song , but the way it was sung. He did not know opera style songs because it is outside the Sri Lanka culture. The organisers of the Independence day should have got Nanda Malinee to sing it.
Sinhala songs are melodious soft and serene. This song has to be sung with that calm, peace serene melody.

My dear Mr Charles Perera, I AGREE with you. But WHO is there to do all this?
1. Can we rely on AMERICANS themselves to SAVE us from Americans???? No. Because they have taken an OATH OF ALLIGIENCE to USA. They are NOT willing to break it.
2. Two of MR’s kids are BRITISH EDUCATED. They all studied at STC – the most westernised and Christian ideological den!!
3. For some people around MR 24/7, KHAN and JAQLINE are gods. LAMBOGHINIES are gods. Can our man break FREE from that influence? No. Because he is BOMBARDED by these 24/7.
Please look at this problem we are in without taking sides. You are a BUDDHIST and you should be able to FREE your mind from ATTACHMENTS better than me.
We have to SAVE MR from WESTERN INFLUENCE and turn him once again into the VILLAGE LAD he was. We need an “UNCULTURED” villager NOT burdened by diplomatic BS with SIMPLE STRAIGHT thinking to save us. I only see them in the MILITARY.
Otherwise, we have to bring MR back to MEDAMULANA WALAWWA from CALTON HOUSE. Do you see what I see?

We think MR can balance the East/West cultures quite well. He is more with the East in his culture and habits. He is 70 yrs old and he belongs to the post World War II group in Lanka.
We think it is quite ok for him to remain at Carlton House or Medamulana Walawwa – whatever name the press uses is alright.
It is quite alright that the children were educated at St Thos. Their values are alright in modern times. They are normal children – they move with society and with the business world. Today, understanding the west is important too.
MR needs to be saved from the Yahap govt. and their Fascist/Sadistic governance style.

I was talking about the “act of throwing stones at cats” not about the song. Such act obviously prove that the thrower does not know any Buddhism according to the song. Yet this man is pretending to be a protector of Buddhism.
One throws stones obviously when angry.
I regret Nalin went further and said it is our Sinhala culture. I hope he did not mean it.
It is a personal view, Charles, whether that particular song was suited to be sung in that way. To me it is very suitable. To you and some others it is not.

I don’t call it a Sinhala thing , it is written in Sinhala and sung in Sinhala, I am a Sinhala and I like it very much. It surely enhance Buddha Dhamma. Buddha is said to be and Indian. You can abuse Buddha, if you like.

You try to change people to your way of thinking only – that will not work. People have their own ideas of events and others, and what works.
MR’s children went to St Thos. What is wrong with that ? If they went to a strictly ‘local’ school, they would not have a wider outlook and experience.
The social media used by the Yahap crowd to tell LIES about the MR children and MR. That was obvious. But it was an effective campaign against the MR govt. You also do not acknowledge that the Elections were cheated through the computers. Both these reasons are why MR ‘lost’ the elections ! Why be obtuse about the facts ?
What the masses want is what Colombo has (so clearly said Karuna). What has Colombo got that the masses want ? I think it is the knowledge of the English language (as a second language), and knowledge of the computer where self learning can begin.

MR’s children opted to go more modern with parental approval from both mother and father – that is moving with the times. I don’t get the fuss about that either.

Dear all,
Coming out of “අසේමතුවන කඳුළු ..”, this big Hu Ha about the song are all PURE POLITICS with ZERO benefit to Sinhalaya , Buddhists or even to Tamils.
This “Sankha” fellow blew this out of proportion as a “SUPPORT” for MR & Co.
Opportunistic UNPeeres blew “Sankha’s supporting words” out of proportion.
Both parties did not have ANY love for the country nor the purest intention to protect Buddhism.
Susantha, I and Lorenzo knew all these but we were sad that the innocent clever singer was abused in the process. For some people this is “collateral damage” and they are indifferent to the victim.
If we are honest patriots, indifference to someone’s suffering should be brought to an end. We should be honest first.
Lorenzo has simply pointed out methods to end this useless government. If MR did what he was supposed to do we all are enjoying music these days.
It is not vote rigging, lies that brought this horrible state to motherlanka bus . It all started in 2010 and it is going downhill. Drivers changed but going even more downhill now. Either previous driver should be rehabilitated or we should find a new driver.
