Serman by a Buddhist Monk from Bangladesh

I  Was at a pre-alms giving function held at my brother’s place last night .Serman was delivered by a  young monk who has come to Sri Lank from Bangladesh when he  was small ( now  he may be in late twenties) gave an insight of our society .His controversial serman was about some monks and laymen claiming that they have achieved Sothapaththa” (So’wan )  and what a farce it is .People have not clearly understood that most of  the people in our society are full of hatred .ignorance and cravings ,That is why in Sri Lanka we currently have many national and political issues disturbing our well being and peace .We keep cheating ourselves rather than being honest. People and monks both  are cheating and pretend that we are pious .

He mentioned that So’wan means ,the person has become neutral and controls his mind in certain aspects .He/she does not react when ever good or bad happens ,He/she  controls his mind and trains him/herself to not to react to any good or bad cause .

He mentioned that Sinhalese are proud of having a long cultural heritage having over 180 kings and almost over 100 of them has either killed his son.wife.parents  or being killed by his son or the father .Despite the fact that we Sinhalese’s talk about our culture and piousness  ,we are a nation who have not followed Buddhism in true sense ,( he as apologetic of being a non sinhala monk speaking eloquent Sinhala ) .

We have to propagate that values of religious beliefs among the people and make them understand that we have to be honest and tolerant .We go on demonstrations, hate thy neighbour, peep into other people’s affairs and talk about what a great nation we are  and it is a farce.

I came out of the serman and thought, he should be in a TV program and preach so that our politicians and the people learn something to live peacefully in this country.

Good one. He will be similar to Tibetian S.Mahinda Thero if he is given the opportunity to give his message to SL public.

Dr. Sarath, Thank you for the post and please get his contact details and organise a sermon in the Buddhist Channel at a prime time. This will be a great service to our nation.

People overseas can then watch in Youtube.

Please also let us know the great monk’s name.

    Thank you

  2. Senerath Says:

Good, then. I don’t expect any complaints from you in the future about any damn thing. Thank you.

What a shame Bangladesh isn’t a Buddhist country anymore? It was, before the fastest breeding religion got there.
Mussies with their Baby Machine Wives converted the country to mussie in no time.

    Charles Darwin’s Theory of
Evolution made the creator god theory a farce and Buddhism the only true religion in the world. If so called god
couldn’t create this clever 2-legged creatures in the first place, no point sending messages or advice from ‘above’
since they are surely capable of thinking those things themselves! But how can we convince billions of people following those religions? They are not just going on the wrong path also doing everything to destroy the only true religion in the world!
