When you read the opinion column in today’s Island ,I am tempted to comment and justify and substantiate the invitation sent by President elect of Uganda extended to our President ( sorry ex-president) of Sri Lanka .
After Mrs Banadaranyake became the first woman prime minister in the world ,and reined few extended years everyone thought that she will stay for life time .
I even heard that when J R came to power she was little reluctant to leave the temple trees
After many years of her leaving the prime minister’s office many people in foreign counties ( who sometimes do not know where Sri Lanka is geographically located ) think that we still have the same woman prime minister and keeps asking us about her
That means Ugandan people may be thinking that MR is still the president and sent the invitation addressed to the President H E Mahinda Rajapakse and sent to his home address ,or may even be that it went to him my mistake.
MS is very often addressed as H E Mahinda Rajapakse in many meetings by some ministers and secretaries in the incumbent government either by mistake or to irk the current president who is mild mannered and takes it in a lighter vein .
My contention is that even in US ex president Bush is addressed as President Bush hence MR being called President is and honour ,just like SF is called Field Marshal without a battalion !
I feel that Ugandan President wants to remind the people in Uganda of horrific ethnic cleansing by Idi Amin ,and bringing our President ( I mean ex president ) to honour the man for his stopping the ethnic cleansing by LTTE

DR. SARATH !! IN USA, ALL EX-PRESIDENTS ARE ALWAYS ADDRESSED AS *PRESIDENT*. THAT TITLE IS THERE FOR LIFE. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL CITIZENS SHOULD KNOW WHO THE PRESENT PRESIDENT IS. THATS ALL TO IT.
LIKEWISE, I FEEL THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN ADDRESSING ANY OF OUR EX-PRESIDENTS, AS “PRESIDENT ” THE **HIS EXCELLENCY** PART CAME, OR RATHER STARTED WITH JR, JUST FOR **<>. IT IS KNOWN AS {{{MAHAN THATHVAYA}}
CHANDRIKA KUMARATUNGA COULD BE ADDRESSED AS PRESIDENT CHANDRIKA OR PRESIDNT CHANDRIKA KUMARATUNGA. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOBODY LOSES ANYTHING BY IT.
OFCOURSE IN SRILANKA, THE INCUMBENT PRESIDENT SHOULD NOT THINK THAT IT IS A COME DOWN FOR HIM. THAT THERE CANNOT BE TWO PRESIDENTS. THAT IS NOT A “”STATESMANLY”” WAY OF LOOKING AT IT. IT IS FOOLISH.
IN USA, A PRESIDENT IS ADDRESSED AS **PRESIDENT** OR <> THERE IS NO *HE*, NEVER.

Our පන්දම් සංස්කෘතිය created and spoiled the politicians, who are public servants, paid by us and elected by us to do a job properly.
Previously the appointed president as called “HE” because he represented the parasite called “THE QUEEN”. JR, being the 1st elected president not only preferred to carry on with HE , he moved the government to Jayawardane Pura to mark his name. That is the beginning of this foolishness.
Our පන්දම් සංස්කෘතිය did not stop there, they made MR a “KING”, or “My lord”, he should be, the way people spoil him to none existence.

DHAM !! Even JR said, ** after all, what is there in a name ** Yet he wanted his salutation as HE. There is a saying:- Ladies First, Dogs Follow.
I remember President Sirisena saying, “Please don’t address me as His Excellency ” Admirable Eh ? Yet the Media, being very subservient, addresses him as HE. They feel that they gain Plus Points.
Talking of CORRUPTION SUMMIT, JVP goes to Town, saying that President asked Prime Minister to get rid of MAHENDRAN, but corruption refuses to move. Mahendran’s term ends in June 2016. Is the PRESIDENT going to continue with him, after imploring to the Gods that “”WE SHOULD STOP CORRUPTION “” in the CLEAN city of the United Kingdom. LET US WAIT AND SEE. I feel ‘ corruption stays.’

Yes. No ladies now, so it is high time people start treating them just the opposite of God until they deliver the goods.
Goods = get rid of Tamil racism completely. Make sure there is no word “Tamil” at all in the constitution.
