Disaster Relief Fund for Sri Lanka

Dear Temple Members and Friends,
I am sure that you are all aware of the flooding and mudslide disaster taking place in Sri Lanka. As of the time of this writing, 64 people have been reported dead, over 135 people are still missing, and thousands are homeless. We have a long tradition at Dharma Vijaya for coming to the aid of disaster victims: 2004 tsunami, Myanmar typhoon, Nepal earthquake, and others.
We have established a fund here at our temple in Los Angeles for the people in the danger zone. Please send your donations to Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara as soon as possible. Make checks payable to same, and send to 1847 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90019. If you have any questions you can contact us by phone at 323-737-5084. We will not be collecting any physical items – only money.
I am leaving for Sri Lanka on Friday, May 27th, and I will personally distribute whatever funds we have collected those who are most in need.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to this fund after I leave on the 27th, is invited to do so. Please contact Ven. Dr. Seelaratana or any other staff, and we will make sure your donations reach the victims.

ගරු ස්වාමීන් වහන්ස,
ඔබවහන්සේට මා මතක ඇතැයි සිතමි. නිතර පන්සලට නාවත්, ( අපි දහම් පාසැල් ගියේ ශ්රී සම් බුද්ධ ජයන්තියට නිසා) අපි ඔබවහන්සේ කුඩාකල සිට (ගරු මේධානඳ හිමිගේ කල සිට) දනිමු. සිංගප්පූරුවේ සිට ඇම්ලිෆයර් එකක් අවුරුදු 30ස් ගනනකට පෙර පාමංකඩ පංසලට පුජාකලේ මමයි.

As you already may have heard, since Saturday night (14 May), severe and adverse weather conditions have resulted in many lives being lost and utter devastation to homes and properties in Sri Lanka.
Many roads have been completely closed, houses have been completely submerged, river banks breached and fatal landslides have occurred as a result. The devastation is simply overwhelming, and even as the Tri Forces and the Government are trying very hard to manage this natural disaster, they are in dire need of assistance and the citizens of Sri Lanka are mobilizing to assist as many of the 250,000 + displaced families as possible.
Adverse weather continues as humans and animals are being rescued by boat and helicopter, around the clock, we have received many inquiries as to how donations can be sent to Sri Lanka in a safe and quick way.
